This is a step by step guide video tutorial showing you how to replace your iPad Air 2 LCD Glass Digitizer Screen assembly.
I used the following tools:
1. Hairdryer or heat gun (to soften the
adhesive between digitizer and frame)
2. Sharp thin razor (to get under glass)
3. Small phillips screwdriver (to remove screws holding the lcd to frame and flex cable bracket.)
4. Open prying tool (to disconnect digitizer flex and lcd flex clables)
5. Double sided adhesive tape (to secure the new digitizer to the frame- comes pre-assembled.)
6. Clean cloth and alcohol to wipe the lcd clean.

After watching this, I've decided to just pay someone to fix my iPad for me.
Always check the home button before glueing the screen down lol
A customer of mine pointed me in the direction of this video because he blew the logic board using this method. As has been mentioned, disconnect the battery BEFORE you carry out work.
Awesomeness
if you replace your ipad like this def gonna damage home button or something else/ be more kind and use more heat to remove screen
I have also an ipad air 2 that needs to be replace due to cracked screen is there a chance that need only to replace the regular glass not the whole lcd screen?
BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!! He did not unplug the battery before unplugging and plugging back on the connectors, this can easily cause the backlight chip to blow, giving you no backlight and a black screen, this means you will have to replace the Chip which is really difficult
Abdul Baazab how do you know if the backlight is blown and if it is how do you fix it?
@@uzairomer2725 replace the backlight fuse
Uzair Omer you’ll know if the back light is blown if you can’t see you screen when it powers back on
Do you simply just remove the screw for the battery connector or is there more to it?
Yeah I noticed that too and was gonna post a comment then saw yours. I had that happen... Cost almost as much as buying a new one to fix it MYSELF.
When you put the screen back on you didn't transfer the black piece from the old screen for the camera. Is that part not needed? I have watched several videos and I never see them putting that part back on to the new screen. Please advise.
Hi mate where do you get the tools re i sesame are the guitar picks as well and the glue strips for the I pad cheers
Nice 👍
Which tools did you use?
can u use b7000?
First easy way start heat up frame with hair Drayer 👍
My Lcd is working fine and still good even though my screen is cracked is it okay if i only change the Glass?
DARK SKY PARADISE- They started glueing the glass to the LCD on the air 2 so unlike older iPads you have to,replace both together. Yes it is possible to do a glass only repair but it's very hard and you need special tools.
How difficult is this to do? Im just a mom who has three cracked iPads laying around that I would rather just repair than toss out. My little one spends a LOT of time in the hospital and isolated in the home.....so she blows brought the battery in the one she has (not cracked). It would be nice to have backups!
I used to replace the screens on my older kids iPhones until they made it so that u had to worry about cables and wires.....and I never needed a heat gun (which I don’t own).
Should I fork over the $120 per screen and take it to the shop at the mall or is it something I could accomplish?
I’m attempting the same repair. I’d say that if you’re confident enough to follow the steps in a video, then it wouldn’t hurt to try. Other comments on here are suggesting another tutorial though
PLUS I PUT ADHESIF ON LIGHT ANDOROXY SENSOR LOOOLLL
The people at the repair store told me somebody you might as well buy a new one lol
Well, at least I now know how NOT to do it.
do you put any adhesive when putting the new screen on?
Yes
How do you know if you have to replace the LCD screen too
@Rose Esparza...If the screen has any colored lines or black spots or weird patterns on it that typically indicates your LCD is damaged and needs replacement. Although on occasion a glass and digitizer replacement can correct mild distortions but if u have parts of screen pixilated and not viewable it's a bad LCD. All the glass screen digitizer does is allow touch to work with the LCD. The LCD is the source of imaging as with a TV. If it's bad no new cover will make it good again. Newer iPads especially from the Air forward often mandate replacement of both the LCD & Glass with digitizer.
Hope that helps and makes sense. I was rather detailed to avoid confusion as I learned all this the hard way ruining a glass screen and digitizer when I had to remove it and reinstall a new one over a new LCD... It's also what made me start repairing them for friends and family etc which I've now done at least 20 times so I do somewhat know what I'm saying. Again I just hope this helps. Best luck to you with it! 😊
If you have an Air 2, you need to replace both regardless because they are laminated together.
You missed to get the cover sensor and front camera black part from the old screen
Asd Man the camera is built in to the iPad you can clearly see that in parts of the video
DonutQaukes Jake no, he did miss the little plastic bezel that is adhered to the old screen. The new one doesn’t have it and it must be reused.
@@billymasoner3735 thats right . left from the homebutton you need to desolder it from the old screen. on youtube everything looks easy right?
Can you do anything with iCloud
iCloud locked is permanent for most consumer users that is the way it was designed. If you are the owner and forgot your password you can rest it yourself providing your iCloud info or take a trip to your local Apple store, after the pandemic, and they will happily charge a fee to reset everything. If you bought an eBay iCloud locked device, good luck as you are on your own not even Apple will help.
iCloud has nothing to do with the screen or LCD except to have the ability to interact with it on said device.
Cant understand why you played crazy music instead of talking us through what you were doing felt like I was viewing Music Video
i think u forgot to put sensor flex.
After watching your video and replace the whole screen. Now the ipad is not projecting image. What could I do ??
francisco breban first say to your self "hmm I should put on charge maybe battery died" if not working still try holding home and power button in unison. If still not working double check all connections a good few times. Also did you not unplug battery? If not check to see if it turns on but the screen is really dim. If on but dim then you blew a backlight. Common but f*ed, but go through the list I just put out before wondering if you really screwed it up. Also use different screen or if still intact and broken try plugging in old again see if it has a different reaction. This would be the best way to troubleshoot. And remember, if you feel like your doing something wrong. You probably are..
never watch this video is the best solution

I thought my phone fucked up at 3:18 😂
On god mate, n how u doing it’s been 3 years hope ur okay take care
Where do I purchase the adhesive tape? You should definitely seal the corners. What are the specs of the adhesive tape? Nicely done video but not sure it is 100% correct technically as a few people have noted. Here is where to get the tools: ua-cam.com/video/1HBpMYm0WWc/v-deo.html
How much is the screen?
This is definitely the easy way, but replacing just the glass gives a huge boost to profit margin. I was expecting to see you remove the glass, and then see if you used OCA or LOCA, and whether you used a laminator after and how you dealt with bubbles if using LOCA.
mmz12 and
And if you own a repair shop, you lose all of your profit in replacing the whole LCD assembly versus just replacing glass which is less than 20 bucks? Or you have to charge ridiculous prices to overcome the upfront parts cost? Do these satisfy your "and" comment? lol
@@mmz12 iPad Air 2 has both glass and LCD laminated as one piece, you have no choice to repair both
@@Podgorski37 I'm very aware of this. Which is why I was talking about the various adhesive methods, laminating it, etc. Of course this was 4 years ago so not as relevant today for an Air 2. But this would be like doing a 12.9" 3rd gen today which you not only have to consider a glass only repair but you have to take note that the serialised daughter board has to be moved. It depends on what you/your shop is capable of. If you can replace the glass and move the daughter board, you stand to profit more and have an edge on your local market in competitiveness. If your only choice is to buy a pre-laminated refurbished unit with the board moved for you, your part cost will be pretty extreme and you'll either have no profit margin or cost to customer will be astronomical.
how much was the screen ?
Noemy Aguilar cheapest i can find online is like 200 us dollars right now.
John Doe still cheaper than buying a brand new ipad
Noemy Aguilar hey I can fix your iPad for free xx

Need to know what the adhesive is called and where to get it. Once the lcd is removed what can I do to repair my camera and sound port?
