I have heard many performances of this wonderful song, but I think Robin's lead here rises over the top to the best I've ever heard from him. His intensity is outstanding. The brothers are magic. To think, they were just teenagers when they wrote this piece. Thank You to the Midnight Special guys. This was an unexpected pleasure tonight.
Thanks, J3. I had no idea they had posted the most beautiful version of this song ever! He especially poured his heart and soul into this MS performance and it deserves to be a separate video. Thanks for letting me know.
@@Zlata1313 J1, have you been following what's been going on SalvoG's channel (his "You Win Again" reaction)? This Australian "child" got angry with me just because we dared to agree with the person who originally wrote the comment about Robin's "Oh, babe" causing us to melt. She called me an immature 12 year old because two words out of Robin's mouth could make me melt. I informed her that I was 70 and if anyone was being immature it was her, not me, and that she should just move on if she didn't like our comments. Her profile says she lives in Australia and likes the Bee Gees but apparently not Robin so much. 😊
This song deserves to be remembered as much as any of the top songs in the Bee Gees' catalog. It's unfortunate that only diehard fans seem to know it. Fantastic orchestration, melody, and of course, vocals.
The story Barry tells is that this was written when they were teenagers in Australia, playing some of the less attractive clubs, and sharing spaces with strippers. I expect they actually did "see somebody!"
@@janicetrimmell6897Oh, Wow, that’s very interesting. Thank you Janice, for the songs backstory they were so very young, phenomenally talented brothers.
Have never heard this song before, it’s so beautiful isn’t it, eh? 🥰 I’m in love with Robin’s voice and the romantic lyrics, thanks for this visual and earworm treat. Am thoroughly enjoying The Midnight Special - mini segments. Have always loved The Bee Gees!!
Thank you for uploading this video! I watched this numerous times before and this will always be my favorite live show of Robin singing this song. His emotions and vibrato was so raw that I couldn't help but fall in love with his voice. Thank you Robin for such a beautiful song!
People recognize Robin and Barry's voices, but Maurice wrote and composed the instruments to support them. As well as lend backup vocals. Goddamn, they were all incredible.
I’ll admit, the first time I saw Robin sing I laughed even though I thought he had a killer falsetto and vibrato. But I laughed because he put his hand over his ear. I’m no singer, believe you me. I’m the type who sounds bad even in the shower. But I tried the whole hand-over-the-ear thing and actually realized I could better hear my own voice. Not that I wanted to after hearing it. Hey, I do have “mad skills” though. I’m terrific at doing the dishes. I also know how to setup and maintain computers pretty well, what with image backup discs when my PC gets corrupted which is bound to happen. But I’m no singer. Unlike Robin. RIP.
With all the instruments and speakers it has to be hard to hear yourself let alone his brothers to harmonize, so I could understand the difficulty. Although Mo teased him about it alot.
Heartfelt vocals from Robin, seamless harmonies from Maurice and Barry. An absolute gem from the Bee Gees' back catalog - thanks for highlighting it, TMS!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, The Midnight Special! I've been waiting patiently for you to post this since the full episode aired a few months ago. My most beloved version of Robin's wonderful lead in its entirety. Definitely a dream come true! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤
Hi LJ. I had some oral surgery today, can't sleep and thought I would listen to some music. Somehow I landed here with this incomparable performance. (It all went well - I'm fine)
Hey, J3. I'm so glad everything went well with your surgery. The weather just woke me up a little while ago. I guess I fell asleep about an hour after "TMS" was over. Diane kinda put my mind at ease a little bit when she said this round of storms in Houston wasn't nearly as bad as what she had to deal with the day before. Thank God she's okay and you and Mom are okay, too. Now that I'm here I'm going to listen to my sweet angel's best version ever of "I Can't See Nobody" and then try to go back to sleep. Hopefully you're getting a little more rest now, too. Love ya! LJ.
One of the best harmonies of the 70's. There will never be music made like this again. We were so blessed to have experienced it. Happy Wednesday... thank you for sharing! 💖
This is one of my favorite Bee Gees songs! As much as I love the recorded version of it, I love their live performances of the whole song even more! It always sounds like Robin put way more emotion into his performances of it in their pre disco days than when he recorded it. Plus, watching him perform it, we get to see him as he's singing the song. And, he looked to be very into the song and carrying so much emotion with it. While this is an amazing performance of this song, my absolute favorite is the one at the Bee Gees' Melbourne, Australia concert in 1974.
Também adoro essa musica! Essa versão da Austrália em 1974 é muito boa mesmo!!! Também é a que mais gosto!!! É lindo quando ele sustenta a última nota no final, como acontece também nessa versão! É lindo de ver e ouvir❤
I think Robin gave so much of himself when he sang, especially in this performance. All of the brothers were super talented but Robin’s vocals were other worldly.
His voice has moved me so deeply for my entire life. He had an absolutely soulful and expressive talent. He sang freely and purely. God bless his soul always. 🙏
By the way, I’ve gotten into a number online discussions (arguments?) about the Gibbs being Australian. Behold the Union Jack people! They always considered themselves Brits. They only spent a handful of years in Australia and weren’t born there. They also had an entire career of hits starting in the 60s before they became the kings of disco, placing them as part of the late “British Invasion” scene (as called in the US).
I believe they spent almost 10 years in Australia (1958-1967), but they did consider it a big part of their upbringing & have called it home when returning to play there.
really a sad sad song when you read the lyrics and listen to Robin's voice. In another live version he adds "oooooooh no" after the line "I guess it all just had to be." Oooooooh no 0:43
The Bee Gees were highly influential on many other bands in the late 1960s. You can hear it in the early material of such prog bands as Genesis, notably “The Silent Sun”.

В 70х не было радиогарнитур ушного мониторинга , прикладывая ладонь к уху , можно было четче слушать свой голос ...
Grace Slick used to do that a lot. David Crosby described that technique as “closing the circuit,” which is a good way to put it.
🤓🤓
