true that. mythbusters got me out of class early once. my teacher said whoever answers his question correct gets to get out of class 15 mins early. the question was "what is the only sound that has no echo?"
all the kids were answering stuff like like "whispering", "no sound at all", "an echo" but me sitting in the back smirking put my hand up and said "a duck". he said "howd you know?" and i said "i saw it on mythbusters" as i was walking out the door with my bag lol

Why would he be bitter? Even in this video, he called Jamie the best engineer he's ever known.
They weren't pals, they never will be. They've both said it themselves, their personalities are just nothing alike. But they've both expressed nothing but professional respect for one another. A really great TV show might run for 6, 7, MAYBE 10 years. Mythbusters got 17 seasons and nearly 300 episodes.

There's a lot of documentation for Mythbusters, and I would be just as excited to visit exhibits built by new makers as I would to see one of Busters original pieces in all its charred glory. Or a VR experience of The Exploding Toilet, a full set you can wander around while it explodes in slow motion. Or a recreation of Adam blowing off his eyebrow with the scale model, with hair dryers for a hot blast and a chair tilt while the headset flashes and bangs. They didn't seem too concerned with posterity while they made the show, but I think Mythbusters is interactive. Fans will keep it going, if we put it in boxes like "tv show" or "hosts do science" we ignore the crazy ambitions that have inspired so many.

I know that guy! His workshop is legendary!
My dads been a Taxidermist for nearly 60 years. In Georgia just outside of Chattanooga Tennessee.
If there were ever a time he needed a fiberglass cast of a fish, he got them from that guy. He’s known him for at least 40 years. He and dad are truly old-timers in the craft, and have been doing it longer than anyone alive. That I’m aware of. Dad was 80 yesterday, and started taxidermy in his late teens. Had the same phone number since phone lines were put in.
Dad had a 14 foot Mako shark on top of his van through the 70s and 80s.
I think they actually went out of business earlier this year, which is a shame. Because they made some of the best fiberglass casts in the world.
I know the older gentleman who started the company passed away. So maybe they sold out to someone. I know I was really bummed to hear they might/did shut down.
I know China was really cutting into their profits. They have these massive mold houses in China, and ship them to the states for pennies on the dollar. And they had been cutting into his business for about 20 years.
I’ve been down there several times, The first time before I was even born. Him and my mom took a trip down there when she was eight months pregnant, to get a load of fish molds. And my dad‘s old van broke down and they ended up walking up the interstate in the middle of August weather 😂 Heard that story my whole life.
It was such a cool place, he was really old school, I always loved visits to his shop and the surrounding area was amazingly dangerous! I loved it!.
Hilarious that you mention them, and got to use one of their casts.

My eyes lit up when I saw this shark in the thumbnail. I remember this! Kinda sad this has to be sold off, it doesn't deserve to be hidden away in some private collection. The world needs to see this kind of thing, put it in a science museum.

I wonder if Adam feels differently about working with Jamie again. I know after the show ended he said they'd never work together again, but anytime he talks about those days the pure joy on his face is just there for everyone to see. I'm not saying they should bring the show back. It's probably better off left alone, but I am curious if Adams thoughts on working with Jamie again have changed over the years.

I’d really like a “where are they now” for these sold Mythbusters props. As much as Adam is optimistic about them being displayed in a goofy manner for the whole world to see, I can’t help but think they’re secreted away in mancaves and private collections where few people can ever back in their glory anymore

It would be amazing to see Mythbusters make a return. So many Myths still to test. Its sad that both Adam and Jamie have stated they have no interest in working together. My impression is while both respect each other deeply, their personalities are too diverse and don't mesh well with each other on a personal level. In short, they didn't get along well.

In a real shark attack, beyond simply being thrashed around, you also have the other problems of severe trauma to your body from lacerations, blood loss, and possibly broken bones, and then on top of that is the fact that sharks have a retractable membrane that automatically covers their eyes specifically to protect them from damage caused by thrashing prey. So even if you could manage to locate and poke a shark in the eye while suffering grievous bodily harm, it wouldn't do a damn thing.
