Take off the three bolts holding the plate on that the brake lever and master cylinder are attached to. Then the entire assembly will swing away from the bike, giving better access to the cotter pin, and you won’t have to remove the crash bar.

Take a look at the 4:40 mark on video. Maybe that’s helps? It’s a tight fit sliding bolt in/out with exhaust.
