This made my day. Thanks for taking another look. You're just in time for the first-year anniversary. It's great to see the hard work paying off. Thanks for the feedback as well. I made lots of notes.
I guess you will like the dungeon banes, but they don't appear in the early game. They act like modificators and can emit toxic atmospheres, force you to loot in order to heal, amplify damage, or have many other effects that require you to adapt tactics and make dungeon crawling more interesting.
I haven't officially announced this yet, but there indeed is a base buidling feature planned. And you are pretty much right. I am about half way through the roadmap, although depending on how things turn out, I could imagine investing more time in development.
Your game looks really promising. Keep up the good work.
Keep up the good work dude.
buying the game rn, really looking forward to what else you might cook up, game looks awesome :)
Wishlisting, gonna see where things go, I love the fluidity of the skills system. A base building/improving system is a great idea, maybe having different rare items to build that might buff different playstyles would be great too! Keep up the good work, looks pretty good to me.
This looks great! Will give it a go!
19:18 "like, zoinks scoob. I'm in an indie game!"
Wow, I didn't notice that at all the first time. Looking at them again after reading your comment, it seems obvious now, jinkies! 😄
😂
07:43 So that's who stole the sweetrolls! It was them Draugr!
Havent played it for a year...gonna' install it again and play today. Thanks for the reminder
This game looks cool, I really wish it had magic though. Magic and magic hybrid playstyles have the most interesting potential in these kinds of games, I find, at least for my taste. It would be what gets me to buy it.
Agree 100%
im guessing more classes will be added eventually... this kind of game almost requires a magic user class...
Magic will supposedly be added.
As an answer to a Review on Steam the dev said:
"Thank you for your review. You have been heard. Magic will be added sooner or later. I know it is not on the roadmap yet, but I am finding a spot :)"
Especially magic/melee hybrids. Pure magic tends to just end up with endless kiting, but combining magic and melee means that you can design melee abilities without them having to make (non-magical) sense.
Man am glad i found this channel! :)
You have yourself i nice little niche here in youtube. You have recommended so many games that I have loved and yet 95 percent of them are never recommended to me by steam. When I want something new and off the beaten path, this is always my first stop.
If this is based on skyrim then why didn't you end up becoming a stealth archer?
Instructions were unclear and he NOT became a stealth archer. My fault.
This game looks great. Thank you for this gem.
I can tell this has a lot of potential, I'll keep my eye on it.
That house and inventory are right out of Skyrim.. Toon--Rim.
Lol, finally something my computer and graphics card from 2015 can handle!
@@Aramakie98 1080 FTW here on a i7-4770k. 😃
I used Skyrim player home mods for inspiration ;) Those people are genius level designers
A channel focuses on indie games and not tripe AAA rubbish. subscribed man great channel
Do you guys remember Dungeon Lords? This game reminded me of this gem. Would be great if the Devs "borrowed" some of the good old stuff 😊
Looking good.
the old bethesda style lockpicking minigame has grown so widespread that the one in this game looks awesome, not to say that it is good or bad, just different and that in itself is an advantage xDD
Agreed! The timer is far too generous though. Gotta fear them lockpick breaks.
Oh! It's Gothic lockpicking. Classic.
I wish more game would borrow Warframe's approach to lockpicking/hacking: simple minigames that are easy when you're focused but very ectic when you're in a rush and getting shot at. The game also gives you options for making it easier or bypassing hacking entirely.
The fighting here vaguely reminds me of Dark Messiah, actually
Yes that was one of the many inspirations.
@@PhodexGames If that's the case, any chance of getting the ol' rope-arrow in here as well? Maybe some more verticality in the levels? A few more dangerous interactables to kill enemies with? I just started up Dark Messiah the other day again, and I can't say I've ever found anything like it. Your title looks interesting, though.
This game looks cool.
looks good fr
The skyrim experience?
It's going to have 21 releases at full price? Damn.
But they'll release a version that runs on your coffee cup, so that's something.
Just wait and see ;)
@@alltat
Good! I hate to have to put my coffee cup down in order to play games. :)
those goblins were just minding their business :(
Well this is going on the wishlist based on whats here. Ideas are solid, lots of nice touches. I do wish it wasn't Sinty assets (they are doing more than most with them, but still they are so over used), I do wish it was Co-op or at least multiplayer planned (I do get how expensive that is, but it'd be a huge plus for this game), and I'd like to see more active powers/moves for players.
But waht is here is still already really solid. Can't wait to see what it looks like another update or two down the road. Its so close to greatness.
Very nice 😮
Wish it was coop 😊
Good ol' circle-strafing the undead swinging a warhammer sideways 5 seconds into the vid "Yup, this is Skyrim melee combat." XD
EDIT: This ain't real Skyrim till I can make a stealth archer, though. ;) Game needs magic and stealth-archery if it really wants to capture the "Skyrim" dungeon-crawling feel.
You can be a stealth archer for sure. Its pretty poweful actually. I guess splatter just didn't try that yet (as he said in the video he's not very good at shooting).
Sounds like the fantasy version of the unibomber. Count me in.
If they add some skills like a forward dash + swing, a dodge while shooting for bow and such this would be even better
There is a stealth dash for when you are crouching. Also very handy for ranged combat.
@@PhodexGames Wishlisted
ThankYou SirSpla77
Looks cool, impressive for low budget. Would love some magic. I don't get thrilled about melee in first person games. I wonder how the archery feels. I'm adding this to the wish list and following.
I have magic on my list, but I rather focus on getting melee and ranged right for now. I don't just want to add magic because its requested and have a few cheap spells. I want to take the time to really create a cool and fun magic system. We already evaluated some interesting ideas on my Discord. You're welcome to share ideas as well :)
I had a quick look at the steam page and UI overhaul is the next thing on the list. SkyUI might only be a placeholder. Might also be that they will just reorganize it to look slightly different.
I am probably going to do a survey to see where people would like the UI to be.
I am planning to swap out the old paper and wood design, but I want to find out what players think about this first.
@@PhodexGames I think that's great :) Personally I don't mind the wood and paper, I think it's charming, but the absolute ideal is to let the player have some options, having a few UI "skins" that the player can select in the options would be a nice touch :) Don't own the game yet but planning on buying it once my next paycheck rolls in :)
i think spending in the tree should unlock combat skills and nots just add numbers to stats
I hope my game can be on this channel one day
This is my MOST ANTICIPATED video of 2024!
If your "home" had some customization options aswell as perhaps an exterior i would seriously lose so much time in this lmao.
I am planning to add base building, although it will likely be an underground base :)
Mobs be better if they move around more in combat
1:24 Qwest 👍
So there's a diving board serving as the foundation to build on top of a bunch of bones? idk sounds sketchy.
This game would be much more fun if it had it's own assets, they will probably never change them though
While there are some people like you that feel very strongly about this (and I can understand it to a degree), 95% of players just don't notice or care at all.
If I would have the money for a full time 3D artist I would do my own unique artstyle, but sadly I don't.
@@PhodexGames Don't worry I get it and it makes sense, I''m just imagining how insane a game like this + graphics of something like witchfire, and or, hear me out, just lethal company, which is worse than the current game, graphics does not matter but uniqueness does. Also multiplayer of course. Honestly the idea for the game is great, being able to "live" in a town and then going dungeon diving to make money and progress, if it was coop or even an MMO it would be insane.
@@lynxlagoon Yes I hear you. Its all just a matter of time and resources.

$32cad is a bit of a deterrent for me. That's way too much for a EA game from a dev with no prior history. The game looks ok, but its lacking substance. Maybe at release it'll be better. But the price should not increase as its already high.
Is it from the same author as The Bloodline? Feels similar, I guess it's mostly the art assets.
Yes we are using similar assets, though the games are pretty different in regards to design philosphy. The Bloodline tries to be a massive RPG and jack of all trades. Raidborn is focused and primarily tries to be a dungeon crawler with RPG elements.
It needs giant spiders, if a game doesnt have giant spiders its not an RPG
i disagree xD screw those things lol
Fax
Diagnosed arachnophobes have few enough games they can play. Also, spiders are just lazy "creepy" enemy design.
@Fallenscion , no, spiders are classical and traditional enemies, we need them, big and small
Or rats of unusual size.
Describing it as a "Skyrim style" game seems very accurate looking at this combat... and if there one thing you don't want to copy from Skyrim is the shit combat Skyrim has, and if this was their overhaul well sorry but this doesn't even cut. Skyrim never was praised by it's combat, and it's probably one of the most modfied things(although sadly people think Souls Like is the only other option)... I would like to see something closer to Kingdoms of Amalur, or something enterily new.
Just because it looks like Skyrim doesn't means it plays much like it.
I am obviously biased, but I can't play Skyrims combat for more than five minutes anymore. I always try to kick and parry and get frustrated it doesnt work :D
As someone learning unity right now, rigging and animation is giving me traumata.
Me too, thats why there will only be biped characters 😂
... I consider a dungeon crawler more like Shining In The Darkness, Mary Skelter trilogy, Grimrock....
"It's Skyrim if you got rid of the open world"
So it's Diablo 1?
Not to be too harsh but yeah its skyrim without the good parts
@@MisogynyMan But also without the bad parts and other good parts.
This is what I wanted Slasher's Keep to be, hopefully there's some good humor in this game too.
The game definetly isn't taking itself too serious :)
That looks nothing like Skyrims UI. Not the stock vanilla game anyway.
The inventory feels very Skyrim/oblivion to me. Health bars and HUD elements are very different but inventory UI looks very similar to ES games.
The font is literally the same as skyrims.
looks like skyUI not vanilla skyrim lol
Its ironic, because Sky UI became so popular people forget its not vanilla, because Sky UI is exactly what I copied ;)
@@PhodexGames lol that's awesome
so its the elder scrolls mobile game but as a PC game
splattercat is like those people on those facebook ads that are terrible at games they make you so frustrated that you just wanna show them how to actually play the game well.
🖤
I played this game 6 months ago. Nothing fancy. Dont expect anything insane. Good for casual gameplay.
So what, it's been a year or so? You STILL cannot loot people properly? From what I'm seeing most items on the location are still props. Remember that skit from Dirt League when 2 players are standing near a literal pile of gold and then proceed to loot 50 coins from it? Pepperridge Farm remembers.
I just did this yesterday while playing Last Epoch. Cave system with a giant pile of gold.
My character takes one tiny artifact "we have better things to do".
@@MisogynyMan Even Gothic 2 did it right. Shame on you, modern devs!
I saw Skyrim Styled and got my hopes up.
Then I saw Procedural Dungeon and my heart sank.
Man I was thinking "This combat is complete ass." and then you said "the combat was just overhauled."
What the heck did the combat look like prior to this "overhaul?" I'm having a hard time imagining combat that's any simpler than this.
This
I really wish when you leave a thumbs down you have to leave the reason why because I wanna know why people thumbs down Splat lol...(or anyone for that matter).
That is all.
IMO they have a long way to go before the combat is good.
You had me until the inventory management part. I'm not sure why devs think gamers want to deal with inventory management, smdh
I am as much a gamer as I am a developer. I mean you have no carry weight, so you won't have to do much inventory management. You can auto sell your loot and there really is not much time spend in the inventory, so I don't see the problem.
@@PhodexGames For what it's worth, I appreciate Inventory Management of all kinds. Some games do it better some do it worse, but Inventory Management does add a bit of depth to gameplay. In my opinion.
You can't really have a looting game without some amount of loot (inventory) management. Some systems are definitely more efficient and less tedious than others; few are genuinely fun and addictive. Interestingly, that is not a copy of Skyrim's original vanilla inventory. It's closer to a copy of one of the better Skyrim mods for inventory. Also, weight management is one of Skyrim's more tedious features so it's nice he doesn't have that.

"It's like Skyrim, except it doesn't do this, and it doesn't do that, and it doesn't do this other thing....!"
this looks fun af wishlsited
Looks decent. Combat looks pretty boring and cheesy though. The fact you can't see your character at all though is a big deal for me. Might put it on the wishlist and keep an eye on it but definitely needs more work to really make it appealing.

I mean, it's a cool game. It looks nice. But if I'm gonna play an FPRPG, I want to be able to dump at least 50 hours into it minimum.
Combat would be boring after one or two dungeons.

The awful inventory system ruins it for me
I hate cel shading, too bad i could use a skyrim style game
so combat basically has: a kick/shield-bash to interrupt, a block, a foreswing, and a backswing, and ranged combat which is just single arrows a from a bow...honestly, this is the combat "overhauled"? it looks REALLY basic and boring tbh. Where's the power hits (hold attack to "charge up" a swing")? where's the special skills and techniques, like a spinning AOE attack that hits everyone around you, or a power strike that shoots off a projectile, or a parry that allows for a high-damage counter if your strike immediately after? All of which you could learna dn unlock through skill books or some other means. Where's the "finishing moves", critical hits, and skillshots (locational damage, like hitting the enemy head or other weak spots with a power strike) to lead into those finishing moves? This is all really rudimentary stuff that should be present in any modern first-person combat.
At least 80% of what you listed is in the game. You can power attack, do power shots, headshots, parries can deal headshot damage etc. etc. For AOE attacks just use two-handed weapons, as they can hit multiple enemies. You just can't expect splatter to introduce the entirety of the game in under 30 minutes.
Skyrim invented first person rpgs
Really wish everyone would stop using these assets haha
Maybe next time, but as a solo dev you need to set priorites.
No! Synty Assets rock for prototyping and even look good enough for a released product. You want better assets start making them and set the price to where Indies can afford them.
@@PhodexGames While I too am not happy to see low-poly assets in yet another otherwise interesting game you do have a point and seem to have your priorities regarding this game set right. TBH, if you are able to rework something when the game is mostly finished I would probably prioritize inventory UI over assets. Just out of curiosity though - is it feasible to upgrade to better assets once the game was fully developed using these low-poly assets? Or would it require reworking too much other stuff?
@@tehvalheru Asset creation, especially for a 3D RPG like Raidborn, is one of the most time-consuming aspects of game development. So it is very unlikely that I am going to swap things out.
I would rather spend more time setting the game apart by other means, or just by improving visual fidelity in general. 95% of players never recognize the assets anyway, and they also don't really care if they do.
Also, when I started using Synty assets for the project, they were nowhere near as popular as they are now.
I get the skyrim buzzword is for the algorithm but eww this isn't skyrim and id argue is better than vanilla skyrim
Yeah this is more of a dungeon crawler like King's Field. Skyrim isn't the only game to ever have dungeons or an inventory system.
Saying "it's got first person combat + an inventory system = Skyrim" would mean Sons of the Forest is like Skyrim but with a smaller world to explore lol
@@Furytearyall have never heard of the word “relatable” have you?
you mean skyrim if it had cancer
25 euros for this is an actual scam. And the way the developer reponds to negative comments on steam.....just no
Saying skyrim like is not a compliment
thank you, im always looking for games like skyrim or morrowind
As TES VI kept me waiting I decided to just make my own TES like game lol.
The story sounds familiar, but the gameplay isn't ringing a distinct bell.
