In this video we take the CZ 457 Varmint MTR rifle I personally use for PRS22 competition. We show accuracy out at 50 yards on paper with Center X Match Ammunition and talk about the rifle based on my personal experience.
Benefits to the 457 MTR over a traditional 457 rifle is the Turkish walnut stock with plastic pillars as well as the very accurate match chamber barrel. - Спорт

Try a wide variety of different brands of match ammo from the less expensive to the higher priced ammunition .

Eley semi auto benchrest precision, rws r50 and lapua pistol osp right now are my top ammos to play with more. have some club, haven't shot it yet. Have had mixed results with federal gmm, rws r100, lapua pistol king, some older eley lr pistol ammo.
My rifle likes RWS also. I found a lot number in R100 that shot just like R50 and saved a ton on buying that lot number. Most R100 doesn't preform like R50 but some does. At a savings of $8.00 (in 2019) a box it's worth trying. When you buy the entire lot number they'll work with ya on the price. I ordered mine from Anschutz America in Alabama, they are good at mixing lot numbers for you to try. Hope this helps
That's good to hear. I just went out today and shot 3 different lots of rws 50, I am keeping 2 and getting rid of the rest, I also ran 5 lots of eley semi auto benchrest precision and gonna be moving all of those along as well.
My rifle really likes the lapua pistol osp, sk standard +, and rws r50. Today was the 1st time putting sk through it and it shot dam good
@@calebhallett2132 SK is a sister company of Lapua so usually if a rifle likes one it'll like the other. Usually the same gun won't like RWS. I was looking at the Anschutz America website and R50 is $22 and R100 is $25. Supply and demand I guess, they have a lot more R50. I ordered R100 in 2019 for $9ish a box.
Yeah I knew sk and lapua was sister or mom and daughter companies, I just hadn't experienced how similar they would shoot till yesterday.
Not sure why most guns that like lapua won't like rws, but this one does. The last rws I got was 15$ a box, probably cause it was some tail end of a lot ammo.

Josh I currently am shooting a cz 457 varmint (not MTR) in a bravo three chassis with a vortex strike eagle 5-25 optic. I am not using the best of ammo mostly ccisv wolf and eley bulk from CMP I think it it supposed to be club. currently .6 groups and or better are my average. My question is this. Would it be worth upgrading my rifle to an mtr or lothar barrel, should I go for a stock mtr or just shutup and keep shooting.
I would honestly try some other ammo before jumping on another barrel.
Here's one of my first questions. You were cleaning the barrel before each test. Then I assume you're not seasoning the boar with the ammo that you testing? That would explain the shift of impact.
Most ammo changes im seasoning the barrel before hand. I cant recall on this test exactly, its been quite a while ago

Yup but it was tested for the lilja barrel not the stock mtr barrel

in the Eley test the target was perfectly still, in this test, it is clearly moving in the wind. Not trying to be a dick, but honestly, it's not a fair comparison.
No offense taken Slick. I changed target stands to correct that and the center x will be in the finale either way
Josh, My MTR does not shoot this well. If I go back a year ago this shot well a couple years ago. My MTR shoots SK Pistol match better tha n Center X

Yeah wind was moving it a little bit. Exaggerated by the camera being super close
Given the price of this ammo vs others, I'm not really impressed with it. For what they ask for it, I'd think it would be better accuracy.
Its going to be barrel dependant. With rimfires you will find there is no direct $ to performance ratio.
The $$ gets you more consistent ammo but if its at a speed your barrel doesnt like it wont matter.

@@PursuitofAccuracy I had an interest experience today and learned a lot from it. I shot some Norma Tac-22 at 50 yards, good groups I think for a factory barreled 10/22 all in the 1.25 inch some better. But the shot some CCI mini mags, still had tight groups but they were 4 inches higher than point of aim. 150 fps difference between the 2 types of ammo. Didn't realize they could be that different.
Hard to count any results from a test where the target is flapping like a flag.
Its not as bad as it looks....that being said its now shot on a fixed target stand so the wind doesnt move the target at all

Different lots of Center X shoot much better, try different lots. shoot off a Caldwell BR and rear bag for best results and use the bipod for shooting disciplines that require movement and shooting over obstacles and larger steel targets.
That lot of center x was the best shooting lot that was tested for that barrel at the lapua test center. It typically performs better than that however.
