Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns - Expansion Announcement Trailer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is the first expansion for Guild Wars 2. Founded on the idea that the journey is the goal, the Heart of Thorns expansion continues the Guild Wars 2 tradition of challenging the conventions of MMOs to fulfill the promise of what online worlds should be.

3 years later... running around the jungle on a mount :D
3 years later about to see end of dragons!
@@cxiller9238 Did this just get suggested to you too? lol
@@MattSSmith94 Yes yes it did
6 years later...flying around the jungle on a mount.
(And realizing that's the only way HoT zones are not exasperating and tiresome)
I quit the game right before this expansion and only came back after I heard about PoF mounts. I can't imagine trying to navigate those incredibly annoying HoT zones without mounts lol It's good to see ArenaNet has dropped this concept and we haven't seen irritating maze/platforming zones since HoT.
@@rkbkirin5975 HoT zones weren't hard to navigate when you had the masteries to do so. There were ways to everything you needed. The exploration was very enjoyable, you don't have that with mounts. Mounts are great, but it's, a different kind of enjoyment...
To anyone saying "No new map":
They are giving us new maps, the region 'Heart of Maguuma' will have multiple maps and 3 different biomes!
Maguuma Jungle is BIG
will be this a huge persistent world ? YES PLEASE
loulakion probably similar to the way maps are now where each "map" is persistent, but the largest maps they have are about as big as the engine will allow them to be eg, (dredge haunt cliffs, cursed shore, blood-tide coast, eternal battle grounds) also some of the smaller "raid like maps" like the newer ones released last year might be sprinkled throughout or have mechanics within the new zones
***** there were people saying that
People really need to learn how to read. The Heart of Thorns website ( heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en ) specifically says that there are new maps, new high level group content, a new class, new weapon specializations, new masteries for characters over level 80, guild halls, a new PvP game mode, a new borderland for WvW, and lots of other new stuff. Everything else shown in this trailer is brand new. None of the areas shown are in the game as it currently stands.
"No new maps" is just a ridiculous statement. Of course there will be new maps. Several new ones, and I wouldn't be surprised if additional maps get added for FREE after launch.
I get that haters need to hate something but good grief!
Jesus christ i'm never reading comments again. They are such buzz-killing shit comments ALWAYS.
You must be new to the internet
Look, man. YOU'RE excited. I'M excited. That's all that matters, here.
JoaquinNibali
***** Good that you gave gw2 another chance, it has to be played differently compared to WoW and then it can be alot of fun.
Excited :D can't wait for it :D !!!
This Expansion is still my favourite, the music, the map layout, the ambiance, it's all so well connected.
Path of Fire felt a bit lacking with these concepts, but it made up with the mounts I guess.
I do hope End of Dragons will deliver on the above mentioned.
*Throws money at the screen*
TheSoulRavager We can't grab that money yet, but thanks for sharing your excitement :) ~Stéphane
Still get shivers down my spine when I see this as a long time Guild Wars player from Prophecies to Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire!
Guild of Wars 2 is so far the most beautiful and immersive mmo i have ever seen.
Was kind of hoping we'd get to visit Cantha or Elona, not more of the jungle...
I miss those continents. The Canthan wilds were amazing (just image the jade sea with the updated graphics) and Elona's vibe felt great.
Slim chance of that happening but a Canthan expansion would make a lot of people very happy, myself included.
Cyberpunkkitten I disagree there is a slim chance. Keeping Canthan and Elona in the tool box gives them carrot to dangle further down the road. Besides, GW1 was free to play with no gem store. It was the expansions that generated new revenue. I see no reason they won't follow that strategy again.
***** false it had a "gem store" play again you'll see.
I've been expecting continental travel ever since Zhaitan was the whole reason nothing could come or go. I know they'll open it up eventually, so I'll be patient and sit back and wait.
Ya I wanted a Cantha expansion bad I'm pretty disappointed
Best MMO ever tried, great awesome game.
coming from the icebrood saga announcement, it hurts to see how good the HoT announcement was back then...
True, buuuuut. HoT itself is better then ever and that didn't go anywhere:) Up to this day i often visit the jungle because i love the xpac!
Cantha coming boy
One day and people are already complaining. At least give them a chance to reveal ALL of the aspects of the xpac.
Welcome to the internet...
Haters are scared, they don't want to stop paying their subscription fee and play a better game only for 10 dollars.
WhiteSector IF you played 16h a day for 2 years you need to get a job or a life, perhaps both.
Robert Thompson yeah,no wander he burnout all the content lol.For him,and people like him,Anet would need to work 24h per day just to create a content to suits them..
William Botsford This is UA-cam, when are people not complaining about something? Also, a lot of them are trolls, so don't feed them.
My almost-3-years-of-playing-GW2 has made my time worth. As a gamer of course.
Haha, take that for players who left or bored for GW2 because: "Oooh this is boring~! Guild Wars 2 is garbage~!".
I've been playing the Guild Wars games for over 7 years... my excitement gets pretty high when stuff like this happens :P
3 years of playing an hour a week.
You know people can just leave and come back when they want, right? After a certain point people grew dissatisfied with the content and can come back to the expansion, or choose not to - that's the beauty of the B2P model. I took a break after a year (hopping on for living story content, then back to other games), and may come back to this full swing once the expansion hits.
GW2 is terrible. GW1 was billions of times better. GW2 was like GW1 for dummies. Have to see if this will actually redeem the horrible sequel or not.
VeraceSzK You could have said your so-called "point" in the first three words, considering the rest of the comment, which should have been comprised of reasons rather than rehash, was completely redundant.
I don't know if it was answered in the stream or not, but we all have one big question: Price? Do we purchase it on top of GW2, or is it just rolled into it?
I've got no problem paying for it, cause this looks AWESOME
Please answer this!
It will be paid, and you have to have the base game too. There will be physical and digital editions. help.guildwars2.com/home - from the FAQ
you have to pay for it
I can't link on UA-cam, but a thread on the newly opened HoT forum has a community manager implying it is indeed a purchasable expansion. The vanilla GW2 will still be as it always been, but I assume the new areas, masteries and all that shown requires you to buy the expansion first.
It's possible that there will be a bundle offered if you want both core and expac.
So, um? Where do I throw my money? For some reason It doesn't work when I toss it at the screen, the cents just bounce back and hit me in the face ;_;
Djalmanac We're sorry that your money is being mean to you! ~Stéphane
Just rewatched the trailer and I must say that I like that scrapped version of Tarir better. Seems way more spacious and detailed. For me actual version is a bit...empty.
I don't play this game but I'm tempted with the current discount, what I'm really liking here is the sheer positive buzz going on, I was starting to think any new game would be shit on after last years run of hate everything AAA. Not even the indies escape the wrath of social media anger. So yeah, nice to see people actually looking forward to an add on and praising and recommending the main game.
I paid full price and never regret it.
at this price its basically highway robbery. there's no reason not to get gw2 at its current price. i've probably sunk 300+ hours into it, as a 'casual'. i don't care for the 'endgame' and i still love the hell out of gw2.
zafdragon hear hear. i'm in my late 20s with a job that required a professional degree, so i'm working 70-80 weeks usually. seeings how i can't raid anymore, i can't justify paying a sub fee. raided from vanilla wow to sunwell in BC, i actually grew sick of the gear treadmill back then. i love that pvp gear is equalized so it focuses on skill rather than gear, and i like that i can apply skins without changing stats.
GuerillahTacT1kz ........there is no sub fee for gw2. o.o
also we're talking about gw2, not WoW...
It's $10 and you will never need to pay a sub. I paid for the game at full price and i never had any regrets. For $10 you'll be crazy not to get it.
Omg the hype levels immeasurable.
huge jungle area? im in!
Time to show off your graphics guild wars, love green maps in video games (uncharted!)
Really excited to get back into the game, expansions always invigorate me to do so.
Can we hope for the charr's walking animation cycle to be replaced with Rytlock's? His walking animation looks a lot more intimidating and radiates of the sense of might and pride that the charr's culture reflects in both their organisation and their discipline.
isn't it just the normal charr walking animation? Walking, not running
why are people complaining about a new race do you even know how hard it is too put a new race in with the story and stuff and that is only a small piece of it (i hope they will do it tho) but im allready really happy that they put new professions in ;)
This trailer gives me the feels even 6 years later... Can't wait for eod !
YES, OMG. MORE STUFF FROM THE FIRST GAME. I'm literally crying. this makes me so happy (played the first game 5/7 years before GW2)
"man, this game was really cool but it got old fast. I doubt I'll ever come back to it"
"Ok I'm in"
I loved ranger with staff (druid!) and engineer with hammer (steam punk battlemage). Really, I think ANet made a great contribution on those two.
The mesmer is the girl at 1:27. My mind wants to shut that image out but the shatter effect in purple at 1:27, the chaos / rainbow casting at 1:28 and the butterflies at 1:32 are unmistakable.
The shield does not fit the mesmer lore, at all. Besides, having too may professions able to run shield (warrior, guardian, engineer, potentially the revenant) makes this redundant.
If the battlemage profession is in there, the revenant, why stealing its thunder with the mesmer? Besides, with hammer engineer and elementalist we already have tons of battlemages. I would rather prefer dual pistols for the mesmer with tons of ranged, shiny, purple effects and inters: more caster, more main hand, less melee.
Cause if you spealize its not a mesmer anymore its something else. Like chronomancer. Well to some extent. With new skills/traits sepperate from what the mesmer was.
Mesmers have always been able to bend magic and manipulate the fabric of reality. Time itself is just one step further. They use weapons differently than other professions, like its long-range greatsword. Who knows how they'll use a shield?
Mesmers with shields fit into the game as well as a ranger with a longbow.
If you played gw1 you'd remember that every weapon was open to all classes. In pvp you would frequently see most casters using shields with whatever weapon met their needs ( like +15 -1 mods)
One of my main gripes about gw2 was skills being locked behind weapon sets =p
Always ran mesmer with shield in GW1 PvP. Now we just need a spear for out of water combat.
We might still get dual pistols for mesmer, for all we know the classes might have multiple specialization options.
And now to make a comment on how the professions are in a nutshell:
Guardian: The one that doesn't know how to die
warrior: the one completely made in tribute to Garen from League of Legends
Revenant: the one nobody likes yet everyone plays
Elementalist: the one that avatar: the last air ended fans play as
Engineer: for players who like to be stationary
Ranger: the most diverse weapon set, yet everyone uses longbow and great sword
Necromancer: the one you fear in a dark alley
Thief: the one you should fear in a dark alley
Mesmer: the clusterfucker
this is a great explanation of the professions.
We've come so far, and the quality has not fallen after all this time.
Who is here after End of Dragons announcement?
So watching the trailer over and over again. i noticed the following classes with the following weapons:
Thief - Rifle
Engineers - War hammer
Rangers - Staff -Druid
Mesmer - shield
Necromancer - Greatsword
HAMMER ENGINEER! I'm gonna blow everything up!. Gosh i'm overly-hyped
New profession is called the, "Revenant". Heavy armored "caster" archetype i guess - very sweet indeed.
Can u play online?
TheDragon Slayer Yes, Guild Wars 2 is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game so it requires an Internet connection as you're always connected to the servers :) ~Stéphane
+TheDragon Slayer This was so funny i didn't even laugh.
+Daniel Delgado haha
Wow finally they manage to put guild halls in guild wars. MMOs are a social platform more than anything for longtime players this is essential and might get me back playing this in theory very awsome game
i am crying.....
It's here! It's finally here!!! Thank you so much for making this! From what I can tell this expansion will have a lot to offer, and it looks absolutely incredible.
hell yea! Haters gonna hate!
And i'm just gonna enjoy this!
Some people act like this is all of it.. I'm certain they will announce more. I'd love a new race to go with the profession too!
Revenant summons.... Prince Rurik... and lose badly... xD
Holy hell. It's about time... this looks so dang good.
New class, items, bosses, pvp content, balancing existing characters, new cities and dungeons, explorable areas and a slew of other content. A fair $50 price tag and as an incentive to try it out, the base game became free. Friggin Bungie, that is how you make DLC. I miss when true expansions were the only DLC.
That killing spree type ability that Rytlock did was awesome. Given that he did it, it's probably a Revenant ability and not a Thief ability, though :(
Nice. No new race though?
doesn't look like it
Next expansion most likely.
Mats Tijmes So what, another two+ year wait? That's a pretty disheartening thought.
They don't really add anything to the end game compared to the huge amount of work that they cost to build. I don't think they'll ever add another race.
If playing one race over another gave you advantages (and disadvantages) then a new race would be great. The only thing a new race really brings is a different Personal Story. When the smallest Asuran Warrior hits as hard as the biggest Norn Warrior, then the only thing to decide is whether or not to be a warrior. Asura or Norn are just window dressing. Be easier for them to just add new armors and make over options to the existing races.
Coming back to GW2 it seems like a good time to return and rush to catch up to this.
the good ol' times, when Arenanet produced quality content. Rest well, GW2.
yep
no, eod is life
@@kiurizenfulyour first expac?
@@georg7405 EoD is leagues over HoT and PoF, no idea what you're talking about
@@pecros I disagree with you
woop woop so happy there is still activity here :D
Well now time to take thing serious again
sPvP is not GvG, but it will be close.
I think that this is a way to keep Guild Members on the same team as opposed to the current mechanic which is hit or miss on what team you play on.
The only way I can see a guild keeping together in non-PvE right now is to party up before entering either PvP or WvW and hope the team doesn't "break" in the map transfer.
The Hype Dragon has awoken.
FINALLY GUYS ! i always hated Anet updates but this one sounds HUGE , hope there will be a /duel system !!! :DD
Just started playing, the one thing I don't like about GW2 is how the present the talking story parts. Just you and the person talking with a concept art backdrop, kind of uninteresting. But maybe i am too used to CGI stories now a days. Ill finish the game no matter what, but ill know when i'm around level 60 if ill enjoy it or not.
Wait, was a necromancer using a sword and shield!?
Richard T the talking story parts will change when you start the living world story ! it changed also for the expansion
oh, okay. Thanks.
Richard T also that was a mesmer using a sword and shield.
Rosellá Oh, okay.
at first I was like eh....until Rytlock opened the door to that beautiful looking world. Now I'm excited and can't wait to play this again xD
18 WoW players disliked this lol
Was really hoping to see the Tengu as a playable new race. Can you imagine the coolness of a Tengu Revenant?
Maybe next expansion...
But, really, though? Your new system for class development is... Mastery?
no, class development is the specialization thing. some MMOs have "elite" versions of professions (like a warrior becoming a knight), usually with more than one option that drastically changes gameplay. it seems GW2 is heading this way.
mastery, as per the stream, seems to be an account leveling thing, only instead of giving stats like, for example, the paragon levels in diablo 3, it gives you access to new mechanics (like the hang gliders we see in the trailer).
better then gear or level farming
And there is specializations. Like, a ranger becoming a druid. After that he can use staffs, gets new healing, utility, elite skills and his class mechanism (pet) changes somehow to something else.
Or that doesn't counts for you?
***** Yes its super fun to waste hours and days, even weeks of your life to find some gear that you will replace just few months later. It might be good deal for no lifers but not to people with limited time for playing.
***** exactly.Thats why we play GW2 and not other MMO's.Cause here we DONT grind for gear.
That Asura animation at 2:33 though... Still the master race!
GW2 killed Guild Wars
Anyone saw that effect of the fiery sword, sheathed had no flames and un-sheathed it light up!!! home this actually applies to the HoM and jormag's breath !! I love those swords and with this it will make a GW like light saber!!
Looks like they have hang gliders from Aion. Mastery and mastery trainers from Maple Story. Emerald city from World of Warcraft. Finally, Dimensions from Rift. I like all those aspects of those games and I'm glad that they are adding them to GW2 :). Can't wait to own people in Domination style PVP from Call of Duty as well.
I'm just glad they were going somewhere with Rytlocke disappearing into the mists. Didn't expect it to be a justification of a new class.
Ah, so he did go into the mists? Revenants draw energy from the mists, meaning that he's definitely back as a Revenant.
blackomega34
Yes, he is the very first Revenant...
New class is Ritualist. You can tell by the blue spirit summoning.
Get ready, SS builds.
Revenant.
Nah man. Totally Ritualist. I don't care what they call it. Not fooling me =D
Revenant, says so in the heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en page
Yeah, I'm 100% aware of that. lol.
It's basically the Ritualist. I heard it's both Paragon and Ritualist rolled into a single class.
I want me some capes from Guild Wars 1 I can go all nostalgic over, that would make me very happy.
New compositors at ArenaNet did a fuckin great job with the music. I am not afraid to say that it is on par with Jeremy Soule or in some parts even better!
I came back to this game about two months ago after taking a year off. The reason for the year off is no one would talk or help or answer questions besides about the zerg train to kill champions and it got old . They have revamped it so much it now has a feel of community which it did not before. The areas are beautiful and the world is always busy. I really hope the new expansion does not kill the older zones for more than a month or so with the traffic going to the new zones. Great game :) Just waiting for my Cheetahs for rangers and greatswords or bows for elementalists lol
So I have played Wow in the past and Rift, but I just bought GW2 and am happy to see what it has to offer. I have high hopes after watching this. Its installing right now and I can hardly wait.
Thank you very much, Anet!! So exited!
The narrator sounds like Lyis Titanborn from the Elder Scrolls Online, a lot!
Loved Maguuma jungle in GW1. Looks like they have added on way more awesome to it. Excited!
Ugh... I'm getting the shivers just watching this trailer. I'm so excited for this expansion. Can't wait!
Oh boy i haven't played since the first Halloween Event i think my time to hop back in is nearing these landscapes look so nice !
This looks like it has an enormous amount of effort put into it 0_0 HOLY FUCKING HYPE also, at 1:37 is that a fucking spear or a stave because it honestly looks like a spear.
Tarir looks completly different back then, but still looks gorgeous! Also Itzel's villages are slighlty different however It's just a details :D
This gives me so much gw1 nostalgia.
I'm not crazy am I? Those were Mursaat? and daaaaamn this is what I've been waiting for! More Guild Wars-esque features, like specializations and guild halls and more classes.. Damn it I'm excited for this
This actually looks pretty badass. I think I'll start playing again, it has been a while.
Still gives me shivers..
We need a release date, you guys! So excited! =)
Looking forward to this expansion!
The impressive part is that I believe they did all of this in-engine, with maybe the exception of the very first scene or two.
HO HO HOLY CRAAAP. I want this! It is so good to watch the game evolve since the betas! I know lots of people are throwing poop at them, but I personally think the guys at Anet just did something really great.
I am so happy right now! This game deserved an expsansion much earlier.... but now its comming true!!! :)
OMGGG I'm so excited!! XD
I love Anet for their approach to game-development. I have been gaming since the late 80's, and I have only ever felt that two game companies actually wanted me to have fun. Nintendo, and Anet.
Lol I'd choose the two exact same companies too
OMG this looks epic. I was hoping for some major content update. Hopefully this brings me back to GW2.
Holy shit, my heart is bumping out, going back indeed!!! For tyria!!!
I really want to get back into playing GW2 but the only problem I had with it was I had no idea what I had to do at endgame, I pretty much gave up once I maxed leveled.
Omg heck yeah..I'm coming back for this
I cannot wait to start adventuring in the jungle! :D
if you look at 0:56 you can see there are 10 player character following rytlock, expanded party size maybe Hmmmmm maybe even something like a raid instance xD
finally they're adding content to this game that's guild focused. for awhile i just called this game "Wars"
Wait was the center of the City of Tarir once underwater? 0:51
I am so happy I bought this game. I was never a fan of MMORPG, never played anything longer than month. Then I got GW2. And I knew this is the game I am going to enjoy. Here I am, sitting and crying. Thanks anet.
Rytlock's badass level is over 9000!!!
Just back here in 2024 to remind something to myself...
-falls on the ground- so beautiful @w@
Well about time - I and yay for guild halls \o/
the one thing i do not favor in gw2's dungeon mechanics is how reliant it is on "stacking to do more" no matter what prof. melee or range, you're asked to stack to be doing more dmg.
it's not just "more damage" it's easy to rez people who are downed, easier to AoE all the enemies and easier to AoE and buff allies, the main problem with it is no "get out of the fire" to stop people from stacking
yes yes i am aware of the points u made as well, but my point was its just so boring that every dungeon is about stacking stacking and stacking. it lacks variation and mechanics
I will probably get into this again
Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my
Awmagurd!!!!! So grickin excited now, best news I've had all day!
I'm excited for this mostly for the new skills and weapons for each class, i hope that they balance it properly this time.
1:46 “HAMMER DOWN!!”
2:01 reminds me of flicker strike in PoE :o
