This is my initial review since I just got the ipad and I'm hoping to update it when I've had it longer ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . I purchased one that was listed as "acceptable condition" and was a little worried about what it would look like. However, I am pleased with its condition. The back has some scuffs and a small dent near the logo. There are a few tiny marks at the bottom of the front of the ipad but the condition of the screen is perfect. There are no scratches or anything. I was able to set it up, use it, and it charges fine. I'm hoping it continues to work well for me. So far it was worth the purchase. Also shipping was fast. The item came one day earlier than expected
Odd comment, almost reads very bot like
glad you enjoy the ipad air 2
Even a year later, this was immensely helpful in replacing my Air 2 battery. GREAT JOB!
Glad it helped!
OK ! this is official..you do not need to disco the ribbon cable for the screen...while the screen is standing upright ..slip your thingys under the old battery and lift it all up...then slide a insulated piece of whatever in under the plate that was undone by removing the battery clip holddown screw and just ease the whole unit up a bit..the battery then slides out and since the separation tool is still under..then take battery away...now put new one into that slot and whole new battery is still standing up..screw down that cover that you took off...now that battery connector is locked down...take the tool out and place battery down into place with sticky parts ready to do their thing...now you may not have to even remove the screen cables cover as they may be not screwed into the case underneath like the battery one..just try it..its amazing...only minutes
Cheers
Excellent demonstration, thanks a lot! Just finished my repair. I tested it before gluing the screen back on and it ran fine! I did a couple other minor modifications that worked for me. My screen was cracked already so I put on two or three layers of thin packing tape first. It held it together and was easy to remove afterwards. And I used the oven at 170°F (82°C) for 10 minutes which worked for me since I didn't have the heating pad. And finally I used rubbing alcohol instead of isopropyl. It worked for those tougher spots to loosen. I just hope that was okay, but I'm not seeing any problems yet. Thanks again!
are you able to put Wi-Fi logic board into a cellular housing and still be able to slide the SIM tray back in? I'm upgrading my memory from 16GB WiFi +Cellular to 64GB WiFi only. I've never used the cellular so I don't mind not having it but I'm worried a huge hole where the SIM card tray would be.
Wifi only model does not have a sim tray slot
My screen became all black after the battery replacement, i can hear the sounds, but the screen don't come on. What can it be ? I'm do dumbed rn 😭
sadley that sounds either
lcd connection not clicked in properly
or
A Damaged Display :(
Thanks. Quick and easy to understand
Cheers, just be careful lifting that screen up and out, iv had alot of practise and make it look easy
Do I need specific model# battery or I can use generally the iPad air 2 battery?
yes you need the model for a ipad air 2
@@rickstechrepairs, thank you
Thanks! What was the very thin foil cutter/prying tool you were using? What can I use for this? Would getting the iPad on a radiator also work in softening the glue? Ta.
i don’t even think u need to disco the screen if you watch what your doin plus a new tool that mite look like a crowbar .. made by bending the end of a small flat head screwdriver..no pryin troubles like u did…hey get your hair out of the vid…thanks for the simple job… but what did you pull out and put back in..where the battery connector is at…i see nothing like that on my air 2..
reading below..i see one mentioned sim card…if that comes out and in..right on the outside of where that bat connector is at..then i know what it is….i only have wi fi models and my air 2 takes A1566 bat..looks the same to me

My ipad air 2 is not turning on. Battery already lasted more than 6 years. How to ensure, if it is due to dead battery or defective charging port?
My screen probably broke now.
There is a high risk of that
Hi, can someone know if the ipad 6 battery is compatible with the Ipad air 2?
Am I the only one cringing at your bare hands holding a sharp, jagged piece of metal?
Use it day in and day out :)
@@rickstechrepairs By the way-
Used your vid to help with my battery change.
Very Helpful! Thank you!
Yes
I tried this yesterday and unfortunately I failed. I ended up breaking my iPad Air 2. Touch functionality is now dead. I must have damaged it at some point during the opening process by wedging the tool in too deep or during cleaning the adhesive tape and dissolving the glue residue from around the perimeter of the screen with cotton swabs and alcohol + WD40. Unfortunately I didn't check if the iPad was working at different stages of the process to know at which stage it broke. I used a heat gun around the perimeter and opening it was fairly straightforward. The adhesive tape and the glue that the tape leaves behind once you peel it off is quite stubborn to remove though. Some people just leave the glue residue behind when re-sealing but I think the fit is better if you remove everything and apply a clean new double-sided strips or B-7000 glue. But, like I said, cleaning it off is very hard and by dissolving it with alcohol or other chemicals and scraping around the edges, you risk damaging the screen. This may be what I did. Anyway, my operation failed and I won't be attempting this again. Not worth it. I turned my perfectly good iPad Air 2, albeit with a worn battery, into a paper weight.
u coulda tried by not removing screen..i see no reason to remove it..one can work around it however..hey ! time for the new model..urs must be 5 yrs old..time to get the new super fast 9th,10th gen..i have both..and will replace the bat with my plans.
Need to use isopropyl not simply alcohol, it has too much water so you shorten something
Actually it is much better to not use any liquid at all. Even ipa can go between digitiser and matrix or backlight and damage it. Also separator is much better than heating gun, because it warms up display evenly
0:26 How do you know it's running at 73% battery life if iPad Air 2 doesn't report battery health percentage number at all ??
Connect it up to a program called 3utools on the Windows, it will tell you battery stats
Thank you soooo very much for taking the time to produce and post this video! I've listen to everything on UA-cam in order to change the battery without breaking something. What I got from your video that I didn't get from the others was 1. if damaged the battery could potentially blow up and 2. although I didn't have a paint scraper as you suggested I did have a very thin egg spatula flipper. Your instructons along with the camera work were spot on, thanks again 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Is it more risky to replace the battery in an air 2 than any other ipad?
Not overly, but you get the screen removal wrong and bam you need a new lcd and touch panel
cheers mate, really clear. i guess you could turn it on before re-sticking the screen just to test if you're good to go
cheers, and yes you could
I did exactly the same, and now it don't charge after i chage the battery.
Just replaced my first ipad battery with the help of this video. Super simple, did it in under 20 minutes. Thank you!
well done, the biggest challenge is safely getting the screen out
@@rickstechrepairs Ya, well it didn't crack, but I now have a problem with the screen going grey, not sure why. Gonna have to figure out if it's the connectors or what
Good info to have in terms of where the connectors are and such, but I'm curious as to what it is that you think you're accomplishing with the IPA? I can see it helping to prevent the cutting blade from sticking as you continue to cut, but there simply wasn't enough of it used (or allowed to soak for long enough) to have actually helped with the adhesive under the battery.
with the amount I put under there
the plastic spatula gets coated in IPA and when i push it the ipa goes into the glue and releases the battery quiet easily
The most it's doing is helping to keep adhesive from sticking to the tools. I've used it to break adhesive down and remove it from non-porous surfaces (the easiest to remove it from) and it does a poor and slow job.
