Nick Marra's Incredible 'Quint' Sculpture from Jaws!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 кві 2017
- We first met sculptor Nick Marra when he debuted his Westworld Gunslinger at Monsterpalooza two years ago. His latest work is just as impressive: an incredibly lifelike rendition of shark hunter Quint--as played by the late Robert Shaw--from Jaws. We check out this sculpture's numerous details and chat with the artist about this kind of portrait sculpting.

Quint made the movie Jaws even more of a classic to never be forgotten.
One of the most life like sculptures I've ever seen
Zac Fitzgerald Check out Mike Hill's work. Also crazy good.
+Zac Fitzgerald Perfectly life-like. I keep expecting the piece to shout out "HOOPAAAA!!!!!!" XD
Thanks very much - I’m extremely proud of that piece .
@08:28 " I'm a detail freak " , yeah no kidding - Quint looks REAL ! Stunning work.
That look on his face is so perfect very realistic.
spike little i know right it looks like the real him
@@alisonbleiweiss1854 Well it could use some more facial complexion to be really accurate
I feel proud that Robert Shaw was from the same town as me. Our local Spoons is even named after him.
I can't get over how life-like and accurate it is. Amazing work of art.
So incredibly talented. It even has the little dribble of beer on the chin!
Best sculpture I've ever seen hands down, that is one of my favorite characters in film history and it was spooky amazing on point. Robert Shaw would be proud. RIP Mr. Shaw
Robert Shaw...utterly brilliant actor...brooding, taciturn and stoic...what more could you ask for.
Johnny K.- Absolutely, he’s an extremely under appreciated actor. I’ve never understood why he was so unappreciated. He should have won numerous awards for this role.
Check this out ....
the skills these ppl have is just breath taking!!! 💙💙💙
i have better skills
Oh yeah dude, them 360 no scope.
@Vincent Y so you admit to my skills
That aint skills. I seen a four year old do it. Aint no four year can outscore me on Zombies. In fact, I aint been outscored on zombies in four years.
Colin Morgan what?
That is a phenomenal sculpt. Close-up of the face is just a knock-out shot.
AMAZING!!! Jaws is one of my all time favorites. This pose is so perfect of him looking at Richard Dreyfuss and smugly crushing that can
Incredible piece!
I legitimately thought it was Robert Shaw the first time I saw it, but the modern image quality gave it away!
Shades of Duane Hanson. Impeccable work and a true tribute to Robert Shaw and his iconic performance. I sincerely hope this amazing work of art is preserved for future Shaw and Jaws fans to appreciate.
The closer the camera gets to it, the more real it looks!
Amazing sculpture. Quint is such a great character. He is so cocky and stubborn in trying to catch the shark, endangering all of their lives. His death scene always got to me, knowing his past experiences with sharks, and for the sheer brutality of it. Well played by Robert Shaw.
Nick's work is probably the best in the world, awesome stuff.
ray24051 Mike Hill is up there too.
If the thing took a deep breath I wouldn't be surprised. Life-like isn't saying enough! Stunning.
I love how into his work the guy is. Every artist's dream is to feel that way about our work!
Holy crap!
That looks scarily real.
Incredible! R.I.P Mr Shaw, you were Great in Jaws!
I LOVED this piece all over Instagram this past weekend. Great to hear a fellow artist's commentary on their process. Thanks for featuring Nick & his work!
When I watch Jaws again these days its mostly for the awesome performance by Robert Shaw as Quint. This sculpture is amazing!!!
I agree about Shaw, but in JAWS I am also always taken up with the subtlety of that police chief, and the brashness and realness of Dreyfus. A great trio; so great.
I love how you can really hear just how excited Nick is about this piece he made.
WOW! The detail is AMAZING!!! It looks just like him! "I'm a detail person" he says... UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR!
Nick’s work is truly amazing! His passion for Jaws oozes from all his work plus he’s a very nice guy as well. A nerd Jaws fan we all can relate to!😊
I'm so blown away by this. What an incredible likeness and detail! He really did capture Shaw's Quint character. I think even Richard Dreyfuss would be speechless (for a moment, lol).
An incredible work of genius right here. It looks so life like that you think he's going to spring into action at any moment.
Just Brilliant! As a JAWS collector, that's the most authentic piece I've seen.....awesome.
The work of the old wax museums pales in comparison to this phenomenal creation. Photographs of this show no discernible variance from the live actor. This demonstrates the evolution of this genre of sculpture and makeup. I am in awe and very inspired.
It's so real, like he could come to life.
The attention to detail is insane!
This is really remarkable work, plus he picked one of THE best movies ever in my opinion.
The beer on his chin and fingers absolutely brilliant.
That is an amazingly life-like sculpture. Wow.
Holy crap! I kept waiting for the thing to lean forward and say "Hey Norm! Nice to meet ya!"... great work.
The Mozart of sculpters. First time I saw it on another video, I kept waiting for him to get up and move around and talk. Talk quite a while for me to believe this wasn't a live Quint!
I can't even fathom (no pun intended) the amount of pure talent that is required to create this kind of art man. People are amazing.
Seeing that both Robert Shaw and the late great Roy Scheider are dead (RIP), leaving Richard Dreyfuss as the last of the trio living, I couldn't think of a better tribute than a trifecta of sculptures!
That is so cool. Huge respect for his talent and this piece of work.
Absolutely amazing!!! Still, to this day, one of my favorite movies.
Woooooooow!!!!! Thank you so much for this video. I gives people like me a chance to see something incredible. I just can't get to events like this. Great interview.
Big Jaws fan thanks very much for this interview with the incredible artist
It's truly inspiring to see someone so passionate about their art!
The best sculpt I have seen to date....magical!
WOW that is just incredible, amazes me the skill and dedication which goes in to this absolutely love it!!
looks alot better than madame tussoud!
sadly jaws was never in waxworks ....
"...eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945." -Quint, *Jaws 1975*
'The thing about my wax sculpture, it's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes. When it comes at you it doesn't seem to be livin'... until he bites you, and those black eyes roll over white.' Just kiddin' (I couldn't resist) You nailed it, Nick! One of the best likenesses I've ever seen!
I love this. He's one HELL of a talent. Amazing work.
What an amazing and deserving piece of artistry. Amazing job.
Video's like this are manna from heaven. Thank you, Tested.
I live fairly close to the town of Westhoughton where Robert Shaw was born there is a pub on the main Street named the Robert Shaw after the great man himself who was born in the town this amazing piece of art would look awesome on display in there!
Looks fantastic! Thanks for posting
Marra is a truly fantastic sculptor. None of the uncanny valley you sometimes get with lifelike works.
What an incredible work of art. This is an excellent channel.
I have to say, I would love to see a video of Marra working in his shop demonstrating some of the techniques he uses.
I am speechless... Very nice work!
I'll sell it for three, but I'll box it, and ship it, for ten!
This Quint sculpture is most amazing realistic movie figure ive ever seen. Its so realistic u expect Quint to move etc so realistic amazing work. ❤
Breathtaking work of art. Don't you tell him his business again.
Amazing !! Jaws is my fav movie
That is disturbingly good work. Amazing.
There's a video on UA-cam of Dreyfuss seeing the sculpture for the first time. In interviews with Dreyfuss he is clearly moved and emotional about Robert Shaw. The emotions show when he's looking at the sculpture.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Love that Haunted Mansion music in the background!
Spielberg should buy it. Great piece!
That is absolutely amazing!
Incredible detail, Quint in a time freeze.....
Here's to swimmin' with bowlegged women....
It looks like Robert Shaq is actually there, great job!
Kinda spooky how there's so much life in the figure. At any second it looks like it could get up.
Amazing!! Looks real! Talented!
excellent work, a great choice of pose and craftsmanship.
That's amazing work. Wow!
That is incredible.
Outstanding work!
Absolutely incredible!
Love it....Amazing work
Wow! I hope Spielberg sees this! Hope he IS the client!
I think Spielberg still has nightmares of that shoot. :D
Absolutely amazing. Wow.
It really looks like it’s him sitting there!...Kudos! 👍
Never knew about that thicker (tin) can back in the day, but as a kid, I pretty much though Quint being though as nails. Epic piece of art and hopefully a treat for many eyes in the years to come. And cool about the Westworld thingy. I have yet to see the series.
Absolutely amazing Just expecting quint to say something so real
That is fantastic unbelievable work
Amazing ... Talented man !!
I'm looking to replicate one of those barrels. Anyone know what kind it is or where to find one?
One of my favorites I saw there!
I want this on my back porch
Wow, you can really see his attitude.
Excellent work.
Absolutely Amazing!!!!!!!!!
One word: PERFECTION.
Fantastic work, he has really caught him I bet most of us here know that shot
Stunning!
OMG - that totally freaked me out - it is spot-on perfect 👍
That belongs in a museum!
Absolutely incredible. Hard to believe Robert Shaw was only 47 years old when he starred in Jaws. Died 4 years later. Driving home he stopped his car along the way, got out and dropped dead at the roadside of a heart attack.
If only Robert Shaw was still around to see this.
Ultra realistic sculpture!
omg it looks just like him great job
This should be in a museum.
