I love this lady she makes theses videos 100x better lol
Sue, Len and Andy are some of the best instructors on the internet! Thanks!
Omg when she was doing mistakes I was cringing so hard. But it's a good lesson to teach people so they do it right.
Oh man! Man! Come on man!
I didn’t. Anyone who has seen her other videos knows Sue is the brake expert and knows better. She pretended to screw up for our entertainment and education. :)
I do love their videos! They are some of the best and most reliable videos I have found. I try never to start a project without watching their video first.
A minute in an I already love this woman! My mother taught me as a kid how to do brakes, oil and fluids. She also taught me a lot of home remedies and being good with my hands. I’m thankful for that because it lead me to where I am today. I love working with my hands and tinkering. I’m here today because I haven’t touched drum brakes in over 20 years. Need a refresher. All of my vehicles have been disk. Super easy. I’ve always found these to be slightly more daunting.
FWIW, anytime I go to Home Improvement or Auto shops, I’ll always try to talk to the woman that is working. 9/10 they’re on their A game. They know where everything is and I find them to be more helpful and knowledgeable than the men. Always pleasant and patient. Shout out to all of you bad ass women! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
That was awesome! Enjoyed all the mess ups and screw ups like the brake line zip tied to the shock! 😁👍🏻

BRO this lady makes these videos so much more enjoyable. 🥹💜
Thank god for this video...my wife's cars drum brakes are starting to wear down and I told her I could replace them and said no wait until they start squeaking I'm like no babe that's dangerous....not only that but I like gaining experience from doing something like this and saving money
My wife is gonna learn sooner or later bad brakes dont last long at all
Drum breaks almost never come with the metal tabs that squeak. They do sometimes squeak when the drums surface is really damaged like the ones in the video but driving like that is dangerous
For disc brakes only. Once I hear the warning whistle, as I call it. I start saving money up for the brakes. Depending on how much you drive, or brake,,should be about a month. 2 Easy. But not guaranteed. Gather up the money. And if I have the money already, I go ahead and buy the brakes and throw them in the trunk. I personally will let the warning whistle go for a while. But as soon as the brakes grab hard, within the next seven or or eight days, I replace my brakes.
Great vid. I'd love working with her in a shop. She sounds fun.
😂😂I was putting them factory clips back on the drums for work. Noted✍🏾
Thank you for going over proper E-brake adjustments. Nobody else has. Not even Chris Fix or the other big names. I'll be sure to double check that with mine.
Excellent Teacher!!
Awesome
I applied the e-brake and pumped the brakes with the drum off, and now I can't fit the drum back on anymore.
What do?
Really good video; covered some finer points ; thanks !!!!!!
She was entertaining a very knowledgeable. Would love to see her on more vids.
this lady is gold. confident, talented, experienced and a good presenter.
Great demo Sue! Funny too!
I love the way she explains!!!!
Great video for newbees I fondly remember doing many drum brakes over the years. And yes safety first. Thanks The old school guy.
Thank You, I was messing up with Cylinder popping out and leaking every time. This video helps a lot.
So a question I was planning on replacing my drum brake on the Corolla 2011. Do I need to adjust the emergency line after doing drum brake?
I wanna celebrate New Years with this lady.
🤣
Me tooo
Now this is how a good video is made. I love the disclaimer paragraph right at the start. No BS or theatrics, just show 'em how it's done. Nice!
That vehicle looks like it came in from 'Jersey!! Lol 😆
Nice video of what not to do. Still unsure if I want to do the rear brake drums for my 2009 Honda Fit. Not a rusted mess like this car ! All of it’s miles in the South !

I had to loosen my hand brake completely. Was getting no where until I saw this. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 👍
Yo she is on🔥
Love the energy you put out in the videos, thank you :D
Wow great video, I went to a community college for Automotive, you would be a fantastic teacher!
I learnt lodes. Thanks for the great video!
Just put new wheel cylinder brake pads drum on driver side.
The old one had a yellow plastic spacer in between the drum and hub..
Turned the wheel bearing and drum get a grinding sound 90% sure it's not the shoes. Pretty sure it's the backing plate.
Do I just put a new spacer or is there a way I can figure out where the grinding is on the backing plate and drum?
Do you have a video showing this process??
should re-title this to 'mistakes I made when doing my brakes'.... can't wait to see how many I made, lol
+Swan Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
so great to see a Lady doing this, tried hard to teach both my kids {girl & boy} all bout how to fix your car, given my daily driver is a '64 Merc so easy to teach them
I've never had to adjust a brake cable doing that job unless the brake cable was too loose. And to adjust the brake cables on a system like that, you put on the new brakes, you close the adjustment so that the brake drum slides on uncomfortably but not too tight. Take the vehicle to where you got a lot of room and drive backwards up to about 10 or 15 miles per hour and then slam on the brakes. That will automatically adjust the shoes inside of the brake drum. Caution. Skilled drivers only
I was so happy to see another film with this fairy lady-mechanic. The film broaden my knowledge on many details of drum brakes. Thank you so much!
you are one impressive lady. thanks for your videos
Thank You for the great tips! The voice of Experience!

Thank you for these tips, that drum looked like it was taken off a wagon it was so old. :)
Well done. Always learn heaps and refresh old learning by watching these vids. You're a great tech;-)
Thank you
I salute you for a very detailed info and how to. So crystal clear on explanations. Kudos to you. 👍😍
+Greg Santos Thanks for the feedback!
One subtle point I’ve messed up in the past is getting the shoes on the correct front or rear orientation. Was hoping to see that here. Also I don’t know how you New England folks can stand working on so many corroded parts all the time. 😨
Always remember if short shoe in the front long shoe to the rear. Unless both shoes are the same length on the breaking pad itself. Back in the day they called it a short shoe and a long shoe short shoe to the front long shoe to the rear
By the way... Happy Women's Month!!!! This woman deserves every salute she's having.
I think she never seen a nightmare, the way the drum got off was so easy
133k miles and never had brakes done???? I'm surprised there is any brake lining even left on those shoes and I'm surprised she didn't have to cut the drum off, or pull the axle shaft out to get the drum off.
Great video, I enjoyed the various scenarios presented.
I just removed both my rear brake drums for the first time ever! My secret. I used my $200 rubber sledge hammer from "Mac's Hardware." It is a 12 lb. Deadblow hammer that is 36" long. The drum had rust welded itself to the shaft that centers your wheel on the hub. 5 good whacks all over and it came right off!
Great presentation!!!
lol I am just asking did you use an old rusty vehicle from any type of junk yard. I'm just saying you had a great time ripping the old looking brake bums apart. Also thank you for demonstrating.
Thank you so much for this video سپاسگزارم

I love this video, reverse psychology works really well.
That lady is awesome, doing my drums on a 67 cadillac deville, the vice grips made me say ouch!!!! Good times!!!
Glad to see this. I am sure I would be the one to blow up a wheel cylinder. I gotta do drum brakes on an old Toyota Corolla with over 250k mi. I am hoping i don't make any mistakes.
I was about to scream to my phone when she didn't have safety glasses on! Great video.
I ruined a brand new wheel cylinder because I was trying to bleed the brakes with the drum on lol thanks for the info I didn’t know what I did wrong I replaced my wheel bearing and the last thing I have left is to do the rear drum brakes and I was having difficulty bleeding them. You helped a lot sometimes the simple things help people so much!
With the drum off I’m sorry
But nit all cars have use brake fluide for their Parking brakes , I guess , they just use the Small pedal to activate the Parking brakes ,is that right ?
Just like the Acadia 2007 !
I hate to say this but they do still make rivited brake shoes.
All the major brands still do. Not sure where she gets her info from.
Love that East Coast vibe! Checking the other side was called the Polish Blueprint.... It might be right LOL! Loved the vid... !!!
Thanks needed that part about emergency brake.
5:00 I learned that the hard way.
Awesome thanks very much 🙂

I have no garage. If i block or chalk my front 2 tires and put my rear axle on jack stands, is it safe to put truck in neautral to test the drag on the brake shoes and drum ?
I really need help with a nissan 2013. sv with
I took it to the shop to check brakes because they were low. Then the mechanic said it need to replace all nrakes in order to give me guarantee of the job. I let him to replace them and the car still the same.
So, i took it to Midas they are specialists in brake. and their disgnostic is the master cilinder and they were about to charge me 900 dlls . It is a lot of monet so i decide to do it myself, I replace the master sylinder but i have the same problem. What you can tell me to fix my problem? im desperate. This is my daughters car and i wanted to return ir to her but im frustrated with mechanics that tehy only want to rake advant of ppl. Please help me
#1 Never go to Midas, it's always $900 and honestly I'd avoid all major corporate chain places to look at it.
#2 If you've already paid for repairs they should guarantee their work till it's right. Have you told them? Or called a corporate office maybe?
#3 What happens when you pump the pedal does it get harder to press or stay low?
#4 Have you tried an online forum for your specific model vehicle?
#5 You could buy an online Haynes manual as a guide
My gramps always called that a flare nut wrench 5:59. Thanks for the great video.
the tip with heat was gold!
Now that I've had three heart attacks it's a good video.
+John Simms Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Great video!! 👍🏽Enjoyed!!
What is usually the cause for the brake shoes to get stuck when you disengage the emergency brake?
That drum looks amazing compared to my brothers: no pad material and part the brake drum separated hanging like a wedding band around the shoes😅😅😅
After installing a new drum and clips one of the clips came off inside the drum. Assuming it was put on correct what would be another reason for it to pop off???
enjoyed this video
The dead pan jokes made me watch this until the end when I had no reason to, love your filming style guys!
Great video! 👍
Bought a 2007 Saturn ion 2. Both front tires would skid when hard braking. Both rear wheel cylinders were bad. Replaced front rotors and calipers and pads. Then rear shoes and cylinders. Now my driver rear locks up and skids on hard braking. What did I do wrong?😢
2 weeks ago the mechanic replaced my rear brake shoes. Now my two rear brake cylinders are leaking fluid on the drum shoes and have ruined them. What do you suppose they did that could have caused that?
Loved this, it's like watching Larry The Cable Guy pretend to be ASE certified lol
She's a great actress 👍🏾 Great Work!
I’m honestly amazed she was able to get all that rusty crap out so easily.
+Anonymous Thanks for the feedback!
She's a warrior 💪
Sue and Andy are cool!
I blew a wheel cylinder because I forgot to put the drum on the good thing was they were old and the bleeder was stripped out so it needed replacing anyways
+joshua fisk Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
She must be Wonder Woman the way she pulled that old rusty drum off with bare hands.
It took me 2 days of pounding with a hammer and a whole can of PB blaster.......lol
I'm not sure if it's going to stop. I never saw her bleed that brake, which is a must after replacing that line.
Hahahha "i forgot to take pictures" worry not Mam. We got you cover. 😊
OK but how do you replace the brake cylinder? Because mine is attached.
Great video , thanks:
I got it all toghter, new cylinder installed, shoes installed, springs back on, then before installing the drum, pressed on the brake to test. blew out the cylinder, back to the drawing board.
Mention/explanation of radiusing (adjusting arc) of shoes to match (or slightly smaller than the drums can prevent some ugly problems “down the road”.
Another mistake I made is make sure you transfer the adjusting parts from the old shoes to the new ones.
Nice job
I love this smart lady
Amount of rust on that thing is amazing.
She's fun. As a veteran mechanic, I approve
