Thank so muuuuch, I was able to fix my daughter' Ipad!!! (she cracked the screen after only 2 months of buying it last year for xmas). I came across your video, you explained it so well and looked so easy that I went ahead and ordered a kit on Amazon for $25.50 and YAY!!! the Ipad works perfectly. Apple was charging me $200+, so I was able to save a lot, thanks!!! :-)......Usually people think that this kind of things (fixing electronics for example) are "a man thing", but I can reassure you, that it is not. :-)
@Tonberry lol nop I did not, but not sure why people get surprised when I mention I did this myself...Dont take it literally; its not how I think, is just things I have heard from other people.... 🙂nowadays we can do anything we put our minds to!!!! I know this for sure! 🙂
@MKUltra Survivor i can definitely see where mariel is coming from. I do electronic and car repair as well as car detailing as a personal hobby and money saver and my family has some traditional views on what a woman should be doing, so some people dont approve.
Thanks man, great video. Warning to those who start the grueling process of taking the old screen off - wear gloves like this guy. The small bits of glass cut. But anyway, this guys video is legit. I successfully changed the screen!
Thank you for this tutorial. The place near me was trying to charge $150 to fix the screen. Because of this video I was able to do it with a $25 screen on Amazon. Thank you again!!!!
Thank you!!! I ordered a repair kit and it came with no instructions, and I've never done it before but was able to do it successfully thanks to your video! Thanks again!!!
Thank you for this video. I followed your instructions step by step and I was able to achieve it. It was not an easy task because of the small screws and how delicate we have to be with everything. A good experience and now I recognize that the price that the technicians ask for replacing the screen is very fair.
Thank you !! My son broke his screen and I can got a kit for a new one found your video and I did it !! I’m so proud thank you you were very helpful ! Instead of paying someone lot of money to replace I did it and only bought the new screen ❤
Here is recommendation for You. First open the iPad with the metal tool only to get between the top glass and the frame. After just you plastic, this will prevent to cut something in mistake. Second You can put little bit alcohol between the frame and the top glass, this will help to open the glue area very easy, just go to all 4 side, but this definitely will improve your repair technic and everything will go much smooth than You think...
Thanks so much for this!!! I have been meaning to replace my iPad screen for a while and I realized I'm never going to go out and get it replaced so I figured why not do it myself for cheaper! I followed your guide and was able to successfully replace the screen! I did break the first replacement and had to buy another one, but 30 dollars more is better than hundreds! As you could probably tell, I am a bit heavy handed so I did also break the home button trying to get the rest of the glass from around it off, and I would love if you or anyone else could post advice for doing that if you see this, in case I ever do it again! Fingerprint recognition isn't too important for me on the iPad though so I'll settle for the replacement. Still, I feel so accomplished for successfully replacing the screen, thanks for teaching me and so many others how to do something so useful! 10/10, subscribed!
Really good and explained video. I have a question. Why is the replaced screen grey when turned off and the original screen is all black. And also it’s more like a mirror effect on the replaced one. Is this normal
Thank you for the informative video guide. I will be attempting this repair on my iPad but don't have some of the tools you used. Can you provide affiliate links to the screwdriver, clamps and b9000 glue you have?
Just followed these instructions to replace digitiser. I tried using superglue to adhere the button assembly to the new glass- don't do this. The old glue inhibited the cure of the superglue. I had to clean up and ended up using double sided tape. Definitely the way to go.
Very clear and helpful tips. I have replaced iphone screens before but my son just broke his ipad. we got the broken one off just fine. The tip about where the home button cable routes was especially useful!
@@crazycoolhunk Yeah we fixed it and it worked fine, but then a couple weeks later the new screen spontaneously cracked because the metal ipad frame was still bent and stressed the glass.
So I just followed your video and changed out the screen but when I went to test it before the final placement, the screen keeps flashing the apple logo for a second and then going back again. Do you know what the issue could be?
I’ve done replacing few screens but they’re either ended up with dead spot somewhere. It’s safe just to get someone eles to do it. Nevermind I open it back up and reseat the cable and rearrange some stuff. Lesson Is don’t be afraid and patience f open it back up. If you paying someone eles then it’s like buying a new one
Great video! The little screws inside were too small for me to hold to get back in place. I solved that by sticking the head to cellophane tape then positioning the screw over the hole. Pushing the screwdriver tip through the tape was easy. Also, if you mix up screws, the screw holding the battery connection down is longer than the screws holding the connector plate down. Took me a while to figure that out. Great job, Jose!
I was trying to get glass off around the home button after I'd removed all of the screen and the home button came off and is loose. Does this mean I have damaged it?
I just finished but I noticed that the Touch ID does work but pressing it to go home doesn’t work, I’m not sure what I did wrong. Is it not on strong enough or?
also thank you for the video, was able to go along with you till the cables bc i wasn’t sure if it was both cables to put down or just one (was both, had double sided tape on them) now it’s just my home button sadly
so I replaced my screen, I could not recover the touch id as the ribben got cut somehow. Now the ipad keeps having the zoom pop open and close as I am trying to set up the ipad, it doesn't let me touch anything very well. Did I do something wrong witth the install?
At the end of the process you used a different type of glue i believe what kind was it ? How long would you say it takes for glue to set up or safe to use ipad?
The b9000? I usually clamp it down with my repairs overnight it does dry fairly quick but for it to actually set I'd say overnight. Haven't had any problems with all my repairs by doing so.
what is the point of unplugging the battery to connect the digitizer? I've replaced several screens on 3rd and 4th gen ipads, and never did that, just made sure it was turned off. I haven't had any issues with them since then, just wondering what the reason is for that.
If you don't unplug the battery you could potentially short the motherboard, in the older models if you didn't unplug the battery you could fry the backlight circuit on the logic board, I'm not sure if it's still a risk with the newer ones but I wouldn't risk it. Personally I always unplug the battery before even removing any connector, it's a bit uncomfortable on this models, but I can work in peace.
My ipads screen just has some weird colors and lines + the touch barely works. How can i know if the problem is just the touchscreen or the LCD inside? I accidentally dropped it but the outside screen is fine without any scratch. So which screen must i replace?
Thank you screen is replaced and working but the home button isnt working! I unscrewed and reconnected the cable but still no success. The most important part is that I can still get into ipad but I’m gonna need to fix that next.
I’m currently in the middle of it,it was smooth sailing till gluing the home button part ,I think I messed it up 😩😩😩,looked super easy in this vid,but I struggled. Hoping it works out….
6:01 that friggin display cable literally sliced itself in half as I folded the display back. Says it will require microsoldering to replace? well, we'll see. I ordered what I think is the right cable, and I am a darned good solderer, micro included.
And there is why so many iPad screens I see repaired by other places lift, you didn't clean the frame. Sure it'll stay for a few weeks or months, but eventually that screen will lift and just be sitting on there, not adhered properly. Can you please mention what is the repair cost difference between a laminated display & non-laminated display of same size?

what can do damage is at the time of reconnecting the cables, sorry that happen i will let the people know

how long did you have the home button clamped for?

Is the screen laminated now
Will the data be lost? or does it just stay
no data lost
