  • Video covers the installation of a Kuryakyn #1071 Extended Girder Brake Pedal onto my 2011 H-D Road Glide Ultra. This pedal fits on 2008-2013 Touring models with or without hard lower fairings.

Thanks for all your insight and knowledge of this install. I took the liberty to contact Kuryakyn with my question about foot clearance to braked pedal and my foot hitting the adjustment knob of the fairing vent control. The pin which seems difficult to deal with might be better to ream the hole out of the interference fit condition to a clearance fit and slide the pin in from the other direction. Just a thought. Also a line or a mark could be made on the head of the pin indicating to direction of the hole. Video is well directed and concise. Thx Too Tall Don

Great video....but....there's an extremely easy way to install brake pedals. Remove the floorboard itself but leave the brackets intact. Now, loosen the 3 floorboard backplate bolts and the entire assembly (with master rear brake reservoir attached) will tilt outward. You can then easily remove brake levers (easy access to cotter pin, etc.) and install them. Everybody misses this very simple trick that is explained in the service manual. LOL

Hi, 2011 Electra ultra with the kuryakyn chrome girder extended brake lever, no lowers. The clevis pin, reverse the mounting direction of it and slides right in, washer slides on, cotter pin fits and is now on the outer side of the bike instead of inside the bike.

I have the 2010 Ultra limited with my lower fairings on. My boot toe area hits the Fairing adjustment knob which makes it difficult to quickly position my foot for applying the rear brake. I see that if the brake pedal was lower by about one inch it would give me adequate clearance and a good margin of travel for applying the brake. Is the a replacement kit for lowering the position of the brake pedal?

Did you use Locktite on the main bolt for the break arm?

Well, they fixed the 2020 RK so you HAVE to take off the crash bars. Not enough clearance after taking off the heat shield. Damn it.

This is exactly why I didn't buy the kuryakyn.
