Ladies, gentlemen, mancs. This month marks a momentous milestone: the 20 year anniversary of Ricky, Steve and Karl. Their first broadcast together went out on XFM in Sep 2001, and we’ve been falling asleep to them ever since. Did you ever think you’d be listening obsessively to a 20 year old radio show? And will we still be doing so in another 20? Long live RSK!
What an era.
Since 2009.
True
I got my 18-year-old nephew into it so the next generations will probably keep it going
And where’s Dr Fox now?? Is anyone listening to his inane - same old, same old shite - 20 years later??
It’s a rhetorical question!
I know the answer is no!
And Steve laughed when the producer of the Radio 2 Christmas specials said ‘people might want to listen again’.
I’m from a rural former-confederate area in the US. I can’t remember how or why (it was when I forced myself to listen to different perspectives) and I was HOOKED!
Ricky was a big fan of Opie & Anthony (ft. Jim Norton) and he fit in well with them. It’s the show where he said “this is the greatest job/show ever! It’s not work it’s just funny guys hanging out and bullshitting”.
There’s a podcast called “The Chip Chipperson Podacast” and he did a little bit for it that was hilarious, and Gervais mentioned how good it was.
This, Stern, O&A, Ron and Fez, podcasts like Hollywood Handbook, Chip Chipperson, Bonfire, Comedy Bang Bang, You Know What Dude, are the last bastions of this type of show.
here we go again...who else ;)
Ricky to Karl, "I wouldn't want to wind you up to a point of frenzy"
oh how things changed..
"Well you do, and everyone knows that. Honestly. You do me head in."
Possibly the biggest lie in the history of.. everything!!! Seconded only by : "Right!!! That's the end of that feature!!!" :p
Dude same thought i had. I've gone through these several times and i totally forgot he said that
Nice profile picture.
”was it something I said?”
I'm an italian guy that just found by pure chance a small 1 minute animated clip of Ricky, Karl and Steve. Intrigued and amused, i clicked on the next one, and the next one. Then i discovered that there was a whole show with 20 minutes long animated episodes. I devoured all 3 seasons of the animated series in a couple of days. By then i fell in love with the 3 of them, and discovered the Karl tv shows and this XFM series. So i'm now watching An Idiot Abroad for the first time (currently watched the first two episodes) and i just started listening to this series. I can't get enough of Karl and the way Ricky and Steve interact with him. I'm so glad i stumbled across them and i'm now a big fan!
I went the same route. Just finished all 3 seasons of the animated show.. and now I'm here.
and, arguably, the XFM shows are their best product
Welcome to the club mate!
Good luck for Italy in the world c....
Ohh, yeah.
Downloads of Steve's radio show are out there as well. Not as good as these but still well worth listening to.
Karl has also gone on to do his own shows "The Moaning of Life" and "Sick of It"
7 years of listening to these xfm shows on rotation. Not sure how I'm going to explain to a potential future partner that I have to listen to these shows in bed...
you dont explain, you just put it on
10 years for me. Started with the podcasts and I listen to Ricky every night for bed
If you’re a match then they will enjoy it too ☺️😊
“Do your own thing see if she joins in”
My girlfriend isn't happy but I do it anyway. Compromise. Have it low volume.
Been listening to these since I was 17 & I’m 28 now.
Amused at Ricky saying ‘I wouldn’t want to wind you up in to a frenzy’ and then thinking about the years that followed.
If I was to ever meet Ricky, Steve or Karl, I'd love to show them the comments on this UA-cam channel. The countless number of people commenting on how many times they've run through this series, or the weird subculture of people that fall asleep listening to the podcasts. I just think it's a great community and one that they could look at and feel proud of how much they have influenced people's lives. Thanks Man Moth
Ollie H-A They’d be slightly horrified and laugh at you. So, I wouldn’t recommend telling them “I’m part of this group of people that listen to you over and over again.”
Weird innit.
Man moth is the messiah
Also the number of people who mention how they've used RSK episodes as a salve for their depression.
....Just noticed exactly that kind of comment two below this one, pure coincidence
I suffered depression for 10 years and I accidently came upon these shows on xfm.id never laughed more at anything in my whole life.i started looking forward to Saturday afternoons.probably the highlight of my week.thank you Ricky,Steve and of course Karl.and now I can listen whenever.
They’re such a great relief, aren’t they? These XFM episodes should be medically prescribed.
I neverr get sick of these haha
Congratulations, you reading this has just changed your life.
I suffered from depression for 16 years... Then one day I woke up and it was gone.
I am the proof depression isn't forever. 16 years of a way, suddenly gone for no reason at all.
I got lucky. I hope you do to.
I remember listening to this on my way to school, doing my GCSEs. I'm now 25, living in my own flat and working full time. Nothing changes. I just wish I could erase my memory and listen to it all for the first time again
Haha. That is great. Well done you! I have listened to them through sad times and back to happy times and they help me cope. They keep me company when I go to give my horses hay at 3am on a cold morning. They keep me company while cleaning stalls, cooking, shopping etc
I discovered these and the podcasts properly while I was at uni.. now 10+ years later I'm still listening ;)
Im listening to it for the first time, for you brother
Well done
Agreed mate. Good times
4:18 Karl: "But I look normal." Interesting how this is so early in their relationship that Ricky and Steve don't even pick up on the fact that this is an insult about Steve's looks. 😂 One season later, Ricky would start stirring right away after that comment.
4:28 - The irony of the years to come "I wouldn't want to wind you up to the point of frenzy"
This radio has two big things I look for in a radio show, it is both fly and dope.
I was expecting you to mention Steve's goggle-eyes :)
Num47 😂😂😂
High five!
Here we go again!
+Joel Cameron i literally just commented the exact same thing and 2 seconds later i saw you beat me to it :( lmao
Sarah Frost We may come from different walks of life, but at least we're all bound together by our appreciation of some bald little twat from Manchester with a head like a fucking orange.
Has it really been ten months?
It's been another ten months now
Yep back on it again. It's been a year
I'm leaving this comment as I start from the beginning once more!! 😂😍 Cannot count how many times I've listened through these shows, podcasts, specials etc.. I'll find this comment once I've done another rotation. See you soon folks! Night night!
I try to find other things to listen to while I'm working, but I always come back to these.
Moi aussi. If anyone has alternative things to mix in please share
@@SunnyDays00 Peter Crouch Podcast is good if you are into football but it is not very serious or on topic, anyone can listen to it
Might be a bit late for you, but I have a channel where I'm posting Adam & Joe XFM shows, from when they started to cover for Ricky, Steve & Karl in 2003 through to 2006, I'm currently at late 2005. They are very funny, a very different style to RSK but some lol moments. I've listened to RSK and A&J on a loop most days for a good 10 years now! A&J helps to lengthen the loop!
Taking the opportunity to advertise and maybe get some subscribers. If anyone does listen, do let me know what you think of the channel.

Imagine if these were never even recorded at the time they were going out live. It's amazing that they decided to record them in the first place.
It's all thanks to one guy (Richard Hare) who recorded and preserved these shows- XFM had a policy of literally just throwing away recordings at the time so we wouldn't have any of the XFM stuff if it wasn't for him!
So does that mean that Mr. Hare just wasn't able to record the first few weeks and the beginning of this hour? Tantalizing to think there's more out there
I listened to these so many times, I can no longer think straight...
I now say "went for a wander" and "init?" .This is getting scary... 😂😂
Hahaha, me too
Anyone catch themselves saying squoze instead of squeezed? :o
Hello everyone just want to say its nice to see you all again back at the start, as a fellow fan for 20 years I would like to say I think the reason we love listening to these is because Ricky, Steve and Karl are like Misfits, at the time they were doing the shows XFM was like the teenage angst station, alternative and different and these 3 were just 3 ordinary blokes nothing to gain, nothing to lose, sure Ricky and Steve wrote the office but apart from that they were genuine. Ricky was a man who dropped out of alot and just did what he liked, Steve was the nerdlinger that no one would hang out with and Karl was the odd northerner we can relate too on occassion. What I'm trying to get at is that we enjoy the shoddyness of the show format because thats reality to us and we can laugh at the tripe that they come out with like mates in a pub.
I will end this by saying I am glad Man Moth uploaded these shows, it brings us all together, some of us are lonely, some of us sleep and some work to these shows.
Well said👍🏻☺️
Wine poured, time for another round of xfm.
back on the merry go round. this must, genuinely be my 30+time :/
Its kind of depressing isnt it? im full of shame and self loathing but still know its not going to be the last time....
This is my only real addiction. 30+ here too.
Same here and I ain't even ashamed :D
11 years for me. so many goes round and random eps.....making me sad how long ago this was now though
Its gotta be at least my 12th
will i ever get tired of this shows? (5 years in rotation)
2012 for me
Are you still going tho?
Just finished the Guides to, and now it's back to the beginning!
Whenever I hear Ricky say 'I wouldn't really want to wind you up to the point of frenzy', my mind always does a CUT TO.
15:55 “I’ve offended someone, which I don’t like to do” - Ricky Gervais, 2002
How things change!
Why yes, I AM here for my yearly re-listen, thanks for asking
Clearly you don't actually understand Ricky at all...
He doesn't like offending anyone which is true, but when he does he doesn't give a shit. There is a massive difference.
“I wouldn’t wanna wind you up to the point of frenzy” - he must’ve forgotten those words over the next 10 years 😂😂😂
I'll never tire of hearing Steve snorting and snarfing at his own joke at Suzanne's expense, to absolute silence, then Karl nailing him.
i think that’s karl’s laugh though at 4:55
"Karl, I'm glad you brought this up. Because, for me, a lightweight frothy entertainment show on a Saturday afternoon is exactly the place where I want to discuss the desperate, lonely future that's inevitably coming my way." 🤣🤣🤣
For some reason I come back to this podcast every year around Sept-ish time and listen throughout winter.
It’s like listening to old friends talk and even the comments have a strong sense of community lol. Brings me real comfort in a time of year that can be pretty shitty
I discovered them in like 2005 on accident online. I regularly go back and listen through all the xfm shows, podcasts specials everything. Still as funny to me today as they were almost 20 years ago. Rockbusters forever
Like A Christmas Carol.
I tend to do all the XFM shows , then the special ones like the NME and fame and podfather ones or radio 2 stuff , then Ricky's guide too's , a few compilations , then back to xfm
This is pretty much my exact routine
Yep same
Goodnight fellow Dilkingtons
I put it in the Bin
Possibly my 4th run through all of these. They just never get old and I'm still certain I'll end up hearing something I haven't heard yet, falling about laughing when I least expect it.
15 year anniversary today!
PanikGrafik wow how time flies. How the world has changed.
Ziip47 911
i love the early episodes where they get to know karl
YES. It's the evolution of Karl. Very organic. LOVE IT!
"you sort of look normal"
"I wouldn't want to wind you up"
Lol
Man alive , Steve uses the same arbitrary words all the time- it's ludicrous!
Steve "arbitrary" Merchant
Stephen “China town is merely a novelty street”
nicely done
Pudding Brain interminable........
thats got to be libellous
Spotify let me down, ManMoth never would
“I wouldn’t really want to wind you up to the point of frenzy.”
Thankfully Ricky didn’t stick to that.
Just as amazing as the first time I listened, back again.
Didn't think I'd see you here
WAIT WHAT AHAHA HELLO
+Dylxn LIVING MEME
Shows so often take a season or two to find their feet, but I love how this is brilliant straight out the gate. Strong start with the Jungle Book review and Karl havin a go at Steve, absolutely legendary.
I'm not so sure about that. After watching the Ricky Gervais show a few times, this honestly seems pretty dull and aimless. Yes, I know the Ricky Gervais show spliced parts from different episodes into a certain theme, but this kind of feels like they're winging it. Even Ricky said he was disappointed in himself and that he'd bored himself. I REALLY want to enjoy this series because I absolutely love the animated show. I'll keep listening to the next ones but I hope it improves.
@@sneezydeezymcdeluxe7015 it definitely gets better, I think it peaks towards the end of series 2 and series 3
After years of watching these guys, the speed at which the very first episode in the very first series escalates into arguments and shittalking never ceases to amaze me. Karl lashing out at Steve after only 5 mins on air lol
This isn't the first episode, I don't know why it's labelled as such. Karl makes a lot of very tentative, quiet appearances before he gets fully going like he does here. I think the first ep is two months before this.
Wish they still did stuff together. Watched and listened to everything they do. Idiot abroad , ladies man, Derek etc. Karl is my fave
Back again for another listen. Never gets old.
Back for another round 😂
Time for another go around
in this episode when Ricky says he wouldn't want to properly wind karl up LOL how things changed!!
been listening to all these on loop every night in bed since summer 2010. still never gets old xD
Here we go again. Love it.
Back once again.
I've lost count now how many rotations this has had for me.
Let's start the endless cycle of listening to them all over again
Just leaving my comment as I restart this again. Want to see how long it takes.
iTemp you still going?
Init I wanna know
Haha I've just realised it's rich 😂
Dickers!
How long did it take?
I'm diving in for the first time, wish me luck chaps.
What do you think of it?
Don't leave us hanging! We have to know what you thought of it.
@@lackedpuppet9022 I'm fundamentally changed as a human
MOUTHBREATHER the return of a king only a year and a half later, we love to see it
Two years later, I bet you're still falling asleep to these in bed
Mad how addictive these are. Finished my first ever loop of all things RSK and now still feel tempted to listen to it all over again like everyone else says.
The XFM stuff especially.
That's cute.
Im on my 74th loop.
Some of us are pretenders, some of us are actual fans.
@@kygodragon4782 Erm okay. Thanks for telling me.
3 weeks of summer vacation, its that time again, fourth year running. Lets go!
I can't believe its 20 years since this
“I really wouldn’t want to wind you up to a point of frenzy” … Ricky definitely changed his mind there.
Here we are again, lads. One more time around the sun.
Hes done it again, hes done you again...
*Need a break from the 2020 madness? Welcome. You won't be disappointed 😆*
These never get old
Steve’s response to Karl’s dig is brilliant
here we go again!
Bout time for another binge who's in?
I'm here starting at series one episode one for the hundredth time but this year in preparation for the RSK Convention on 10th September 💃👌🏼
Cant believe these were 20 years ago... Wish they'd make more
Today is the 20th anniversary of this show!
I used to listen to these when I was working in Winsor. Bombing round in the work van with this on the radio. Every saturday. Happy times man. Cheers for the upload
Turned 18, decided why not start my 4th go round. Feeling a bit adventurous so I might even sit through the Claire Sturgess ones
At least my 40th go around, been listening for 3 years
Man alive!
Weird innit.
Here we go again. Sleep well all x
My god, I was only 5 when this first broadcasted!
I was 12.
Weird innit.
HE'S DONE YOU AGAIN STEVE
I've heard various "best bits" and feature compilations, but now it's time to listen to it all, in it's entirety, from the start. Thank you Man Moth!
Well done mate, I'm on my 78th repeat.
Some of us are real fans and some of us pretend to be.
@@kygodragon4782 So my initial comment was over 8 years ago. I now listen to the XFM shows most days. I'm essentially Sturgiss now, and this is my skag.
Commenting now so I can see how long it takes me to come back again.
21st November 2018
27th April 2019
20th December 2019
17th May 2020
10th October 2020
Just want to say that despite the current wave of new UA-camrs trying to make a quick buck or some recognition in uploading these XFM shows. Man Moth has been here the whole time with the entire back catalogue. Man Moth forever!
"I wouldn't really like to wind you up to a point of frenzy..."
What a great opening for Ricky and Karl.
A foreshadowing of things to come.
Thanks very much for uploading these, so convenient to have it all on youtube rather than have to trawl through 10-year-old download links most of which are awful quality.
This must be my millionth time around, every single night 365 days a year. I love it
The lost episodes that come before this one are worth more than gold. If someone ever finds a recording of them and puts them online, they will be a venerated hero in the Ricky Gervais Show community.
It's enough to drive a man mad, searching for those lost shows.
Seems like a lost cause. 😔
You want them? Then pay me.
I ain't giving you something that's worth gold for free.
I've been listening to these since about 2010.
Who’s here after the Spotify playlists were taken down?
Nope, never listened to them on Spotify.
Time for the seventh round through. Let's go!
“Steve just back announce that for us”… here we go again!
So great to read that I’m not the only one who has to fall asleep to these! I’ve listened to them all many times but in random order. So I’m joining everyone who is leaving a comment at the start and seeing how long it takes me to do this whole playlist in order! It’s so relaxing to fall asleep too - even though I’ve heard them all so many times before! Can’t believe I was only 5 when this aired and we’re all listening 20 years later 😂 bet they wouldn’t have expected that!
Time to listen again...
It's funny how Steve's dating a model now. Guess he overcame his fears.
He finally splashed out on a lady.
Let's be honest, back in the day you had to be good looking to be a model, now days you can be a model because of your colour, odd looks or because you are simply fat.
Being a model is no longer a honor.
I've lost count of how many times I've gone through the XFM saga.
Here I go again.
4:30 "I wouldn't really want to wind you up to a point of frenzy" That soon changed!
I wish the September + October shows still existed
JackWolf *make the office uk vs us*
JackWolf what happened to them?
@thelunaticfringe Have you listened to series 0?
On another run through of everything these 3 have put out, just commenting so I have a time stamp that I can see when I go round again...
I’ve listened to the entire series of shows dozens of times over the years and I can’t wait to start all over again. Even got some new material this time with series 0 which I’d never heard but always suspected existed somewhere. Fantastic
4th time around. Honestly, best radio show ever. Too bad there are a few episodes before this one that have no known recordings. I hope someday someone finds them.
If you are a first time listener... welcome to the friendliest fanbase on UA-cam.
This has become a yearly ritual for me.
Used to be yearly for me - now it's a lockdown necessity.
I do love the high-speed banter between Ricky & Steve
1st time for me !! Watched The Ricky Gervais Show x 2 and now in lockdown i’ve got all these to enjoy 😊😊
Welcome to the endless cycle
Where it all began
Calling Karl a simpleton and Susan someone who eats out of bins then gets all offended when Karl insults him back what does he expect plus he’s such an easy target 😂
@@LukasOfTheLight well...
These shows really are golden. I love how innocent they all are. It never tries to be anything or pretend to be anything that it’s not. It’s just natural perfection.
It’s been a little over a year and several go rounds, and I can’t imagine life without these, but I’ve never timed how long it takes, so cheers mates
Jesus. That only took 3 months. Oh well, here we go again, lads.
Omg when karl comes in and haves a go at steve i laugh so i cry
