The last 20 minutes of this movie, the final race and this scene, turned it from a good movie into a work of art
i fucking love this movie!
Agreed!
This movie is a hidden gem!
Kellen Gray Even Niki’s comeback at Monza
I wouldn't call Ford vs. Ferrari a work of art and that movie is better. I like Rush as well it's a good movie. Just don't throw around terms like work of art so lightly. What will people call actual works of art after you used it on a movie like Rush 😂
@@johnszczerba9979calling it anything else than le mans 66 is criminal imo
This movie deserved an Oscar
I thought so too! didn't it get some awards at Cannes
Bruhl and Hemsworth both would’ve been on my first ballot if I was a member of The Academy Voting Committee in 2014.
Bruhl for Best Lead
Hemsworth for Best Supporting Actor.
Daniel became Lauda.
@@danielmoorefield4891 I agree, both oscar winning performances.
Im surprised they didn't get one 😩
Yeah.. Instead, Argo won that year... 🤔
What a scene. What a fucking scene. You are made of stone if tears don't well up when he says "He remains the only person, I ever envied."
Some day I will stop replaying scenes from this movie. Today is not that day.
Me too. Maybe these scenes ruin it for us who haven't watched it.
Agreed!
You are my brother! I feel the same.
A technical driver and a gutsy driver. Both of them were champions and were equally good during the prime years of their careers.
Lauda was better, but yeah, both great and the movie is a masterpiece
The great part of this scene is when we realise both of them are right in their arguments.. it's for us viewers to decide which side to be on.
Truly a masterpiece.
One man cheated death because the other pushed him so relentlessly to get back in the car. The other....chasing life for equally compelling reasons. The ending to this movie could change more lives than their own when you really listen to the messages given by both in this riveting ending scene. Both learned from each other. When Hunt tells Niki to stop making racing all about the percentages, you can tell that message resonated...and when Lauda reflects on the kind of life James led, watching him roll down the tarmac, there exists that tiny amount of envy coming from the ever calculating world champ. You could see it in his eyes. The ending cut featuring the legend himself is one of Ron Howard's finest cinematic decisions. So powerful to hear Lauda's words...reflecting on missing his friend. This is an incredible movie, not just for racing fans but for those who appreciate what it takes to win...and to live.
Maxx61 beautifully written, I️ could not agree with you more. You have reassured my faith in people’s ability to not only appreciate great movies but to wonder what they have to say about life, and in turn what can be learned from them.
Hunt was a big baby that throw away his life, family, and any sense of responsibility for cheap sex, drugs, alcohol and a good time.
@@RK-um9tu Clearly it was Hunt's goal to live life on HIS terms, which ran so contrary to that of Lauda's, the consummate pro that it would seem improbable elements of jealousy existed between them. I'm sure there were times where James told himself greater success might have come his way had he been more methodical in how he approached racing and in Nikki's case perhaps there existed a bit of jealousy in how Hunt relished life. A great many would find a life chasing booze, women and the next thrill to be a life well lived. It has to be written that while both made their money driving cars at speeds so terrifying most would struggle to understand the logic behind it, one left that daredeviltry on the track and the other brought it home with him.
@@Maxx61 Perfectly said 👏
Kinda shows you the beauty and tragedy of the human condition. We have a short time on this earth, but we have the choice of how we spend that time. There really is no "wrong" way to live and achieve your dreams, just try your best, in your own way.
2:44 I've only now noticed that he had stopped smoking when they were talking about Nikki's lungs treatment
In Monaco in 1973 I went to the post office to mail a race poster home, and there was a BRM crew member in the queue ahead of me and I said, “You’re looking good here with Regazzoni”, and he said, “Keep your eye on Lauda . . .”.
Four years later I was present for Lauda’s last victory with Ferrari, at Zandvoort.
I'm not into racing, but I absolutely love Rush, the acting by both Daniel and Chris is superb, Rush exceeded all my expectations!!
Same, masterpiece of a movie 👌
That's the Ron Howard effect. You talk about a remarkable life from adolescents to his mark on film making and personal life! Pure genius and class at the same time who is still married to his HS love.
VERY underated by the oscars
Another thing that makes this scene even better is the chilling music.. Hans Zimmer..😍
The music at the end with the V12 roar gives me chills every time.
“He remains the only one I envied”. When you cut to Lauda, it’s difficult not to feel a tad emotional.
Niki Lauda: When I was in hospital. The toughest part was pumping the shit out of my lungs. While in there I was watching television. Watching you win all my points.
James Hunt: Your points?
Niki Lauda: I remember thinking I hate that guy. Then then the doctor comes over and asks can I offer a piece of advice? Stop thinking of it as a curse to be given a enemy in life. It can be blessing to. A wise man learns more from his enemies than a fool from his friends.
The moral of the scene:
You can always enjoy your fortune or some sort of it both by living in the heart or living in the logic.
Ending gives me chills
The moment u realise fast and furious as shit ..
Absolutely
Only very few films can make you almost become the characters portrayed. When I watched Rush, I was Nikki for a moment and James for the next! I think we all have a Lauda and a Blunt in us. The urge to go over the edge at times and the urge to listen to logic at others. Life is, in my experience, a collection of split second decisions. Much like in Motorsport. Some are lauded as heroic and others bluntly mocked as untimely. An absolute beauty of a movie with excellent acting, great dialogue and of course Hans Zimmer!
Underrated movie 15/10
Balls versus brains. Two totally different drivers that were both excellent and it was fun seeing them racing together.
First of all i love this film, but not only because of a good acting, good story or music. I really got into these two characters wondering who of them has a better life approach. Sometimes i think i woudl like to be like james because of a great life style On the other hand, Niki was so smart, he build airline company and had a beautiful wife. Anyway you can learn from both of them.
Live everyday as if its your last.... because.. one day.... You Will Be Right!
That ending gives you chills
This movie changed my life
Same, a true masterpiece
"You kill whats good about this. You kill the sport." Can't get over just how well Howard understood F1 (and the English vs German mentality - we've always admired them and they've always envied us) as an American. What a pro.
Chills. Pure chills.
Perfect movie
This movie motivated me more than anything else.
Goosebumps all time ❤
I get a fizz by just watching the movie, can't imagine how it would have been for James and Niki to have actually driven those monster machines. Easily the best movie on motor racing.
"Your relentless"
"thank you"
"Not sure that was meant that as a complement"
Always loved that exchange that perfictly defined their contrasting personalities.
Niki:- He remains the only person i envied
Me:- 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭its so emotional
Amazing acting, summed them both up perfectly. Us Brits like to burn out rather than fade away. That's just the way we roll.
Nikki and James...oil and water..but fast friends that truly cared about racing..but more importantly..each other..loved this depiction..the film and actors first place!!
Sad the left out the best part of the story, James Hunt shagging every stewardess that had layover in the Tokyo Hilton for 2 weeks after winning the championship.
soo underrated movie! Awesome actings By Chris and Daniel!
Legends both of them RIP champs
These 2 great men were a big part of my childhood!
This end gives me chills
Greatest movie I have ever seen
Bloody love this movie 💕
Such a good movie!
These things make grown men cry 🥲
They're both geniuses. Both correct in their own ways
great story, great movie
The star that burns the brightest burns the shortest.
Work of art!
One of the Best climax
Hands down my best racing movie of all time.
greatest movie ever!
Epic movie, epic scene
like goku and vegeta
“ I love my opponent…he makes me better” 1970s wrestling poster…
Epic movie
Best movie ever
Powerful stuff from James arguing the mythical passion of F1
Yeah
I like to think they both on a track somewhere finishing of the final battle in the afterlife
What a scene, both are correct
Fantastic movie. Joi de Vivre or bean counting ? which one are you in this infinitely finite and short life?
Zemo vs. Thor best film ever
Hand Zimmer OST makes it epic
Brühl is just excellent in this movie. Pozdro666
Cool movie. Aaron Eckhart would do a great Hunt too
Waiting for a rosberg vs hamilton movie in 2016 season having a similar conversation as this. Being rivals and enemies all season but in the final scene acknowledging it's other
Goku vs Vegeta = Lauda vs Hunt :)
If you didn't already follow the sport, how could you watch this and not fall in love with Formula 1? Sure it's a borefest Verstappen victory parade every raceday right now, but you get years like 2021, or 2016, or 2008, or most of the 80s, or here 1976, where there is no greater season-long drama in a sport anywhere else in the world.
Man
Helmut Zemo!
Which one are you?
Niki please…the name is Niki Lauda.
somehow this feels like Wilt chamberlain and Billl Russell
Should've been nominated but of course liberal Hollywood doesn't nominate movies that don't have anything to do with LGBT, African Americans, muslims and feminists. But The ending was pure gold. It shows that niki was a very smart man who used logic and reasoning and thought that happiness was an emotion that weakminded people get taken over by. And who was the one that died from living such a risky and immature lifestyle? The infamous, partying, drug using, James hunt. Truthfully, in real sense, Niki Laudawas the one that actually won
Mark Smith muslims? What?
They both won, in a sense; depends on what type of person you are?
Mark Smith @
This movie was way before LGBT whatever, this was ignored because it did what was supposed to, give us a rush with all the intellectual content squeezed in perfectly and it didn’t sit well with the Oscars as they prefer some long drawn out personal conflict sagas.
Most unbelievable part of this is that they’d be smoking any kind of prerolled cigarette in Bologna.
We need to look into % because that will not kill the sport and that will also save the players. Else only broad casters and organisors will make money by increasing the risk...
Didnt know edward kenway used to race.
If Nikki really wanted Hunt to return for another year, he wouldn't have come at him like this.
He would have challenged him by saying that he wouldn't be a true champion until they finished another season.
He could have leveraged him back into the car by telling him that everyone knows his win was just luck because Nikki crashed out.
If everyone told Hunt that he would never be a true champion until he beat Nikki Lauda, there wouldn't have been anything that could have kept him off the track.
Maybe. Maybe not. All speculation really
The lesson is , don't abuse your body with substances..
The lesson is, every man follows his own path
It’s NIKI. Not nikki.
Thor and Baron Zemo …..
Was that heart attack caused by drugs?
in the end its the actor who is talking and not the real niki lauda right ?
NINE FIGURE FIGHTER true. It was Daniel Bruhl's voice.
@@everythingisawesome2903 Sure sounded like the real Niki Lauda.
@@WobblinGoblin1Daniel is a great actor. Niki really liked him - flew him down to Brazil when they first met to give him the feel of a race weekend. Niki was with Toto at Mercedes by then.
Okay okay
Who made the big money from all this in reality.?
NİKİ LAUDA NOT NİKKİ
I dont watch F1, but this movie was really good.
you should, before Zhou gets sacked. Have a feel of having a driver represent your country. You'll love it.
The background music, always a inspiration in the downtimes.
Gugan- Reminisce where you were when you saw this first and where are you now. It was indeed a miracle, my friend. We did it and still doing it.
