Hi Paul, have tried a tarp occasionally, must admit I tend to only use my bivvy bag when I know it is not going to rain especially if cooking outside etc. I tend not to use a tarp because when I look at all the gear, poles etc I might as well take a lightweight tent.I use the bivvy bag when dry forecast and sleep with to unzipped, like you say gets a bit damp if closed in. Plus the idea is to be as low profile and inconspicuous as possible. This was one of the first of Pat Dickenson's videos that I watched. It was very worthwhile to re-watch this production, due to the concentration of information contained. In fact, rather than pacing back and forth waiting for Pat's upcoming masterpiece, I have been watching many of Pat's adventures again. Now that I know the outcome of the storyline, so to speak, I can focus on the information and details that Pat has selected to present. I realize that among his skillset are focus, splendid editing and willingness to make the required effort. The world simply does not have enough of this, these days. In this video I had a good laugh over the pub commentary, beginning around the 2:45 minute mark, and the description of the state one may achieve for twenty Quid in a good Chesterfield pub. Marvelous, Pat.
Thanks I really appreciate comments like this makes making the vidio all worth while. I love researching the history of my great city and then actually making a vidio out of it, thanks Pat
@4:00 "You can get very merry for a tenner and you can get absolutely legless for 20 quid". I knew a girl like that once. I absolutely love your content, mate! Please don't ever stop.
I used to live at the top of that lane above Homebase. Many moons ago. Fond memories of Sheffield. Moved there as a student and ended up staying 10 years. Good to see it again. Stumbled across your channel. Glad I did. Subscribed 👍
Hi and thanks for sub, mainly wild camping but go off on a tangent a throw different stuff in. Great view from up there spent ages try to identify different buildings streets etc. Thanks for comments all thye best Pat
Hi i,am about same distance so not far to walk, alot of uphill as you can expect in Sheffield but at least you get a view. thanks for comments and watching Pat
Thoroughly enjoyed this film Pat as I have the rest of your videos. I am genuine when I say that you are an inspiration! The effort you go to in making your films is tremendous. I’ve always been an outdoors persons after a scouting start but have ended a little soft in that we moved from camping to caravaning. Well, that was until I stumbled across you! I’ve ordered a small back packing tent and starting to put my kit together for some wild camping. Please keep doing what you’re doing! You’re s star!
Bram Booth Hi Bram like you my love of the outdoors started early then continued with joining the scouts, had some fantastic camps as a teenager. Hope you get out camping soon I ,m sure you will enjoy it, all the best Pat
Brilliant vid , thanks , in the 70,s me and my brother visited Tinsley T M D great day out , got a bus out to what seemed the middle of nowhere , and a few pints in a pub called The Raven , happy days , love your adventures
Wow I remember the Raven from the 1970,s if it's the same one near West Street became Hornblower made out like a ship then Irish bar the demolished now, happy days, Pat
Great video thanks Pat! I especially liked the fish and chips in the cemetery, priceless! The beer stops and commentary were excellent too. Good thing that tree was growing through that fence. Cheers!
Hi I suppose we are always learning new thing especially with new items of kit and also looking at each others You Tube videos, part of the fun, thanks for watching Pat
Great video Pat, brilliant camera work and editing, oh my, didn't half want a pint when I seen you Suping the first pint and then the cod and chips , about finished me , true, could smell.em and the beer , 😂🤣, really good idea for camping , do like your style of humoure , thanks Pat forward some great , excellent entertainment 👍
Only just started at looking at wild camp videos. I'm 67 now and did my first wild camp when I was 15 " 1965 " Went to Bridge Of Orchy, and wild camped by Loch Tulla. Cloth tent with tie front door, no sewn in ground sheet in those days, primus pump stove and being a Londoner never heard of the dreaded midge. Happy days, love your videos Patrick.
malcolm winter hi Malcolm, yes and I bet you remember that camp like it was yesterday, those pump up primus stoves were great as well, an art to get one going with a roar, happy days, Pat
Interesting video, brought back many memories. As a teenager I hitchhiked every where Yorkshire,Derbyshire ,Wales, Scotland, Lakes including Ireland. Two of us.Our overnights on all our trips in towns and villages was always their local graveyards.Generally good grass.Generally a water tap always a quiet night. Great days and nights. Enjoy your trips on the moors too. Waldo.
Hi Waldo sound like you had a great time pity there was no UA-cam then. Great to remember what you did when you were younger I,am still trying to carry on doing it now, thanks for watching and comments Pat
Patrick.Just penned a long reply and lost it. Here we go again. It seems our train runs on the same track. Just looked at your 1000 Subs vid 2016. Itoo was an apprentice elec. eng. EMEB 45yrs. now retired. I lectured many times at YEB Offices also Ashover if you remember that in Derbyshire. I still get out regularly .Viking Way this year. Dalesway2016, Coast to Coast Eng. . I completed 14 TGOChallenges the last one when I was 73 yrs.old I am 89 yrs. next .We shall have to chat some time. Spent all my early years in the Peak. Best Wishes Thanks for your prompt reply. Waldo
Just got home from work and found this video. Very enjoyable way to relax and have a snack. Great idea for a wild camp and well photographed too. Thanks for sharing.
Hi yes thought of doing urban camp for a while it was just a matter of finding a location, looked at several until I found this one, I think I will be back on the moors next time, all the best Pat
I used to play in that quarry when I was a kid in the early 60's there was a very small pond down the bottom we used to frequent 'fishing' for sticklebacks and frogs with nets on a length of cane and a jar...…didn't need apps and smart phones in those days...
Yeah did the same myself in the ponds on the Porter valley great times and I,am sure we learnt a lot in those early adventurous days, great to hear from someone local to the area, thanks Pat
I still love watching your short very entertaining videos love your wild camps. I do the Ridgeway about every 2 years it’s about 87 miles but I do about 120 miles I wild camp along the way mostly woods, I used first few time a Jack Wolfskin stargazer tent lovely little solo tent but now I’ve gone for a lighter more expensive Hilleberg Enan lovely tent comes in at 1.1kg weight. Thank you for the enjoyment you bring. By the way yes I could smell those Fish n chips 🤤all best GARY
Michael Sargeant Hi Michael thanks for that, different sort of wild camp, have a new idea for wild camping coming up in a couple of weeks, certainly will be different, thanks Pat
I love that LED lighting reduces light pollution, that’s wonderful. I am new to your Chanel, grew up in Devon but moved to Canada in 1999 and now live in Austria so it’s lovely to see the U.K. countryside. Thanks Pat.
ianmedium Hi Ian and nice to hear from you. Certainly moved about a bit, I,be never left Sheffield where I was born. The glow from the old sodium lights made Sheffield look like it was on fire, like the blitz in 1940 I would imagine,it did suprise me how little light is now visible, thanks Pat
Beltin' video Pat. You're a proper authentic character. Found your videos yesterday and now I can't stop watching them. :) They're both interesting and entertaining.
Hi Kieran, great spot this, often drive past and look up there. Have thoughts of a similar camp to this so enjoyable. Hope to keep you entertained through. 2019 Pat
Haha brilliant, camping above homebase ! Just goes to show you can have an adventure anywhere. I lived on Valley Rd and my local was the White Lion, 20 years ago before I emigrated to New Zealand. A trip down memory lane. Good work.👍
Hi Matt yes was a great location to camp, a little bit different. White Lion will not have changed, not as busy only seems to open after $-00pm and that was before lockdown. I understand it has not re-opened yet, like a lot of other pubs in last couple of weeks due to easing of lockdown, enjoy New Zealand, all the best Pat
Great economic case you made for Britain's choice to industrialize early . Your comparison of urban foraging to rural foraging . Very nice video and entertaining .
I'm living in a beautiful place called, North cave in East Yorkshire. My house over looks the Yorkshire wolds. There are many great rural areas to see. With streams running through our area. I'm a life long blade, and my favourite brew is a farmer's on draught. When I go to see Sheffield United we call into a cafe and grab a brekky and a pint. Best cure for pre match nerves. Love been in Sheffield visiting family and friends. You should do a camp out near our area. I'll keep you fed and watered in our local. Loving all the videos you post. Great to see.
@@patrickdickinson6492 yes, it's grand. Well worth an explore. We have the old hull to Barnsley railway here abandoned. It runs parallel with the M62 the old brickyard was filled in and is now thee motorway pond in a village called Newport. Well worth a look and a tour to put on your UA-cam channel. Also beautiful guest ales in the kings arms pub. I'd wait till the coronavirus has blown over and check it out 🙂
Philip Tipper Hi Phil, when I finished work I said I was going to cram in as much as I could, none of us know how long we are here for, so doing as much as I can, but time passes so quick. Thanks for kind comments, all the best, Pat
I'm watching this from British Columbia, Canada and your cool, wet weather looks so very nice. Thanks for another video that makes me want to go out and explore every local nook and cranny.
Hi Paul we get a bit fed up with our cool wet weather, would not be so bad if we got a decent winter like you do with plenty of snow to make for some great winter camps, but just stays cool and wet for a lot of the time, thanks for watching Pat
Hi John once at the campsite and fastened to my safety line felt very secure, was concerned if anybody saw me and managed to stay hidden in long grass, little bit different but still a great camp, all the best Pat
Hi Pat great video :) I'm an old camper who started at about age twelve and kept at it as a journeyman rigger, scaffolder and crane operator, going all over Australia to construction and mining jobs for forty yrs, I never stayed in hotels or motels on the way to and from work and always camped out. One time I was sent to a power station in rural Queensland and since they never provided accommodation we were paid x$$ per day to find our own .. I found a spot along a similar fence line above a road embankment and slept there for nine nights, I had a shower in the Power Station before work every day .. it was one of the best times I ever had. The last trip was just on nine yrs ago I needed to go to Nimbin in New South Wales and camped out for two nights .. when I saw yr face and heard yr voice I wondered if we had ever met, I have never been to the UK so it would have had to have been in Australia .. cheers from Brisbane.
Hi Martin nice to hear from Brisbane, likewise I have never been to Australia, perhaps one day. You sound like you have had a interesting working life travelling all over and getting plenty of camping bivvying in at the same time. i can imagine you saved yourself a fortune in hotel fees as well, sounds a great life, thanks for sharing your adventures all the best Pat
Great, interesting camp. I was shocked you were going cliff-side of the fence! I am glad there was space for your bivvy bag and that you had a harness for good measure: getting up for a pee and forgetting where you where doesn't bear thinking about. Yes, on balance the possibilities for dark skies probably rules in favour of LEDs. Some lights are oh so smart and only come on when walking by or standing in the bus shelter. Saves some energy at least. Fantastic video as always Pat. Atb,Terry
Hi Terry, each time I call at Homebase I look up to where I camped, that was a great adventure, maybe again one day. A few years ago the lighting would of showed up alot more with the old sodium lights, a warmer glow to the city, but LEDs, certainly more efficient, thanks Pat
Well Patrick, I have now watched all your vids except the last two, from the start over the last week or so. My wife has a quote, "Daft as a box of frogs" and I must agree where your concerned, especially after the pub crawl, never laughed so much for a while. You seem to be haphazard but I know you plan these escapades and make them look as its just another jolly old walk. I would never do what seems so natural to you, I swore to my self, never to kip in a tent again when I left the army in 1972 and we did sleep in some very snowy cold places without modern sleeping bags etc. I have kept to that promise.:) I have never been to Sheffield and what impressed me from this vid, it looks like the houses are an after thought that take second precedence from trees. Absolutly brilliant and you don't see this from ground level. Whish we had fish and chip trees in my area, they are very rare. One thing we do have in common, is a love of real ale. Have you never considered doing the Wainright coast to coast walk and wild camping from start to finish? It would take some planning but what a series of youtube vlogs that would make. My very best regards, Brian the Wonderer.
Great location and stunning views. It looks to have been a very enjoyable expedition. I like the idea of the 'foraging' and the pub stops. It's so important to frequent pubs where they offer discount to Camra members and also to call in at pubs you don't normally have the chance to visit!
Danielle Britton Hi Danielle this camp was a little bit different and great fun, the beer was very nice and discounted as well. The Crown at Heeley is one of those pubs that are difficult to leave, thanks for comments Pat
You have a very creative mind, Pat. I like how you see the wonder in the world around you and capture it. I have watched this video a few times, brings me back to when I was a kid and would camp in strange places around my home town. Thanks for sharing. Keep going, friend!
Cloud Nectar thanks for the kind comments, always loved the outdoors and this felt a real adventure as the location meant I had to keep hidden. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
Below your camp location was an old brick quarry, where my Boss Walter used to have me burning PVC cable to weigh in for scrap copper. I was an apprentice spark. This was in the mid to late nineteen sixties. Nice documentary Pat-take care on your adventures.
Hi Alfred yes I had read about the brickworks, although I never saw it. Always nice to hear local stories like this, I was born in 1955 so just a child when you were a apprentice, nice to talk to you, all the best Pat
Thanks Pat that was a refreshing change from the norm on UA-cam great I really enjoyed it I've tried Farmers Ales in Edale in peak District when I got the train back home I found a pint Glass dumped on Edale station it had the mill stone on it i still use it most days Atb Geoff .
Yeah Geoff its a nice glass they have, been meaning to do urban camp for a while but not easy finding that perfect location, hidden but with a view, thanks for comments all the best Pat
Patrick I'm slowly working my way through your films and your fastly approaching as one of my favourite UA-cam's,excellent work.Love your fish n chips supper while wild camping, that can't be beat along with the liquid refreshment on route haha.awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing!
DrTeno Guy hi Paul different camp not far from home, all helped to make a enjoyable wild camp, tree camping Portaledge progressing well should have final part of build on next few days, thanks Pat
Yes a wild camp with a difference that's says it all once settled on site felt more relaxed and turned out to be a great camp, although a little noisy with traffic , thanks for comments Pat
Really good film this one Patrick, I enjoyed that. Don't think even with the rope I could sleep that close to the edge! Some great pubs around Heeley as well!
Pubs around Heeley are great, Crown, white lion, Two Brothers all great pubs and nice beer. The campsite was very safe would be difficult to fall off but rope as a precaution at night and just in case any local yobs thought they would throw me off for a laugh, thanks for comments and watching Pat
Hi Hughesy, a little bit different although still a mini adventure, looking forward to getting back up on the wild moorlands for next camp, all the best Pat
Hi Pat, Mark "City Hall" here. That was a great video, spent the last 20 minutes with it on pause looking for my flat, just found it. I've also been thinking about an urban camp but all the spots I've looked at so far would have just made me look homeless. I walked down from the moors last week at night & I noticed the view was much darker, didn't give it much thought but you are right it must be the led lights, cheers
Hi mark nice to talk to you, I had same problem trying ti identify my house took ages as the telephoto lense seem to compress all the houses together found it eventually but could only see the roof. See you in Tesco some time all the best Pat
Very interesting to watch, thank you Patrick. Glad that you were not disturbed by any locals, especially teenagers. ...There again, in this day and age they'd be all tucked-up by that time with their ipads. ...Would have been very different in the '70s.
Hi Claire had a nice undisturbed night, always aware that somebody could disturb me so I kept a low profile, can,t compete with mobiles etc, I,am glad I was brought up through the seventies, thanks Pat
That's a great spot Patrick. I'm not massively familiar with that part of city, I lived in Stockbridge for a year in my teens. I recognise the quarry from my many drives to GoOutdoors from Chesterfield along that road. Some nice cafes around where you live too, The Rude Shipyard being one of my favs :-) Thanks for sharing
Hi Dean, nice to hear from you, you can get some great bargains at Gooutdoors now they price match and knock 10% off, got some new boots recently a bargain. The west of Sheffield heavily populated difficult to find a nice site with a view, many I looked at had a public path running nearby. This site above Homebase was perfect as it was secluded and had a view. thanks for your comments all the best Pat
Glad you've uploaded again, was at the bottom of kinder scout a couple of weeks ago, completely attacked by flying ants, never seen anything like it, made it to kinder downfall though, lovely views down the valley, all the best Lee 👍
Hi lee can,t wait to get back up on Kinder not camped up there for a while, usually avoid it in summer due to midges. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
Awesome bit of wild camping I've seen in a while and the foraging...well, it's the best one could ever wish to come across. Not sure that I'd feel 100% safe tethered to those railings no matter how high up they are. However, what a grand view. Thanks for sharing your superb adventure it's much appreciated. Take care...
Hi John yes a little bit different this camp, once I was behind the fence hidden in the grass and secured to fencing I felt very safe, and could then enjoy the view, thanks for comments and watching Pat
the traffic noise at the beginning ks quite loud but I could still understand you. Sheffiend looks like a very nice city. watching from the other side of the pond
Hi Kaylynn, yes very noisy to start with rush hour traffic on the way home from work. as you can see Sheffield is a very green city with many trees and a lot of Parks and green areas, thanks for your comments and watching Pat
I’m from Woodseats Pat 😂born on Derbyshire Lane. You were looking over my old childhood playground on Tadcaster 🙌🏻 I watched this a few years ago, had to revisit 😊 I played in the quarry before Homebase was built in the 1980’s-90’s building dens so effectively I got there before you (for once) 😁Sarah
Hi Sarah, yes know the area well, read about the quarry while trying to find the history of the Homebase camp, great childhood back then when you could roam about, playing in the woods etc, probably sowing the seeds for the future.. I think 2024 is going to be a great year for future adventures for both of us.....all the best Pat
Yes time flies by, every time I go to homebase I look up there, thinking perhaps a different camp I could do with my portaledge ...... all the best Pat 👍
Nice video Patrick. Brought back some fantastic memories. Born and brought up down Heeley, and then lived about 5 minutes from where you camped. Keep up the good work.
Michael Johnson Hi Michael glad the video brought back memories always nice took at somewhere that you are familiar with. My family was in Heely in late 1800 ,s so we have not moved far in last 150 years, nice to hear from you all the best Pat
Patrick Dickinson Hi , I am interested in your videos, being born and brought up in that area. I Remember camping near Castleton in mid 60s at Christmas. With an old army bivvy tent and a massive polythene fly sheet bought from God knows where. Many layers on for the night, and a candle burning throughout the the night. No fancy survival stuff then.😉
Hey Patrick, Loved your video in Sheffield, as I am originally from Leeds, now living in NZ. I used to ski twice a week in Sheffield, great place. Cheers Mike
Hi mike the Ski village burnt down about 4 years ago I did have a 2 hour refresher lesson there then it was gone, and we have had no snow for 2 years now. hope your enjoying NZ all the best pat
Pat I have watched a number of your videos and I must say they are very informative and also very funny. Anyone looking up at you would have thought you was a homeless guy camping out. I liked the video of you light painting and taking photographs in the disused railway tunnel. Keep up the great videos they are an inspiration to us all Atb..........Adrian
Hi Conor had this planned for a while but just could not find a suitable camp, every where in the city is so public, the beers were nice as well all part of a urban camp, all the best Pat
I love going camping with you pat. keep em coming mate I want to go on many more with you pat even though I'm not there all the best mate. long may you run pal ...respect to you
Terry Johns Hi again Terry hope to have another video up in Oct hopefully on Kinder but also have another visit down Megatron waiting, see what comes up , all the best Pat
Another enjoyable video, although whenever you are around that end of Sheffield my mouth starts to water at the thought of some Moonshine from the Abbeydale Brewery. Just don't see it often enough in places for my liking! Thanks again for taking us on an awesome camp. Finally got my first bivvy camp/test out of the way. You've opened up a whole range of extra options now!
Hi Chris glad you got your gear and camp sorted. that Moonshine is one of my favourites I like to try different beers but always come back to moonshine. I know they have it at robin Hood at £3-15 a pint, also at Norfolk Arms,Prince of Wales, The Broadfield to name a few great pint. nice to talk to you all the best Pat
Brill, and funny video again Patrick. Them urban foraged fish and chips smelled lovely. I have a thermarest mat like yours, and still use it.. See you in October
Hi Billy yes the smell of fish and chips just makes you want to go out and get some. Some bits of gear will last a life time you feel there expensive when you first buy them but if you get 30 years use then its a bargain. Hope to be out on the wild moorland in Oct, all the best Pat
Great video pal As always a great show and a change from your normal enjoyed it from start to finish including pubs and chippy . Your gymnastics on the high fence was awesome . Keep up the great work pal .
Nice one pat. Can't beat a bit of urban camping. I know of a place but need to recce it first. Looked precarious up there good idea with the clip on rope. Good to see you out again. Look forward to your next adventure atb.
Hi Andy yes though it would make a different adventure, the rope was so I did not fall off but also in case any passing yobs decided it would be a laugh to throw me off. difficult to find anywhere secluded everywhere has a path near it or is a grotty area. Back to the wild moorlands next camp, no traffic noise just the sound of the wind, all the best Pat
Top vid that pat. I'm enjoying watching your video, mate. I'm new to your channel, so I'm just getting down them, and I can say very enjoyable watch fella and broadfeild Road brings back some memories I worked on there paved and planted all trees and layed all kerbs from end to end top video pal
Hi James yes Broadfield Road is where all my family comes from si important , walked along it today, hope you enjoy my videos, although taking a break will be back in December....... thanks Pat 😀
@patrickdickinson6492 im a darnall lad me pat andI'll look forward to it pat and I think the shed pubs brilliant mate and I see you spent a lot of time making sure the beers was a good temperature 😉 top vids 👍
Ace video buddy, what a great idea for a camp, I like the sound of urban camping but finiding a good spot is difficult. Thanks for uploading your adventures, Dominic
What a top bloke! More people like Pat in the world be a far nicer place. Keep the vidz comin!
Thanks for kind comments much appreciated made my day thanks again Pat
Brilliant video, Patrick you deserve your own telly show, really good presenting style.
Hi and thanks for those kind comments, much appreciated hope to be out camping in October away from the city next time, all the best Pat
Patrick Dickinson any places you know off to wild camp in skegness ?
I find this with a lot of you tubers. Then put on the tv and you’ve got the most obnoxious cold egotistical twats being paid a fortune. Don’t know what these tv executives are thinking of
The north face of the Homebase, epic stuff. Chips and ale too.
😀😀
And in local news: Sheffield man impales himself on fence, following a lengthy pub crawl and a final feast of fish & chips.
Hi Matthew I still have 2 puncture marks on my wrist from when I threw my rucksack over and the weight impaled my wrist on the fence, did show it hurt though, all the best Pat
Interesting comments thanks Pat
very funny :)
Isle of Wight Bushcraft must be the beer, all the best Pat
Plus the idea is to be as low profile and inconspicuous as possible. A tarp (often bright blue, though yes of course you can get military greens) would have been like having a giant flag on the hilltop saying "Heeey look at me up here"
Then there's the fact that the slightest amount of wind will turn a tarp into a sail :O
Fish and chips looked lovely, shame you couldn't find a mushy pea plant to go along with them.
Hi yes when your hungry food outdoors taste so nice, no cooking and no washing up, thanks for comments and watching Pat

Always feel good after watching Pat's videos, a true inspiration. If I lived in your part of the world I would have a pint with you!
That,s really nice of you to say, may bump into you one day, thanks Pat
Your wild camp foraging skills are astounding, Patrick. All I ever found were a few old mushrooms. Fish and chips WITH salt and vinegar. WOW!,
Surprising what you can come across in the wilds of Sheffield, thanks Pat
@4:00 "You can get very merry for a tenner and you can get absolutely legless for 20 quid". I knew a girl like that once. I absolutely love your content, mate! Please don't ever stop.
Distraught Sheffield man was talked off of a cliff when authorities agreed to give him 2 sausage rolls and 4 pints of bitters.
Hi abe I would have the beer not sure about the sausage rolls though, like the comments, thanks Pat
I used to live at the top of that lane above Homebase. Many moons ago. Fond memories of Sheffield. Moved there as a student and ended up staying 10 years. Good to see it again. Stumbled across your channel. Glad I did. Subscribed 👍

Me too .... Around the corner on Cliffefield road. 1992 to 95. Great city and great memories. Great Video. I wonder if he flies Yorkshire Airways?
Bullshit. Lies and deceit I say.
Great video Patrick, very enjoyable. I was half expecting you to get legless and sleep in the gutter.
British Coastline Hi yes it could of gone that way if I had not got out them pub, still a great adventure, thanks for watching and comments Pat
I live about two miles from this spot and I would never in a million years think about camping here. Nice one Patrick, love this vid...
Hi i,am about same distance so not far to walk, alot of uphill as you can expect in Sheffield but at least you get a view. thanks for comments and watching Pat

Yes those fish and chips tasted so good, beer lovely as well what more could you ask for........ thanks Pat
Fantastic video. You need your own show. Very educational. Imam a camper and you always teach more. Thanks.
Thanks Colin, really nice comments, funny, I fancy some fish and chips now, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 Cheers Pat 👍🙂

Patrick, you sir are an absolute legend! Really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing 👍
Loved making this video Benny..... all the best Pat 👍
Excellent! I miss my home town Sheffield so this is great to watch. Keep up the fantastic work, as it's very much appreciated.
Your very welcome, some nice views of Sheffield western suburbs, with the hills in the background, all the best Pat
Yeah did the same myself in the ponds on the Porter valley great times and I,am sure we learnt a lot in those early adventurous days, great to hear from someone local to the area, thanks Pat
finally got to view every video.awesome sir.
love the pub crawl & homebase camp. ime inspired...
Glad you like them!...they were two of my favourites, both very enjoyable to make and film ......thanks Pat
Thanks Gary for the comments, the Ridgeway is one LDFP I would love to do, maybe one day, thanks Pat
Brilliant as ever Patrick, proper covert camping ,Class .
Yes Stephen, a proper stealth camp, just love being high up..... thanks Pat
One of the best videos on camping I've watched
2019 Pat
Half cooked at 5:20, brilliant. Instant subscribe. Going to start working my way through all your other vids now.
Hope you enjoy them, nothing like a wildcamp to get some peace and quiet, all the best Pat
Fab urban camp pat funny plus informative 👍, top guy 😊
Thanks Barrie 👍 remember this camp so much, amazing pitch, a few nice pints, and fish and chips......just perfect...... thanks Pat
Just brilliant would never of thought of urban camping
One of the exciting types of camping, your sences are very alert, all the night.....thanks Pat
Great economic case you made for Britain's choice to industrialize early . Your comparison of urban foraging to rural foraging . Very nice video and entertaining .
Thanks Montie certainly different a urban camp, easy foraging for sure, thanks Pat
One of my favourite of your videos so far.
Yes I did enjoy making this one... thanks Pat
Thanks Shaun, sounds like you live in a idyllic spot, great that you still come back to Sheffield, we do have some nice beer though, all the best Pat
I'd wait till the coronavirus has blown over and check it out 🙂
Thankyou Patrick, you are living my dream,Regards Phil Chesterfield.
Absolutely brilliant video, Pat!!! Can't believe you would even think about staying there with that drop!!!
Hi John once at the campsite and fastened to my safety line felt very secure, was concerned if anybody saw me and managed to stay hidden in long grass, little bit different but still a great camp, all the best Pat
thanks Patrick . taken totally by surprise i would never have guessed . first class as always
Hi Clive nice to do something a bit different keeps my brain working coming up with different ideas, thanks for comments all the best Pat
Loving your vids, been camping most places except the town I live in you've inspired me to give it a try, cheers.
Go for it!, there are some amazing campsites on your doorstep, thanks Pat
I know what i'm doing this weekend. A nice spot of wild camping :-)
I prefer the new lights as you can see the stars and the moon better.
Yes agree with you there seemed to be less light pollution with the new LED lighting, thanks Pat
Good stuff Pat. Interesting Entertaining nicely balance with humor and precarious places.
Great location, certainly a bit different love to try another one of these next year, thanks Pat
Absolutely Beautiful,,,,, Patrick you are one of a kind and absolute legend 😊
Thanks Thomas, little bit different this locations, but great site and successful foraging trip, thanks Pat
Hi Patrick ,
Fantastic vidéo, great views, .. vous me faites voyager ! many thanks .
Hi Jean glad you enjoyed the video, all the best Pat
Well Patrick, I have now watched all your vids except the last two, from the start over the last week or so. My wife has a quote, "Daft as a box of frogs" and I must agree where your concerned, especially after the pub crawl, never laughed so much for a while. You seem to be haphazard but I know you plan these escapades and make them look as its just another jolly old walk. I would never do what seems so natural to you, I swore to my self, never to kip in a tent again when I left the army in 1972 and we did sleep in some very snowy cold places without modern sleeping bags etc. I have kept to that promise.:)
I have never been to Sheffield and what impressed me from this vid, it looks like the houses are an after thought that take second precedence from trees.
That was fantastic, I used to enjoy going out urban camping, nice private spot you picked and a good vista
Hi Damien yes makes a interesting change from normal wild camping if you can find a nice spot, thanks Pat
I really enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing. Regards from México.
Thanks for watching!....and great to hear from Mexico.....thanks Pat
"the trouble with urban wild camping"... classic! great video Patrick
I did enjoy this camp, must do another one soon, thanks Pat
Below your camp location was an old brick quarry, where my Boss Walter used to have me burning PVC cable to weigh in for scrap copper. I was an apprentice spark. This was in the mid to late nineteen sixties. Nice documentary Pat-take care on your adventures.
Hi Alfred yes I had read about the brickworks, although I never saw it. Always nice to hear local stories like this, I was born in 1955 so just a child when you were a apprentice, nice to talk to you, all the best Pat
Now this is the best kind of wild camping. Couple of beers before hand 👍
Watching you walk near the edge of that cliff made me nervous. That fish n chips made me hungry.
Thanks for sharing Pat.
A great location felt very safe and secure..... all the best Pat
Patrick I'm slowly working my way through your films and your fastly approaching as one of my favourite UA-cam's,excellent work.Love your fish n chips supper while wild camping, that can't be beat along with the liquid refreshment on route haha.awesome stuff.
Thanks for sharing!
Wayneo Fox hi Wayne and thanks for the comments, mostly wild camping but do try and vary the videos, thanks again for kind comments Pat

You know how to live Patrick !! Another entertaining video, love the channel, thank you and looking forward to the tree camping too. Dr Paul.
DrTeno Guy hi Paul different camp not far from home, all helped to make a enjoyable wild camp, tree camping Portaledge progressing well should have final part of build on next few days, thanks Pat
Cheers Patrick.
Pat you're a legend. Im from Heeley and absolutely love your videos. Can't wait to shake your hand. All the best
Hi Paul may bump into you one day, often have a drink around Broadfield area, thanks Pat
Thanks once again pat that food god I could almost smell it another great video
Thanks Sophie, makes me feel hungry just thinking about those fish and chips, thanks Pat
Great to see you back out Patrick! A wild camp with a difference... excellent mate. Thanks for bringing us along. atb Paul.
Patrick that was a great vid well done I am liking the Urban Camping
Peter Rutter Hi Peter and thanks for comments a bit different but still enjoyable camp, thanks for watching Pat
Great video Pat. Always enjoy your adventures and sense of humour
Love what you doing Pat. Very entertaining and reminds me of some of the places I used to camp when I was younger. Bivvy bag and a few cans of beer.
Hello from Hull! I slept on the streets (in a bush) of Sheffield one night about 25 years ago. Crazy days. Interesting video.
Matt Hopper Hi Matt the things you do when your young, no gear at all I ,am it bit more wary now but felt very safe on this camp, all the best Pat
Glad you've uploaded again, was at the bottom of kinder scout a couple of weeks ago, completely attacked by flying ants, never seen anything like it, made it to kinder downfall though, lovely views down the valley, all the best
Lee 👍
Hi lee can,t wait to get back up on Kinder not camped up there for a while, usually avoid it in summer due to midges. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
A really interesting take on wild camping. Thanks!
Hi and thanks Dan nice to try a different type of camp, thanks Pat
Good to see a Northern UA-cam channel, very enjoyable. Looking forward to more.
I’m a Sheffield lad through and through it’s a shit hole it is, but it’s the best shit hole on earth
Fantastic that for an urban wild camp pat loved the video mate 🇬🇧⛺️🌲🍺👍
Hi Shane yes though I would do a different type of camp, still a mini adventure and easy for food and drink, thanks for comments and watching Pat
I’m from Woodseats Pat 😂born on Derbyshire Lane. You were looking over my old childhood playground on Tadcaster 🙌🏻 I watched this a few years ago, had to revisit 😊
I played in the quarry before Homebase was built in the 1980’s-90’s building dens so effectively I got there before you (for once) 😁Sarah
God ,Pat can’t believe this is 5 yr ago , I was working near there at the time ,and fancied having a go ! 👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺🍺
Yes time flies by, every time I go to homebase I look up there, thinking perhaps a different camp I could do with my portaledge ...... all the best Pat 👍
Great vid pat. Can't fault the price of the beer . Like the views and the
Fish and chips' made me hungry . Cheers Lawson much appreciated
Lawson Richards Hi Lawson, great camp this with easy food and drink, thanks for watching Pat
No fancy survival stuff then.😉
Michael Johnson yes Michael brings back happy memories, thanks Pat
Hey Patrick,
Loved your video in Sheffield, as I am originally from Leeds, now living in NZ. I used to ski twice a week in Sheffield, great place.
Cheers
Mike
Hi mike the Ski village burnt down about 4 years ago I did have a 2 hour refresher lesson there then it was gone, and we have had no snow for 2 years now. hope your enjoying NZ all the best pat
Really enjoyed the video Pat. Very funny. You wouldn't want to have many more pints on you walking across that ledge. Lol.
Hi yes your right just a couple could not walk past them without a couple of pints, turned out a interesting camp, all the best Pat
Pat I have watched a number of your videos and I must say they are very informative and also very funny. Anyone looking up at you would have thought you was a homeless guy camping out. I liked the video of you light painting and taking photographs in the disused railway tunnel. Keep up the great videos they are an inspiration to us all
Atb..........Adrian
Thanks Adrian, this was a amazing camp, not only for views. I always look up at this site when I drive past, all the best Pat
Urban stealth camping! Brilliant!! 👍🏼
Thanks Andrew, fantastic location, and fantastic, fish and chips, thanks Pat
that fish and chips how dare you scoff that in front of us that was an interesting camp site patrick and glad you were safe cheers trev and chris
Hi those fish and chips were beautiful. Starting to feel hungry now. Great site with a view, all the best Pat
Super video Pat. Great idea to camp in around the city. Always nice to have a few beers on the way too.
Hi Conor had this planned for a while but just could not find a suitable camp, every where in the city is so public, the beers were nice as well all part of a urban camp, all the best Pat
Hi Matt, was that your house next door to the pub, LoL, Another great video. keep them coming.
Hi David, if so I would never be out the pub, I could see my house from where I bivvyed though, all the best Pat
Very funny ..love your dry wit. the foraged fish and chips was good too.
Absolutely brilliant Patrick, thank you once again. Please keep them coming
Urban camp is an interesting idea indeed, bravo!
So many alternative places to pitch....thanks Pat
Great video pal
As always a great show and a change from your normal enjoyed it from start to finish including pubs and chippy .
Your gymnastics on the high fence was awesome .
Keep up the great work pal .
Andrew Seadon Hi Andrew and thanks for that was a great camp, easy to get there great food and beer, what more could you ask for, all the best Pat
Hi yes been meaning to do this urban camp all summer but took ages to find a secluded site with a view of course, thanks for watching Pat
something different, i really like this mate, well done! VERY funny! inspired me to think about trying an urban camp out, thanks.
Hi Tom a type of camp you could do anytime as long as you have a site picked out that was the difficult bit finding a secluded site, all the best Pat
