To remove objects from the tape you have to use a twisting motion. At my house I have paintings and two coatracks held up with nothing but the tape. In my workshop I use the tape to hold up power strips which obviously get quite a workout whenever I plug or unplug. My workshop is at my summer cabin in northern Minnesota where temps drop to 40 below and the tape is still holding. BTW, nano tape does not contain adhesive. It’s designed to mimic a gecko’s foot. It has microscopic filaments that provide the adhesion. And prices have come down.

Thanks for this Dan. I was wondering how you remove it. For instance, if you left those bricks on the wall for a month or two and then wanted to take them off, how would you get them off?

The reason it was so ridiculously strong when you just put the one vertical brick on the wall, is because the tape is designed to handle horizontal and direct vertical shearing force better than peel shearing force (if there's a proper term for these feel free to corrext me).
The moment you made the bricks a stack instead of just one, the weight leverage was distributed further out, and stressing the top of the tape more.
The best way to test tape, is to have a standard set of pressure guages in a series of automated tests, using a press with both a flat and a wedge end, and a lift with a weight guage on the chain, all testing on various material bricks, because tested tape could stick better or worse to certain things. The lift would measure vertical shear force, the wedge would measure peel force, and the flat press would measure horizontal shear force, and possibly help press the glue into microscratches better than hand squeezing could do. I'd love to see someone like Project Farm or Hydraulic Press Channel apply this methodology to make a plot graph of what tapes are best for different purposes. Who knows, there might just be some brand of tape out there that has either competely solved the tape independant issue of weak peel shearing while remaining possible for a person to remove it by hand, or just become so insanely strongly adherent that it almost doesn't matter anymore.

It looks like handy stuff. When applied in the right situation, it can handle pretty high loads. I believe it is called shear strength where two things try to slide past each other. The closer the object is to the wall the better. When farther away, the brick is being torn from the wall and not just sliding down. I use picture hangers in my garage. Even the picture hangers with only one small nail that goes at an angle into drywall will hold 20 lbs. If you use picture hangar with 3 small nails, you can hang 50 pounds from it. It works as long as the force is being applied parallel to the wall and very close to the wall.

I bought some and you are exactly correct. I might have some uses but it's not good for "temporary" object hanging. One thing it could be excellent for is in Earth Quake prone zones to keep are objects on shelves, like vases and statues. It would be good for posters on college dorm walls I think. If you are a renter and your landlord would have a problem with picture hanging I could see using this stuff.

@@LollipopsNFists I can report on that - I stuck 3 Christmas cards to my wall. When I tried to remove them, the tape took off the paint. I'd like to see a longevity test. Put the tape on the wall and attach some normal items on it and come back in a week/month(s) and see if it's still holding. I use command strips to hold certain things on the wall permanently. This kind of tape would be more useful.
