I've been some places where it felt a little 'less restful' to park and sleep. And there is the hassle of finding parking where you won't alert the "HOA" in some cases. Overall, I'd say it's not a huge matter, especially depending on you and your rig.

I just started the van life with the crazy rent prices here in socal rn, I just pay someone $300 a month to park in their driveway. The worst part at first was definitely finding low key parking spots overnight, but now I can park without anyone ever bothering me again😁

I fully understand you I just got back on my feet and finally was able to get me out of sleeping in the car and when I say it was one of the worst experiences of my life. The towns I were in (suburbs) really only had meter 2 hour parking and no garages so you gamble every single night just waiting for a cop to knock on m windshield as SOON as I started to fall asleep. They constantly gave me tickets and would threaten to arrest me for vagrancy. It was so demoralizing having to wake up at 3am and gamble again with another spot in the next town. I never hated cops but every interaction I had during my homelessness, they were the most arrogant, rudest, condescending POS I've ever had to deal with. No sympathy for a struggling innocent citizen just trying to get through the night. DAMN I'm rambling 😅😅

We found that buying 95% tint for our windows REALLY helps with the privacy aspect. We hardly ever use window covers, because noone can see inside our van!
And fighting the chaos is tricky, but we found using a paper map and planning our route for the day is really helpful. We can pick our "goal" sleeping location and have back-ups ready before taking off in the morning!
