I believe remco has similar climbing ability because of his weight and power but his rate of recovery is nowhere near pogacar and vingegaard level of recovery. And i feel that recovery is hard to train. You either recover quick or you dont. However i would love to see him prove this theory wrong becuase it would be great for the sport if it was a 3 horse race.

    • @indonesiaamerica7050
      @indonesiaamerica7050 Рік тому

No. It's not "recovery" difficulty but managing his exertions in the conditions he found himself in. And that is as much on his team as it is on the protected rider. His "wolf pack" team is delusional.
"You either recover quick or you dont."
That's the most fallacious thing I've ever heard about human physiology. And he did in fact recover well. He just "bonked" too hard and caught himself off-guard. That means his team was not monitoring his exertions or teaching him how to do it on his own in "the wolf pack". Something like this can happen in a race like the Vuelta just from improper planning of the cog selection and team strategy through some of the tough sections of the stage.

Remco Evenepoel is doing incredible stuff on the bike, and realy no one in the world can deny that he does have a huge amount of talent. But when it comes to stage races he's not (YET) at the same level as Vingegaard, Roglic and Pogacar. Which is also the reason why he could never beat on of those three in a stage race in which neither of them did crash out of the race or get sick before the end.
I do not say that he will never win the Tour de France, because the kid is still young and can still learn and improve. But my humble opinion is that he's not there yet when it comes to beat the other "big three".

He has unfinished business in Italy, so it would make so much more sense for him to ride the '24 Giro. Yet give him credit for all this bluster over the '24 Tour. Still, should he falter and cry himself a river in France, I think he should simply be commended for stepping up to the plate and swinging for the fence. And why does he not simply say, hey, first time for this, being anywhere on the podium would be the dream, it would mean he defeated one of his three famous rivals. And Remco may very well have his way at the Tour one day--or days if he goes stage hunting next July, something he would surely do well as his rivals watch each other for the overall. And it is all fun to speculate, so I got no problem with you, Watts, saying he could dominate. And who knows, maybe this will be the first of ten dominant wins in a row, woohoo.

Yet no one can deny Remco has tendency to get dropped in the most important/difficult climbs. Is he a better ITT rider than Primoz, Jonas, Wout or Pogacar? Maybe, but he’s not far above any of them.
Doesn’t really matter though, the Team he rides for can’t support Tour winner.

Sure, but the first one he started for fun and just to prepare. He got dropped at altitude by people who already trained/lived at altitude while he didn't.
He lost Catalunya by 6" to Roglic and made a few mistakes along the way, he was at least as strong as Roglic there and arguably stronger.
Giro he got covid, that was just unfortunate.
Suisse came too early after covid.
Vuelta is more difficult, he didn't have the best prep and he seems to have snapped mentally in that one stage.
I don't think you can call him a bad GC rider based on this. More unlucky and still some things to learn.

As goes for Primoz, who was the teacher for Jonas, but sadly lost the TDF in the last TT in 2020. I felt soooo sad for him. He is a great great rider and he has always respected his teammates. Remco unfortunately comes across as a selfish egoistic cyklist with absolutely no respect at all……and whom ever you are, you do need a whole teams support. To me I feel so sad that Primoz is leaving Jumbo/Visma but on the other hand I would like to see him winning TDF with his new team from 2024 Bora Hans Groe…..ofc I love the great rivalry between Jonas and Tadej and I feel so conflicted now that Primoz is joining TDF on Bora…..I really would love all 3 of them being in the GC but Remco sorry to say, he seems so immature and I really dont want him in the GC …..not my cup of tea….my ❤ belongs to Tadej, Primoz and Jonas in GC hopefully with Primoz 🥇 I think Jonas will feel very conflicted to race against his teacher…..being the humble dane 🇩🇰 that he is…….

There is even a thread on CN titled "Remco is the new Merckx" and the title was there even 3 years ago. Since then it's somewhat tongue-in-cheek. He's the only one to boast about his "numbers", discounts eventual GT winners as "not real contenders" and drops off the radar somewhere in the middle of the race. But there are still Vingegaard, Pogacar and Roglic, and while in an ITT or some one day races he would be the favorite, on any 3 week tour with a lot of climibing he is not. In addition to that, his team is not as good as theirs, and the latest developments with the merger and not and less sponsor money for his team are not good for him as well.

Remco whining at the beginning of the Vuelta didn't do much to dispel the 'prima donna' notions. He needs to 'shut up and RACE'! Let your legs speak for you young man, and all will be fine; stay humble and hungry; keep worrying about "public perception" and other such nonsense, and watch your worst fears come true.

Pretty bad take. Especially for this Channel. What additional proof do you need, that Remco is a one day racer. MAYBE one week… but he’s not winning the tour

He can't even keep up with the high pace of the steep climbs. He gets dropped when the going gets tough

Don't understand the glorious pronouncements about Remco. He's not that good. He totally failed in the Vuelta. He's not up to the same level as Jonas or Tadej or many other riders. He thinks he is better than he has shown.
