I finished both sides of a very nasty job. Rear brakes were rusted solid, not working at all, parts broken, etc. your video is very step by step and easy to follow. I have done brakes before but not as bad as these. Keep up the great work!
My 93 YJ had that same broken adjuster cable. The top heavy spring that hooks thru the cable guide and holdes it against the shoe tends to not get the plate flat. Then the cable gets in back of that guide. So , everyone make sure the cable is not trapped behind the plate. Also in your vide at apx 4.0 into it, it shows that bottom spring that connects the shoes at the bottom going into the larger hole in the shoe. Not sure but in this position, the spring going across does not touch at the top of the adjuster notched wheel on the adjuster. I think it is supposed to be hooked thru that smaller lower hole. That way, it prevents the adjuster from turn back by resting on the notches. Least on mine, with it in the upper large hole, it does not touch. Maybe on yours, it does touch. It really in not clear in OEM service manual. Haynes manual appears like yours but think it is wrong. Any opinions out there? I have a rear left wheel locking up. My turm appears to run out .030. Right side is about .015 and does not lock up. So am replacing drums and will post back if it fixes it. Rear brakes are a pain. My right handbrake cable was frozen up also. Real pain since is seems to be a little mismatch now to old left side at the bellcrank on the frame being angled now.
Will water hurt anything if you spray water to keep dust down and then wire brush. Then brake cleaner. I was wondering if breathing this is a health risk now days. I also want to paint the area. (Not the pads)
Omg 7 mins in and couldn't watch it anymore...guys please top springs first...then the 2 round springs in the middle of the shoes... Then you spread the shoes apart and pull it from the hub as a unit.
she's a keeper, nice work
Thank you you just saved me a lot of money I just got the job done because of you in this video thanks
Super good video, bailed me out in the middle of a ebrake repair. 3 thumbs up!

Yes they can be upgraded. There are kits available. One of the better upgrades would be the slotted discs.

The question is, does the photographer know how to do brakes?
Use safety glasses. Springs, and brake cleaner in the eyes, are both unpleasent. Ask me how I know.
