"One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness." "Though it seems enough to condemn him."
I didn't know this the first time I watched but the reason Jack says that is because the reason he was labeled a pirate was because he freed slaves he was suppose to transport. The good deed of freeing slaves condemned him to be branded as a pirate for the rest of his life. I really wish they kept the deleted scene from at worlds end explaining the situation.

About Jack's weird walking on land: It's called "sea legs" just to throw out a term. It's what sailors call the learned ability to walk normally on a boat and shift your balance to combat the sway. It's not that hard once you get the hang of it, but does throw your walking off to suddenly transition from sea to land, as is seen with Jack.

I think a win got missed: Elizabeth stabbing Barbosa is ballsy and badass, especially when she knows she's stranded on the ship with a crew. And just a bit rash, considering the crew is that crew who had literally been enjoying some sexual harassment just prior. But, she doesn't sit around and do nothing but scream, she stabs the pirate. I always liked that.

You are used to countering all those movements and suddenly nothing moves anymore. Now I personally never walked funny because of it (although it sure feels like you are walking funny) but I've also never spent more than 1 month on a sailing vessel. The cue in Gladiator is several seconds long only, and it doesn't even serve as the main melody. Although I wouldn't exactly call it harmony, this is where it does get subjective, as you can say it sounds very similar, but for me, the Pirates melody (He's a Pirate) has many phrases which are completely different and bare no resemblance. On top of this, just concentrating on the first movie to be fair, other themes like 'Skulls and Crossbones', 'The Black Pearl', 'The Medallion Calls', and 'The Underwater March' are totally original and help to support the main theme. The main melody itself has a lot of variations, in the form of the love theme ('One Last Shot'), the battle theme, ('Barbossa is Hungry'), and so on. It's really excusable at worst.

Once, he was tasked with transporting slaves, and, after days of toiling with the morality of it, released them. He was hunted down, and was forced to watch as his ship was burned down before he was marooned. He made a deal with davy jones for his ship, and it was brought back black and scorched by the fire. He was supposed to give davy jones an equal amount of souls as the number of slaves he released. This is why the line “you are, by far, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of” is important. That's exactly how I feel. I wouldn't consider it my favourite movie overall, because it lacks the the depth and slower, more emotionally charged parts of other great movies, but that's just because they aren't supposed to be there, not because the film makers did something wrong. "-One good deed is not enough to reddem a man of a lifetime of wickedness
    - But it seems enough to condemn him"
This seems in relation to what just happened (Jack saving Elisabeth), and it probably is. But it is quite deep to know that what made Jack a pirate is that he chose to liberate a haul of slaves, act that made him a criminal to the West Trade India Company.
This is further amplified in a dialogue (somehow cut from the movie, maybe not family friendly enough for Disney) between Jack and Becket in At World's End :
"-We had a deal, Jack. I contracted you to deliver cargo on my behalf, you chose to liberate it.
    -People aren't cargo mate.
-Your good deed cost me, Jack.
-And you have spared me any possibility of ending up as anything other what I am. And for that, I truly thank you."

Way back when I realized she kept the cursed gold coin around her neck, but it was trapped underneath her corset and that’s why the pirates weren’t drawn to her, I thought “this film is incredible”.
Subtle storytelling, where every element had a purpose. The corset wasn’t just for a throwaway joke or two, it was a way to introduce the cursed gold coin without having the pirates attack straight away. What seemed like a plot hole actually had a very conscious reason that it was implemented.

Not that I’m defending the scenario, but I do kind of get the choice not to have a younger actor in the Norrington role for the flashback scene...
I think Norrington’s hair in the flashback, vs the wig he has for the rest of the movie, was meant to telegraph to the audience that he too, was younger- Elizabeth was 10, & I think Norrington as a junior officer, was meant to be like 17-21 (back then, naval officers’ careers began when they were like 13, or so) - 8 years later, she’s now 18 & Norrington is only in his mid-late 20’s & the age-gap looks much less dramatic when she’s aged up into Kiera.
It would have looked less- odd, I guess, to have had a younger actor for the scene- but maybe they thought the costume & junior rank was enough...

Very unfortunate that you forgot to mention the greatest setup in the movie. Where Jack questioned the two soldiers in the beginning about the two ships he had in mind, learning that the Interceptor was much faster than the Dauntless, later to "commandeer" the Dauntless, luring Norrington and crew to prepare and sail out in the Interceptor, waiting for them all to board, in time to sneak over to the Interceptor and sail away. Winning the upper hand as the Interceptor is much faster than the Dauntless.

Barbosa mentions not being able to feel the warmth of a woman when he's describing the curse to Elizabeth.
