A lot of people comparing this trailer to trailers like WOW either don't know or don't realize it, but this trailer is pretty much what the game looks like. ArenaNet doesn't go over the top with CGI graphics to show you the game. They actually portray the villains and protagonists correctly. That means this is actually what Rytlock, and the monsters in the game looks like. I mean yeah WOW has really good CGI but if they used their real game graphics to make a trailer, I can assure you it'd be terrible.
+Eddie Mo This is not how GW2 looks at all in game. Also every WoW expansion has had an trailer using in game graphics, the actually CGI cinematic then follows a few months later. The current trailer for Legion for example is using slightly upgraded in game graphics, the CGI trailer will be released at BlizzCon. And imo they are not terrible. But thanks for your opinion, and thanks for once again comparing GW2 to WoW, apples and oranges imo.
+James Balmer I'm really surprised that you think GW2 doesn't look like this when it clearly does. Sure, the angles and skill poses are different, but the character design, environment, and pretty much everything here is very very similar as in the game. I'm willing to bet that Mordremoth looks exactly like he does in this scene. One thing I didn't know is about the in-game graphics trailer for WOW. Thanks for letting me know. I always loved the way the cinematic trailers looked for WOW and I always thought they were epic. I just checked out all the non cinematic launch trailers and I must say, they hold no candle to the cinematic trailers. Not very good at all in my opinion. My point was not trying to compare them. My point was that GW2 trailers do something completely different than WOW cinematic trailers and that Just because WOW had better trailers (Cinematic) that didn't mean that this trailer was terrible. Personally, I like the WOW cinematic trailers better, but I still thought this trailer was excellent, unlike a lot of people who came in to say WOW had better trailers. And ultimately, I stand by what I said about WOW trailers are not very impressive when it was using its in game graphics to make a trailer, but that's just my two cents.
+Eddie Mo you have a point about the consistency of style and such. GW2 has some impressive looking world bosses not so far off from mordremoth in this trailer. definitely a lot closer than, say, WoW and its cinematic trailers
+MithranArkanere It's actually true, Elder Dragons are part of the nature, if they all die, then something will happen, because Elder Dragons are rotating (or maybe they are eternal and Zhaitan will come back?).
***** Either that or there's a seal that keep something imprisonned (my guess is an army of Giganticus Lupicus), and after all Elder Dragons will be defeated it will be broken.
Remember the vision. Remember the orbs that appear after going through the symbol of the the Pale Tree. Each orb is the power of a dragon. The green one was Zaitan's. The large on in the middle is the Soul of Tyria. The green power rushed and merged with the center orb. What will happen when all 6 orbs merge with the large one? What will awaken then?
+MithranArkanere that could be some GW3 shit right there. I don't they could expand GW2 enough to cover that. But who knows. I think games want to get to where all they do is expand rather than come out with new games.
I honestly love the detail GW2 puts into their game. The fact that there was special dialogue and such if you played a Sylvari for HoT really captured my attention. Remember when Traehearne cleansed orr with his sword: Cadalbolg? he got it from the Pale Tree, and as some of you may know if you have done Living World Season 2, you would know that the Sylvaris are Mordremoth's Minions. what if Orr was never cleansed, but corrupted by mordremoth. and Zhaitan's body still lies in orr. what if Mordremoth corrupts Zhaitan's body and takes control over it?

The style is fine, the sound/music is great. Though there is something lacking. It feels... not "big" enough, not "epic" enough. Its not a danger to all beings on tyria, instead Mordremoth feels like a boss rytlock has to beat after overcoming a minion and a mini boss. The trailer at the end of season 2 (the one where caithe does the monologue at the start) captured what i wanted for this trailer in my honest oppinion. It had a sense of magnitude... and impact. On friendships, on the battlefield, on society. And a intriguing "unknown". That said, keep it up ArenaNet! It was a good start!
Brimstar I'm not talking about effects! Don't get me wrong. It's not about how flashy the cinematic is, it has something to do with the decision *what* to show! For the feeling of grandieur, in my humble oppinion, you have to show the world. Like the scene of canach, who had to defend himself in a krytan looking building. You don't need to show much, don't need to animate everything. Its about the *message*, that has to be conveyed.
Really awesome trailer. I was wondering if anybody thought it was possible that the dragon like entity at the end was not actually mordremoth but a new kind of towering vine spawn that he created seeing as: 1. It appeared almost instantly and when looking at rut lock was still kinda growing and changing. 2. It had the same purple energy flare that the first minion did which suggests its 'fueled' by dragon energy and other than that was purely vines. 3. It looked nothing like the more fleshed out, dragon creature with the fanged mouth that we saw at the end of season 1. Just a thought.
I'm not entirely sure this is Mordremoth, more like a strong minion or a copy of himself. His mouth doesn't match the mouth we saw after Scarlet's death. Theory: New world boss confirmed? :D
Damn all the ppl complaining o.o I love how everyone suddenly becomes an expert in video editing and directing. LOL The trailer was good. cool art style better than the ingame cutscenes. I wish the game had these kind of cutscenes instead of the boring ones that it currently has.
How the heck I'm just seeing this, what the frick THIS WAS AWESOME AND MY DUDE RYTLOCK! You guys need to spread these cinematic than just sticking it to you yt channel, I came here from a forum post..
+Psykosocial Guild Wars 2 is not the only game in the world. I could hunt achievements in other games. A MMORPG always has more value than any other genre, if it's done well. Skyrim? Skyrim with your friends is more fun (if its done well). Fary Cry 4? Far Cry MMORPG would be more fun (if it would be done well). Etc. Why is a MMORPG more fun? The social aspect. I want to LIVE in that world. So most of the aspects should be comparable to real LIFE as well... And unfortunately that's not the case in GW2. They made the game too casual. There are plenty of things to do in GW2, but the psychological reasons of why you should do it, are not there.
From the teaser trailer that concluded Season Two LS, I thought we, as the player-characters, were going to fight rebellious Sylvari, Canach was going to be prosecuted for conspiracy/suspicion, and Rytlock was going to lead a discriminatory campaign against Sylvari. I feel like not that I've played through HoT a good bit, all the potential conflict and varying story arcs have gone to waste. We didn't even get to experience the mass amount of Sylvari who've turned to Mordremoth. I get that the Mordrem Guard are exactly those, but it seems like it all just happened in a complete blink of an eye. One day, you're leading the Pact forces, the next day half of them are dead and half of them have turned Mordrem...
"revenant rytlock pls stack or we kick u" -said no one in this trailer

Your prayers have been answered. :)
@@ephemoth not to be dramatic or anything but *KNEEL BEFORE YOUR PROPHET, WORLD*
Best gw2 expansion for me
i want another expansion like HoT that beats my ass again
I AM GROOOT!
+Sheppo You made me chuckle a bit! Congratz to you sir!
+Sheppo He's Groot... Just deadlier!!!
Man groot looks pissed lol....
So, how many Firework cannon shots do you think it will take to kill this one?
+Aidan and Aurkanthis Gaming 2
+burstlight7 seems legit
I love how the logo is glowing now :D
Me too :D
I'm so excited for the legion cinematic and in game cinematic, this was also a great trailer
FOOKING AMAZING DRAGON DESIGN! FINALLY!
Cringeworthy dialogue
"Who dares stand against meee hohohoho"
At least the big thorny beastie looked pretty cool
Look how Rytlock fights and Destiny's Edge 2.0 does nothing, plz more of this in game. Thanks.
LOL
The trailer was good. cool art style better than the ingame cutscenes.
This wasn't just stuck here, it was the launch trailer, it was everywhere at launch.
@@Ossulstone I thought I watched all launch trailers?? This wasn't one
I AM GROOT!!!!!
i love how this trailer shares the artistic style of the game
When I look at the graphics, I'm like: "I wanna be in this world 24/7!" But when I start the game, there is just nothing interesting to do...
+FarryEntertainment Dungeons, world bosses, Fractals, pvp, achievement hunting, events????
+Psykosocial Guild Wars 2 is not the only game in the world. I could hunt achievements in other games. A MMORPG always has more value than any other genre, if it's done well. Skyrim? Skyrim with your friends is more fun (if its done well). Fary Cry 4? Far Cry MMORPG would be more fun (if it would be done well). Etc.
Why is a MMORPG more fun? The social aspect. I want to LIVE in that world. So most of the aspects should be comparable to real LIFE as well... And unfortunately that's not the case in GW2. They made the game too casual. There are plenty of things to do in GW2, but the psychological reasons of why you should do it, are not there.
whoa roleplayer alert
***** lmao
Did Rytlock just shoot a Kamehameha with an After Effect from the 80s?
Awesome trailer, great job Anet!
The trailer cut the part after the trailer where Rytlock stands still and presses 2 to win.
+Axl21 That's a warrior. Not a Revenant.
Only 600k views. This game needs much more attention. Its a hidden gem.
Even during cinematics Braham, Taimi and Kasmeer are useless :).
This is actually good in my opinion I fail to see why people are bitching
***** Try again with a good attitude
Rytlock is a boss. Damn!
Can't believe it's been 7 years woah
Now THAT is a trailer
new Rilock = Jedi
CONFIRMED: Mordremoth is Ultron
The best trailer and expansion ever of GW2, similar as Factions of GW1, this is the exception that second parts are much better.
I AM GROOT!!
+Bas Hendriks looking for this in the comments
um...I dont want say anything buuuuut....it would be awsome to have cutscenes like that ingame
Guild wars 2 really needs more african/egyptian elements, like in the first guild wars!
