  • Trout fishing with spoons is deadly effective. These erratic trout fishing lures simply catch fish! In this video we will teach you what you need to know to be successful catching wild or stocked trout on spoons. The key to spoon fishing is in reeling just fast enough to keep a tight line while pumping the rod tip to give a darting and erratic action to the lure. A steady retrieve will catch fish, but an erratic retrieve will catch more. Jordan is going to talk about thinner spoons like your standard Daredevils, usually good later in the spring when the water is shallower, a little warmer, and trout are more aggressive. Jordan is also going to talk about heavier spoons like the kastmaster and how to fish those deeper to target the trout living in the depths. Thanks so much for tuning into another trout how-to and if you want more... SUBSCRIBE!

    Stocker trout love those kastmaster spoons I like the really small ones in silver,gold,blue/silver. I'v also had good times trolling them really slow from a boat, sometimes running them behind a small dodger helps to.

    Spoons have always been my confidence lure for trout fishing. Thomas, Little Cleo, Kastmaster and Blue Fox. I'm glad to know I'm not the only guy who ties directly to my braid 🤙

    • @AlaskaPirates
      @AlaskaPirates 4 роки тому +2

      TroutHammer right, it really matters with or without the swivel, but I find no difference w/ direct to braid, as long as it’s the right weight. It gets kind of annoying here in Alaska, I’ll always have 15-20 pound braid on my spinning reel, for salmon. I use the same rod for everything, so I add a lighter leader, just depends on what I have in the box at the time, and bam, trout. But 10lb would be best for trout.... I just can’t bring myself to go that light because it’s a meat stick.

    So i been fishin up at the lake. Lotta crappie but its hard to target the bigger ones. Perch too. I’ve been fascinated by spoons. I’ve had good luck with a jig w/ plastic minnow w/ a micro spoon attached. But the kastmaster style spoon, i’ve never used. But the small ones blue fox makes are so cool. I’m gonna try em.

    I use 7'1 Svartzonker Black Edition, 5-20gram RoD, Okuma 20(2k) Reel, 0.10red braid, and got 2 set of 9gram spoons (shiny and nonshiny) from Kinetic. Its not super expensive but i chose what i like and it works good and casts long. Overallcost about 130eu / usd.

    Nice to have a few colors and sizes - when its cloudy or rainy I have great luck with silver/blue - the distance you get from kastmasters pays off...Lures don't last long as the fish get educated fast - you catch 'em early - then hook on the outside of the mouth (swipes) and many get unhooked...then you don't even get a follow....color selection helps

      phoebe's and rough riders are also good - different actions - I upgrade my hooks to laser sharpened ones for better hooking power

    Need a monofilament or flourocarbon leader. A double uni knot or blood knot will work. Don't need to re tie when using a snap swivel. Presume you are throwing a 3/8 oz kastmaster. I recommend replacing the treble hook with a single Siwash hook. thanx
