@@ronniebishop2496 Monty wanted Supreme Command because as so many others, he was a glory hound Narrcistist. He resented having to defer to Eisenhower because of the superior resources the USA brought to the effort. That "Market Garden" fiasco was Monty's baby, he pestered the Allied Command to let him do that even after "Ultra" intercepts indicated that the situation on the ground had changed with the transfer of strong German armored unit to the area. "Ultra" was still classified for decades after the war saving Monty's reputation. Eisenhower was constantly fending off Monty's arrogant overtures at usurping field Command in the Northern ETO. He wanted to be given American forces in addition to Britain's for a massive forces of 40 divisions for HIM to make the charge into Germany. An impetuous Churchill did a great disservice to Wavell and O'Connor in North Africa. Both performed well under disadvantaged circumstances in those early months of the war, but Churchill, ever the showman, as all the world is a stage for politicians you know, threw them under the proverbial bus for a new public image in Montgomery.

At 6 feet 4 inches, Tom Selleck is just too gigantic to play Eisenhower.......
Eisenhower should be wearing "5" stars, not 4>>>>During a time of war, the top U.S. Generals are given the title "General of the Army" and are issued 5 stars, which were given to Generals Marshall, MacArthur, and Eisenhower during World War II.........

Actually, Eisenhower was promoted to 5-star General on 20 December 1944 while D-Day occurred on 6 June 1944. But you knew that. And it's not 'are' but were since the last 5-star rank was awarded (not 'issued') to Army General Omar Bradley on 22 December 1950. Thanks for playing though...
