That will be great and easy for a lot of people like me they are trying to get one I appreciate you for the information
I may start offering some. We shall see what this year brings. But definitely easy to make
I’m a lefty which immediately complicates my holster choices! And when I see the lead times right now it ultimately led me trying to figure out how I can DIY this process. Your channel is making me feel extra confident. There’s so much detail and tips seriously thank you!
Also...Live Free or Die 😏
My dude! We should just give it to the first commenter on this video. Well, well, well... looks like we have a winner. lol Seriously though, thanks for doing this. I'm learning as I go and you're making it easier.
Made mine about 2 months ago, 20×18 table, it only cost me about 70 dollars( 2.5 pump and tubing and fitting)very easy and it works great.
I genuinely appreciate your willingness to share info. Seriously, thanks.
Such a nice and fast mold once it gets built.. I love how it just easily sucks the kydex to the mold and I’m assuming cools it at the same time. I got to make one of these. Great job
Thanks for the video brother, will for sure make one of those for myself.
Dude, thank you. This is gnna b a huge asset to my knife business. Almost dropped bout $500 on one of these and didnt want to do that. I already have the compressor, perfect.
Hell ya man. Glad you found this video before buying! I'm about to build a second set up
Thanks man you have helped me threw my kydex class at SDI , thanks for the vids I’m in Cali and I’m looking to start making holsters. Once again thanks for the videos
Hell yes
I been trying to make my own vac table and in the area them from have been very hard to find the correct guidance thank you for the information
In all honesty, any hard flat surface that your able to drill a center hole will work. Could be hdpe, counter top, metal, whatever really
I try looking for the kit in planbholster but is not longer available by any chance do you know another site the I can buy the kit?
@@renemartinez8143 I am not sure of any other kits. Maybe I should build a couple
I'm just starting to begin, making my own Holster. And I would luv to sign up to Win this Vac System Setup! I was going to do it the clamping technique. But I think I will wait until I see if my chance to get this happens! Thx for the opportunity for this.
This ended a while a good my friend. But the material can be found at planbholsters.com
Iggy, you are THE man!
I spent an hour yesterday watching vids on making my own vac table, and then my man Iggy reads my mind and comes through!
Great video. I've learned so much from watching. I've sold a few holsters but I'm very much an amateur. Thanks again.
Iggy, try this tapping tip if you don’t/broke/walked away a tap handle.
After drilling the correct tap hole into the material with a drill press, don’t release the material from the drill press table. Replace the drill bit with the tap in the drill chuck.
DO NOT TURN ON THE DRILL PRESS!!!!!
Lower the chuck & tap to the material. Keeping slight down pressure on the drill press handle, grasp the chuck with your other hand and rotate it clockwise. After a few rotations of the chuck & tap, the threads will start to be cut into the material. Rotate to depth, CCW to back out and your done.
Yes, it can be done under power, I just don’t like breaking & extracting broken taps. Also can be down with a hand drill as long you can keep the drill at 90 degrees to the material.
Where can I get the the square frame that you are putting over the kydex to seal the edges for a air tight fit. Thanks
You can actually get a kit at planbholsters.com or search 8020 extruded aluminum
Nice job, very innovative! Keep up the great work as the goal is to continue to inspire others to DIY and build something awesome!
I would love to see a video on making a han solo blaster drop leg holster.
Haha you saw that too huh!! Lol
@@joshmajor8662 we talking about Brandon's video? I saw it, realized I have a bufferless 22lr ar....and may have started ordering new parts for it......maybe...
@@scottjackson1636 haha exactly!!! I’m with ya there, maybe Lol truthfully I think you could make an awesome looking thigh rig for a blaster!!! If I’m being honest I hated the look of Brandon’s lol seemed rushed. It’s got some real potential tho!!!
@@joshmajor8662 star wars really. Come on. Lol I still have all the original figures and ships, including an AT AT
@@armandoveloz5644 of course Star Wars haha what are you talking about haha
i also am a brand new holster maker trying to hone my craft. A vaccume tablee would be very helpfull.
It is very helpful! The vac pump us the most expensive part. But the table is under 100
What size and thread pitch was the brass fitting that you installed in your aluminum plate?
Depends on what you get. Mine was a 1/2 fitting. I'll have to look at what dies I purchased but when you get the fitting it'll say on the package
Great learning video for those of us just learning. What's the reasoning for vacuum vs pressing, vice versa. Thanks for your help. Does it depend on two piece vs taco style
vac is more accurate and faster than foam. foam is when they dont make molds for what you need lol. one off designs and such but vac forming is the most accurate. Things can move in the foam press.
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC can you use a vacuum on an actual firearm instead of mold?
Would you recommend a 3/8" hose or 1/2" vacuum hose?
Mine is 1/2 on thr ones I use. The more air you move quickly has an effect on the material for sure
Rock on, thanks man. I appreciate all the videos.
That looked very easy, maybe it was just the teacher!
Wow fantastic info and thank you for sharing. I see your vacuum pump is 12cfm so my question is for DYS holster builder that makes holsters for myself and friends do I need a vacuum pump with that high of a flow rate? Next question beside getting a good seal when vacuum forming at what PSIV -pressure should I have a crisp well defined holster? Last question I'm a aircraft AMT by trade so tend to"over build things so I need to ask about contamination of you vacuum pump do you feel there is a need for a "debris trap"? thx Rich Johnson
Overbuilding is a good quality to have. I chose 12 cfm to have maximum suck. But you can get good results with 3 cfm. I just rather buy once and cry once. According to the gauge I get about 28 to 29 inches of mercury with each pull which sounds right at my altitude. They do make inline filters as well for the vac. I personally don't have one and I keep a piece of tape over the hole when not in use.
Where do you get your vacuum molds from... Every time I've seen a vacuum table there's always like a 100 holes how does this work with just one. I mean I know it works I'm just trying to understand if it has to do with the mold or if there's something that I have to do if I make my own molds
Vac table only needs 1 hole to work. Vac molds need multiple so the dex suxks down into the crevices. Most of my molds are palehorseconcealment.com.
I list the molds I use in the videos in the description
What is the nozzle fitting that you screw in? Where can I find it since Plan B no longer sells the fitting kit?
The hose barb? I got all the fittings at home depot
Do you think it's possible to make a holster with a 6 CFM vacuum pump?
Absolutely. With dex around 380⁰. But more suck means more definition and cleaner lines.
Hey how is the weather in NH, we lived In Vermont and the wife was born and raised In Connecticut now we live and retired in Tennessee.
What a good video, I have several questions, the mold of what material is made, did you make it with cnc, or with what machine, a video making the molds would be good. I congratulate you again, greetings from Colombia
hello there! these molds are made from a couple different materials. first is HDPE which is the white plastic and those are cnc machined. the other tan stuff is MDF and is also cut from a cnc machine. It is possible to make your own splits for vacum forming and im sure ill make a video on how to do it again. If youre interested in the splits i use, you can find them here
planbholsters.com
oxcreektactical.com
bubbasholsterco.com
Great vid brother.
Is the 1-1/4" thickness for the HDPE critical? I can only find 1" locally.
I personally would go below an inch thickness. Over time heat could warp if too small
Where do you get the molds? I am able to 3d print but I have not seen a lot of stuff available to print off but if you can buy them from someone I would love to check it out! I am very interested in doing this and I like the way your table is setup, I assume the mold you put over the hole has some kind of holes in it to let the vaccum pull though?
Palehorseconcealment.com
Planbholsters.com
Oxcreektactical.com
Where do you find the square tubing you use for the frame?
Check the video I did on how to build and where to get the frame. It's 80/20 extruded frame
Can you make a pancake holster with this ?
Yes. Different molds.
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC like if I use the old tape up my pistol method and folding it over would the vac still pull through ? The top layer might be an issue I would think ?
@Jonathan Banuelos eh. It's been done but not the best. You'd put foam on the bottom. Then the mold/kydex assembly. Not a lot of Def on one side. Really ment for t seperate presses
Question for ya, does it matter if the surface of the HDPE has a little texture to it ? Or should it be completely flat
Flat is best in my opinion
Can you post the links for where I can find the materials to build the pump setup you have?
I usually put that info in the description. But the plate was from xometey.com pump was amazon and the tube was from online with a Google search of vacuum hose and the fittings were home depot
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Thank you!
What is the thickness of this board and can you use a thinner board?
.675 or something like that. Yes you can use whatever thickness you want. Just remember hot material is going on it. Too thin and it'll warp
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC thanks for the info. I'm having trouble finding the right holster and watching your videos has given me the motivation to try and make one.
This is perfect thank you!!
is that red pipe just pex pipe?
I guess you have already gave that bad body away, after 2 years!? I want to build one of those vaccum table rigs. That turned out awesome!
ya thats long gone. but very easy to make them
Hey man, I'm thinking about building one of these.... Do you think a shopvac is going to be strong enough? I dont have vac chambers and air compressors handy.
Nope. Tried it years ago
Set one up basically identical to this, but it’s not working. Not forming anything I’m sure I’ve missed something simple, but haven’t figured out what.
Make sure the mold hovers off the plate or nothing with happen. I use steel mesh
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC ok thanks
What's the minimum thickness material you would use for this?
If it's metal. Can be thin. Mine is .6 aluminum I believe. You can do quarter inch if you'd like.
What the minimum thickness you recommend for HDPE?
@Stretch17 also depends on how much your going to vac. Heat transfers and hdpe warps if too hot. I probably wouldn't go below 3/4 inch. But small runs you can get away with little thinner
@FalTacUnlimitedLLC Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I am happy just to have a chance.
Question, will 25 inches of vacuum be adequate?
Absolutely
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC got a gast 8cfm oil less rotary vane style for a real good deal.
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC thank and you
Brother you are a f**kin rock star! That hands free pedal is brilliant! Where did you get it?
Amazon My friend. It's called a pedal switch
It’s not pounds of mercury. It’s inches. Love the vid, thank you.
I’ll ponder and get back to ya Lol 👍🏼
How thick is your aluminum plate?
.658 or something like that
@@FalTacUnlimitedLLC awesome, I’ve ordered a piece of 1/2 aluminum plate 12x14. I’m hoping it will be thick enough. Super excited to start bending kydex. Love the videos!
@@atvridah plenty thick!
You don’t bottom out an NPT tap. 2/3 of the way.
What about this, have the contestants make a mag carrier or something small using something other than a vac press. See which is best or worst and choose the winner that way?? I think we should have to show you we’re serious about using the prizes, I would immediately start making molds and frames and then actual holsters/carriers/sheaths. I could see most of the winners just getting it and not actually using it, just an idea tho 👍🏼 either way I’m game!! Thanks again man
movie quotes are fine
Great Video. Gonna start getting my materials together for this. Only question, no cutting oil for the tap?
Oil for the tap if its metal the video shows non metal board being tapped
Ask a open ended question that makes you think, not one with a real answer, either pick the one you liked best or random generate a number based on the comments after X amount of time, this should would probably help the tubes algorithm's because it would get the comment section going on a particular video.
Could even be something like asking why people got into bending kydex in the first place.
Bro, can u sell it? I wanna buy kydex vacuum machine the cheapest u can made for me, ship to malaysia
I could use a vac table when is the giveaway?
Still trying to figure out how to do it. May just do a video and add all commentary to a random selector
I'm in for the giveaway. Contest idea - random number generator = lat/long - closest subscriber wins
Bummer, just saw this video is older! Crap, oh well
10 minutes in and it's still just one hole drilled
Dance off to Pony
