- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Adam Savage visits Weta Workshop to get up close with some of the practical props the effects studio made for the upcoming film Ghost in the Shell. Weta Workshop's Richard Taylor shows Adam the mechanical geisha masks and animatronic puppets his team created, and how Weta Workshop used new fabrication and design technologies to make these props possible.

Adam Savage’s Tested Adam you should make a tardis from doctor who
That was amazing! I'm so glad Adam moved to UA-cam after Mythbusters!
dito!
Me too, the guy really fascinates me.
Gadget Addict hes from mythbusters!?
Samuel Arias is that a joke? 😅
Samuel Arias Dude...
Adam's appreciation for other people's artwork makes me so happy.
Same I love your channel btw
I think it's because he knows first-hand the talent and effort required to make those models and props... combined with the fact that he has nothing to prove.
Me too. He is an amazing guy with the talent to understand all he sees
That was absolutely incredible! Seeing two people as passionate about their craft as Adam and Richard is truly a joy, thanks guys!
Thats what makes the fun for me to watch Adam build anything, he's just totally into it :D
If you don't mind a recommendation, check out ILikeToMakeStuff. He's a maker too ^^
But don't expect another Adam Savage, that would not be fair...
This was truly fascinating! This sort of enthusiasm really makes watching these types of things just that much more interesting.
It's that he knows enough that he's able to pull out so much info from him.
+Adiran St. Fort +ciberpagano reategui
Both of you have an absolutely insufferable atittude, get yourself together.
Ciber either accept that wether you like the movie or not, this is high level craftsmanship displayed in this video, so don't diminish it through your ignorance. Also, cut out that racist bullshit, we are not living in the middle ages anymore, even if you would probably like it.
Adrian don't just insult people, either approach them in the way you want to be approached or stay silent. Just because someone else behaves like shit doesn't justify you behaving the same way. Agression from you brings out agression from the other side.
Thank you! :)
6:25 It actually makes perfect sense that this ribcage is decorated in such a handcrafted way. I mean if people will pay high prices to have the interior of their luxury watches' decorated why not do so with your robots or body augmentations!
WETA is just mindblowingly amazing , everytime they work on something they come up with a fictional backstory for every little detail.
I want that automated Geisha so bad. Truly beautiful art peace, thank you Adam great vid
Me too. Must be very expensive though
I see it as a beautiful peace of art so yes I do. :0)
The horrible can also be beautiful.
When it popped open, I jumped a little in my seat and was all like "Wow, that's incredible"
Woah Technology
+SlocketSeven I expect the movie to be a mix of pre-existing and new elements. Then the weebs can have it both ways: "that wasn't in the anime therefore BAD", and "that was taken from the anime therefore BAD".
Thread Bomb I am 100% one of those weebs and I can tell you that you are correct 😂
Thread Bomb I'm a fan of changing things to make them more realistic and modern. Especially for comic book movies. The weebs and hardcore fans need to realize that it can't be 100% exactly the same and honestly I'm a fan of Ghost in the Shell and I think it would be boring to see a 1/1 and it also wouldn't work.
That's what he said ¬____¬
Feels like a great privilege to see Weta's craftsmanship for every project. The movie may or may not work, but I think we can be assured it will be a visual spectacle and the work that went towards that can certainly be appreciated.
Now if only the people working on the movie script are as competent as these guys....
EXACTLY!
I personally really enjoyed it
The Producers and Directors of the movie really missed the metaphor and failed to capture me phase and magic of the original, but still is a relatively good movie compared to hollywood nowdays...
The movie was great
@@Jacksonmontyart It's incredibly stunning, visually, but the plot is the most generic thing ever.
There's no movie that could've been made that would've pleased fans of the original. I think it's going to be an awesome and visually stunning sci fi flick. I can't wait.
But I understand how you GITS fans feel... I was right there when they released The Last Airbender film.
At least The Last Airbender was closer to the source material than Dragonball...that said it was still a cinematic atrocity.
There could have been one. They could have just followed a single plotline instead of three and hoped it worked.
Yeah, I think that's a pretty good mindset. It's quite likely going to be an entertaining film on it's own, but the problem is that it's definitely not going to capture much of the spirit of GITS, and that pollutes the legacy. Newcomers to the franchise are going to watch this, and even if it makes them go back to watch/read the original material, the franchise as a whole will probably never really be special to them. KaptainKristian's video about Calvin&Hobbes made me realize that.
The only reason this movie is being made, at least from a corporate standpoint, is because a lot of people have heard that the original movie is good, but they don't want to go out of their way to seek out old media. they just want to consume new stuff. That's why FFVII is getting remade, it's why Psycho is getting remade, it's why almost every remake ever gets made.
I'm not going to accuse people of being sheep, because I completely understand, but I do wish they'd consider what they really care about before buying.
coenraed I think people are over reacting, as long as the movie doesn't do what SEED did to the Gundam franchise I'm going to be easy on judging it.
The last airbender was an atrocity, I dont feel this movie will be like The Last Airbender at all.
I first became aware of Richard Taylor in 2003 on the making of Fellowship of the Ring DVD. Dude is a legend.
Love your avatar, how do you feel about the new movie coming out this year?
Thanks. Excited!
Give that WETA Digital is involved in the practical effects there is hope yet that western movie making doesn't ruin GiTS.
The guys at weta workshop are incredible, they did all of the prop work on the lord of the rings trilogy, their dedication and commitment knows no bounds, they were making props for almost 2 years before they even started shooting the movies.
Same!
Everyone is predicting how bad the movie is going to be. You all have to at least appreciate the work that goes into these models and designs! I for one, am probably going to go see the movie exclusively for the practical effects, and marvel at the intricacy and expertise put into the models! Great work as always Weta!!!
JAMSART There's no way Heath Ledger is going to be a good Joker. He's going to suck, Dark Knight is going to suck, and Hollywood is going to keep ruining all our favorite characters... Oh how quick we judge.
People tend to be more pessimistic nowadays.
One thing might be judged, and anticipated to be garbage, only to emerge as one of the best films of the year!
Only one way to find out.. Watch it!
Great example Dean :)
No, fuck you. I don't care if they put down a lot of effort if they fuck the movie up. Besides, the problem people have is with the direction of the movie (or at least the trailer) not with the quality of their props.
JAMSART I do appreciate the craftsmanship. I have a problem with directing, writing and casting. I'm afraid craftsmanship alone won't be enough to compensate.
JAMSART They worked hard on the designs but still cocked up the window scene and the city.
7:57 "Now carefully locate and press the button just above Freddy’s nose."
Ikr it looks disturbingly a lot like ballora
You're here from Reddit, aren't you?
quite possibly yes
@@rustyreddo ok, good cause I am too, lol. I was the one who asked for the link.
Not gonna lie, having those guys working on the FNaF movie would be great, even if they're going to work only with the classic ones
it s always fantastic when a movie studio goes to this scale of detail instead of CGI, much respect and appreciation. Kubo is a another great example of amazing craftsmanship and art expression. Can't wait ti see the film.
Love the huge influence taken from Innocence's sex dolls. This is basically a geisha-ed rendition of them.
The film is taking from every animated iteration of the franchise:
- Lots of shot-by-shot takes from the animated film
- The geisha robot inspired from Innocence
- Hideo Kuze from the second season of the series
At least visually, the film should be a joy ride for GitS lovers. I know it'll be for me.
the geisha's are actually from the first episode of Stand Alone Complex
i like the anime series and movie much more than the real movie, but its still a great movie if u compare to other real movies from animes o/
Haven't finished Stand Alone Complex, but is great so far! Second movie was kind of wierd, I might have to re-watch it or is it straight foward?
@@MartinBuzon It's confusing, very cerebral. It's on purpose, you're supposed to be confused as you watch as to what's reality and what's virtual.
@@n8tehgr8est yeah I get that knowing whats reality or a simulation thing, I just didn't pay attention enough to the environment and meaning of the image. The first movie is full of meaningful backgrounds and shots.
knowing many things are real handcrafted props makes me really pumped for seeing the movie. there must be a lot of passion behind it
I agree. I wish more movies used real practical effects as opposed to computer generated ones. I will definitely see this movie for its visuals if nothing else
I always love seeing people who are expert at their craft, you can clearly hear the passion in their voice they have for it.
Hector Kayman 👦?
I like how Adam stares and listens with so much intent, he’s not trying to act like he knows everything he actually listens and recognizes new ideas and takes all he can from the discussion.
That is so extremely fascinating! It is astounding that he said they couldn't even do 2 years ago what they did in this movie. WOW! Thank you so much for showing us this!
The boys (and girls) at WETA workshop definitely know their stuff.
Adam thank you for this interview.
Cheers Mate!
Now thats a cool Thunderbirds shirt. Say hi to Woz B from me.
Don't worry about the sound guy, all the sound gets re-recorded anyway.
You are the one who killed a spider with a vacuum!
Oh man, thunderbirds.... Brings me back to the days when i was a kid watching these. i now have all episodes on dvd.
omg its the guy with the monotone voice from my childhood where i would watch the extended lord of the rings and then the making off on repeat, i was an odd child, but seriously respect to Richard Taylor!
Poppy Mason-Smith Even if some could derive pleasure purely from the technical achievements of the movie, I fear that they would not showcase them enough to make a difference. Seeing the cinematography of modern Hollywood action flicks, I am not confident that the practical effects will be shown in its full glory. Fast cuts, shaky cam, jump scares, etc.
Poppy Mason-Smith lol I remember him from the king Kong making of featurettes.
Seems that Taylor is loosening up a bit since those earlier features, he was so deadpan he made Jamie seem Adam Savage hyper ...
i still watch the LOTR series for the commentary tracks...
until recently me and my brother would watch the lotrs, the commentary and the making of a few times a year, but since I'm at uni I'm not really able too, though my mum considers it a blessing!
soo much detail , even the gears move, wow the amount of craftsmanship that goes into these is amazing
Talk about humble. Can't even imagine what going into crafting just one area, nevermind bringing so many together or making it new and different. He doesn't even mention what difficulties their might be implementing and coordinating cgi or cinematography. How many artists, craftsmen and tech people put their combined efforts into just that one thing is crazy.
This stuff is beyond amazing... Holy cow..
10:04 "this may not look like a great deal of complexity to your viewers ..." say WHAT ?!
Jordan C. Wilde there's a lot of idiots on yt
comparing it to the level of complexity for car engeneering, he was talking about the face opening mechanism not the design itself.
It is a bit of a double edged statement, on the one hand, we cannot see with as much detail everything that goes into it, and he expects people better than him to watch the channel, also on the other hand he expects the majority to be of mythbusters audience standard. Considering a lot watching this will end up being non subscribers, he may have a point.
For those of us with their jaws on the flaw, i don't think he was talking to us.
I hope the geishas don't have like 5 mins in the movie, because they are the coolest designs I have seen in a long time, and would love to see them have a big part of the movie.
I dont think they even got 5 minutes and the action was so quick that some of the details were hard to see.
There's this saying that goes, "most people dont listen to understand, they listen to respond" You can tell just by looking at Adam that he really listens to understand. Its a great quality that few people seem to share.
what an amazing opportunity to make this film, props to rupert and ash thorp and vitaly bulgarov and the rest of the team who worked so hard on the film.
Practical Effects in a Modern SciFi movie?!
Josh B. Nimble That's what I like to see!
Josh B. Nimble remember that space bread from the force awakens that grew out of some powder and liquid? That was practical.
just wait until the new bladerunner movie!
**head explodes**
that's the trend actually.
and that's an AMAZING trend - smart blending of CGI with practical effects (Mad max for example) gives amazing results
The geisha robot design was absolutely the best thing about the film
Looking forward to seeing the work of these guys on the big screen!
I had listened every commentary from Richard Taylor on the Lord of the Rings. This guy and his team are pure geniuses. Thank you Mr Taylor for your generosity and sharing your passion.
I can't imagine how much the production team (makeup artists in particular) as well as the actors must appreciate how easy these things are to put on and off. minimizing that time must be a real quality of life improvement for everyone involved. I already have some cosplayer friends drooling over the idea of how these are constructed for their own masks.
Stunning work as always! So amazing!
Sadly, I'm not super hyped for this movie, despite being a huge fan of the original film. I feel that part of GITS strength comes from its Eastern cinematography, like very spare usage of slow motion, use of long takes in action, etc (see John Wick if you want a good example). Most Western films, however, use fast cuts, abuse slow motion, and focuses more on spectacle than substance in set pieces.
eLyUKayEe Denis Villeuneve is a perfect example of the opposite. Check his movies out.
eLyUKayEe even the fight scenes are not edited properly compared to Asian movies. Jackie Chan talked about it few times. How western movies are unable to properly show a simple punch.
i can see this film having a cut every 10 seconds or less
really, I feel it'll just be an dumb action movie with nothing to say. I also dread how horrible their version of the major will be. GitS was about practical and somewhat believable advances in technology and how that would effect society, relationships and individuality. It also had a fully realized alternate Geo-political situation that had real effects on the story. GitS was always so smart. I'm doubting this will even be a goodish movie, comparing it to the original or even one of the series... it'll look like a joke.
"Thats a BINGO"
I hope that the movie is good. I really really hope. I don't think it will be good but I HOPE with all my bloody heart that it will be good.
At the very least it looks like it'll be a good movie when judged on its own merits.
KalDragon doubt it. It'll be mediocre on it's merits and utter garbage as part of a franchise.
MrRavellon Shut up, you haven't even seen it.
So, what we have here is a live-action version of a classic animated film. The thinking seems to be, "Hey! It works for Disney several times a year. Next up: a live action version of "Mulan."
No - wait. Disney already announced that? Okay, how about "The Wild Thornberrys"? Is there a part for Chris Pratt or that tiresome Jennifer Laurence person? Is she washed up, yet?
Seriously, though, if they just transfer "Ghost in the Shell" directly to the screen, with no "imaginative re-imagining" of the source material, they'll have a worldwide hit.
TheStockwell but it is quite obvious the reworked the plot entirely.
Simply amazing. Digital work is getting to the point that its becoming at times seamless compared to reality. But its the practical effects like this that gives great movies a whole other level. You know its a model or mask. But when you see it on screen and see the craft of these artists you will never forget it. And when done right its better than anything done on computers.
Duck! God, this brings back sooo many memories of 2002+, when I was obsessed with the Lord of the Rings trilogy and watched all special features on the extended dvds, loving every minute of it. ~blissful sigh~
I wasn't sure who he was talking about when he mentioned the famous Japanese actress. Fukushima Rila was the model inspiration for the face. Really cool to see this!
This is the kind of stuff why I love Tested
I love weta workshop! I have had the pleasure to go on tour through it twice, thank you for sharing this I had no idea weta was involved with Ghost in the shell.
Aaron Briggs so lucky
UA-cam needs more of this. I remember being a kid watching Discovery Channel and the like, when they would show these amazing special FX behind the scenes production. Completely unreal how much work goes in to this stuff; and yes even when it comes to CGI.
This is why I watch Tested. I can tolerate the endless parade of horrible infomercials as long as you keep making content like this. Absolutely amazing.
Thank you so much for this! This is absolutely fascinating.
These things are incredible! Weta Workshop is my dream job for sure! If only they would open up a branch in Canada...
Rob Spithoff Yup fuckin Justin Trudeau
Rob Spithoff it's my dream job and I'm from New Zealand

Off comes the mask?
Your passion is amazing Adam please do more. You get everyone excited not only me but the people you speak seem very relaxed with you, literally you are opening a curtain to a film world we have never seen. Keep up the good work!!
Just fantastic craftsmanship. I love that the film makers allowed Weta to take it this far you really have to respect that. Amazing job for all involved i cant wait to see the movie too.
I really hope this movie doesn't suck.
it will. im sorry.
oh so you saw it?
failandia it's nearly guaranteed
It's a Hollywood movie. Sorry, man. The only reason you might want to watch it is to appreciate the craft that went into it. The movie itself will have nothing of substance.
Leave the bias behind and watch it with an open mind. You might be surprised.
I want the cyborg geisha that can open its face for my living room ! :o
Weta makes saleable statues, the geisha is one such; the whole thing stands about a foot tall(?), and has an interchangeable head so that you can have open or closed face. It's the whole geisha, though, and not just the head.
SAME
@@sheamurray-phelan5416well thats what the geisha were for
Easier options I guess... You can get the Blufans version of Ghost in the Shell the Bluray box is a geisha with an opening face. And someone did a limited run of A4 lenticular posters or steelbook magnets of the opening face too. . If you can find the Staff Box version of Ghost in the Shell Innocence that has the doll face opening too. They did some weird limited editions of Ghost in the Shell Innocence, including the fabled 'Dog Box' which included a basset hound music box...
And that's how you make nightmares... with Adam Savage!
The workflow explanation of his is excelent: i never ever heard anyone to describe the process of managing creative processes so clearly and simply.
Shouts out to Tested's cinematography. All the subtle pans and well placed inserts are some of the best on YT.
Can't wait for SAO the western movie.
*Throws up*
tbh they cant get worse than the anime
lego films 1 Gonna be Tv show
+Chocolate Storm Just you wait lol
Attack on Titan live action Hollywood movie. Directed by Michael Bay.
Jesper
Well i believe a SAO liveaction could work better than Jojo....
its just teens ... or teen and his harem fighting Possible cgi.
OOR they could make it "live action" and do it in a Final Fantasy kinda style.
it can't become much worse in storytelling and the story itself is simple but genious... id give it a try.
I love you Adam Savage! Your videos always brightens my day!
I have a bad feeling that the movie will suck...maybe it will do well at the box office but it won't win critics or fans over
Daniel Lau who knows? maybe a miracle will happen
Daniel Lau Name one comic, manga based movie that is loved by fans
All You Need is Kill - Edge of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow, Death Note, Rurouni Kenshin
Pho Chigga Pacific Rim.
Richard Taylor is a pioneer and just an amazing artist and comminicator. Him and his team are some of the most talented makers and innovators in the world in their field. Just beautiful pieces as usual.
Superb! I love the old fashioned clock work inside that face and the way the "petals", as he calls them, fit together. Fantastic!
Looks quite nice. That's one of the downsides to the movie, it probably will only be in the movie for a few minutes at best, you wont get close up looks of it probably or if you do it will be quick ones. So most people will miss out on the intricacies of these models.
iamfuturetrunks but it's steampunk it has nothing to do with the original source
7:53 looks like ballora from fnaf sl
Well, they're simmilar.
Now I want to watch the movie.
AGAIN
Same
Watch the anime instead.
it's not very good, the anime is still a million times better.
Absolutely amazing, these guys are modern wizards. And a proper shout out to the Darkness statue head in the back ground.
I got to visit Weta in November and you could just feel the passion in every room. It was one of the most amazing parts of my trip getting to be around so much film and fx history.
When the animated film came out in 1995 it blew my mind and to this day it is my favourite film of all time. I will watch the new one when it comes out, but I fear I will be disappointed. But there is always the hope of something good. I just hope they do not shit on the original to badly.
Rakadis they already did with the props don't you remember he made them steam punk cause he liked hugo and doesn't want it to be "hard tech" even though that's what ghost in the shell is its like making a star wars reboot but making Jedi wizards and their lights sabers wands just cause the director liked harry potter and didn't like the future feel of star wars this one is less exaggerated but it's the same thing just in a smaller way
i disagree. there was a lot of old-school tech elements in the GitS movies, especially the second one. it was more about old Japan and the contrast vs the new stuff, but if you see the thermosuit it looks futuristic as hell, vs a really old theme of prostitute/entertainer (some say it's the oldest job in the world, a profundly human one) being lavishly synthetic but elegant, like there was more than one way to do tech, a human one and an automated one. I imagine Motoko in the basin with those high-tech machine VS some old guy polishing the skin and adjusting the eyes on those geishas in his crummy workshop. to me it highlights a lot of Japanese modern culture in a way the animations couldn't (especially with the revival of the old traditional crafts in the last 20-30 years)
in a cultore about robots and whether or not things have souls, it becomes very interesting to see those robots being "born" with human hands or soullessly manufactured.
then again, I only go with what we've seen so far. we have to wait for the movie before judging it.
"Everytime I come is an adventure."
7:27 I want to have that Geisha in my room as a decoration/statue because its gorgeous and amazing
*sOBs ;^;*
As a huge fan of Ghost in the Shell, I am so excited to see the new film. I love the look of these freaky geishas, and I'm glad Adam was able to give us a look behind the scenes.

went to the premiere in paris.... i was disappointed
Noooooooooo
BrokenGlass043 Chris Stuckman made a review of the movie and he is pleased by it. He's a big movie and anime fan, and he said the movie is mostly faithful to the original.
That's true, but there are also some other reviews of people who didn't like it. I trust Chris, but I will see it for myself, I hope it's as good as he said =)
Richard is excellent about talking about his work in such an engaging way. Great interview, and gorgeous props.
Beautifully made...congrats for the whole robotics team! Ghost in the Shell is a Cornerstone for modern sci-fi anime movies and a foundation for many sci-fi and futuristic transcendental movies and series! hope the movie is loyal to its anime counterpart! cant wait to watch it!!
first thought at 7:58 was sister location. apart from that everything is so pretty and i really want to watch this
clara tan Ikr
I'm pumped for Ghost in a Shell. Might be the 1st anime to live action movie that does it right
DangerMou$e they made it steam punk so I doubt it
Charles Pwnage it seems to me you have no idea what steampunk is
Charles Pwnage No they are not, do you even hear what they say in this video?
Super Moon i do im talking about the look you see gold and clockwork machinery in steampunk not cyberpunk
Icex Aoki ues he doesn't want hard tech that's against what gits is
here's to using actual props instead of CGI, bravo.
Weta Workshop is second to none. Incredible artists.
Award Winning stuff here, produced from scratch at WETA WORKSHOP. Wonderful craftspeople. Fantastic work! ☕📽😸

UA-cam comments are cancer mate. I lost hope in the purpose of having a comment section for this website long ago.
Kimnori 9 *are *negative
sowhazupguy sorry, im not an English native speaker :)
Fixed Face ???
I dunno, it's pretty reasonable to be wary and not expect anything from the movie. Most adaptations of eastern properties turn out bad from the perspective of the people who liked the original, and many people don't see a reason for it to be adapted at all. People have been burned too many times to think that this will be any good.
Like fnaf sl!
I'm any original Whisky Tested fan, Adam has taken the site beyond what I thought was possible. Amazing guy!
You can tell really how much of a master both Richard and Weta are in their craft. WoW
I'm dreading this movie.
Johansson just....lacks the power the major has.
Ryona Angel one can only hope.
Ryona Angel I hate the fact that they cast Johansson. Sure, sure she's been in action movies and has been an action star before, but she was always playing the same character: Scarlett Johansson. She is the same person in every movie, and I don't want GITS to be a Scarlett Johansson movie. I want GITS to be a GITS movie.
if you want an example of scarletts ability to act stoic and emotionless watch her in "under the skin", i think she will do a great job at portraying the major.
In "under the skin" she made an amazing job
Yeah, that is the biggest problem the movie looks like it has.
Man when I saw the geisha animatronic face open up my memories went straight to fnaf: sister location
straight up Sister location around here
who agrees
Omg, I agree so much with this!
The whole ideal with robots having their face plates open was before FNaF.
I love Weta Workshop's work. Each prop is a work of art.
The movie definitely has a chance of living up to the anime. With craftsmanship like this we just might be wowed! The scene in GITS where the geisha's face does this is one of my favorite scenes, and they seem to have nailed it. Looking forward to the movie .
"eagerly awaited" Like I get it you need to be gracious to your host but come on now.
A lot of people quite eagerly await the movie. Not because they feel like it's going to be the best movie ever, but because they want to see if it is okay or if it will crash and burn.
It will probably make money and suck tremendously at the same time.
Like your mom?Sorry, couldn't not :P
He's probably one of the most famously enthusiastic men in the world.
am I the only one that thinks Ballora
Comedy DuDe not at all XD
this movie is going to suck so bad
That is the unfortunate truth.
evan butler woah there howd you conclude that
At least Blade Runner looks like it'll be great.
Its hardly an assumption ice, it's obvious if you watch any of the preview content.
yap
The passion in his craft and film in general is so inspiring!
that animatronic head was really rad and i love how they are clean and futuristic on the outside but steampunk/handcrafted inside
this thing reminds of ballora from sister location
not_madness4 89 but its better
Please do not compare this masterpiece to that.
She's like a balance between Ballora and Funtime Freddy/ Funtime Foxy because their color but humanoid like features of Ballora.
I was interested until they zoomed in and they showed gears and cogs like its some steam punk trash. That crap doesn't really scream advanced robotics
I was just fascinated about how they pulled that off, keeping the gears spinning. How tiny must their servos be? I had a mini freakout at that point. Also the detail in the metal, especially around the eyes.
Yea, gears don't make great robotics (sprockets do every once and awhile) but they certainly look cool and unique compared to the massive amount of Sci-fi material that's flooded the industry.
CreationsOfKoon. in a future where superhuman prosthetics are common couldnt you see such things being built as nich market luxury items? think of super high end cars built today, modern technology makes many automotive components dirt cheap to make in an effective and efficient way....yet people pay extra for a car with hand crafted highly artistic hood hinges.
It's a marriage of form and function. You could build an advanced robot out of hand-carved, laquered wood instead of machined plastic.
I also find this unfitting, the robots in GitS always looked very futuristic, but plausible. There was no sign of old craftmansship. The gears also look a little bit dated and no real engineer would expose them so much. All good craftmansship of the artists in honor, but I think I like the animated version more.
you want it to look like I, Robot?
I'm so torn to see this movie. They did so much work to make it so incredible but not enough to use Asian actors on clearly an Asian movie. Yes that again. I love manga and anime too much to not say something.
I'm may have to bite the bullet, but the jury not out yet.
Great vid about truly talented workers and prop makers on the set.
frank lowery Have you actually looked at the cast? The majority are Asian, this whole big 'white washing' bull comes from Scarlet Johansen being the lead. It's literally not true.
And I agree with the writer
Thank you for showing off Weta!
I credit you for teaching me about them. And affording me the opportunity to visit them on my recent vacation. It was my favorite experience of visiting New Zealand.
I love being able to see these sort of things especially since it's being made in the country I live in..! And to see Adam get excited about it made me even more excited! I can't wait to see the movie
Those things remind me of something from FNAF...
