The effort is crazy, but nothing happening here is glitches. It's RNG exploitation. People just learned how the game generates random numbers and how it uses those random numbers, so they put that knowledge together to get the game to give them desired outcomes.
@@ThePurplePeppy Oh. Isn't it still a glitch though, since you're doing something the game wasn't supposed to let you? I don't know much about programming, so I can't tell the difference. (Sorry if it sounds like I'm correcting you, I'm just curious and want to know the difference)
@@TheUnovanZorua no, a glitch means the game performs like it shouldn't. Here the game performs exactly like it should, it's just that the player knows something they shouldn't know. In it's core it's similar to looking up your opponent's movesets so you know what they will use against you and prepare for it. Just instead of looking up a moveset and act accordingly, you look up the time frame and actions needed that would lead to getting an optimal encounter.
@Unovan Zorua As the other commentor pointed out, a glitch is unintended behavior. Missingno appearing and making it so the quantity of the 7th item you have in your bag be 128 is unintended behavior from the game. The developers for sure did not intend for an error to appear in battle as well as other behaviors that occur because of Missingno. What is happening in this video on the other hand, is intended behavior. The developers did intend for you to be able to get masterballs from the goldenrod lottery, get Cyndaquil with these stats, and get Raikou with these stats. They tied all of these events to random number generation. The thing with technology is that no number generated with current tech is truly random, there is a series of inputs put together that result in the psuedo-random result. Good random number generators give the perception of random to a user with a ton of different inputs, but if determined enough (like a large dedicated pokemon playerbase), then how the random numbers are generated can be discovered and manipulated. It's understandable at first glance to be confused by whats going on, but the developers did use the date and time of the console on game startup as well as inputs to determine how the game generates random values, players were just clever enough to figure them out and figure out how to make the seemingly random results work in their favor.
