    the simpsons is kind of unfair, I mean the basic formula of cartoons is to throw logic and continuity out the window

      +sonicdeatmonkey Ikr, about three quarters of Simpsons or Family Guy episodes discard logic purposely for satire, there are multiple episodes like this, this episode is nothing special.

      @jphzazueta 8 років тому +8

      +Brandon Roberts Yeah, you are right. But there is an episode in which Homer tells Bart and Lisa that cartoons aren't as realistica as reality itself. Then, a second Homer appears outside the house and you can see it trhough the window while Bart, Lisa and "The Original" Homer are inside the house.
      I mean, they make those things in purpose.

      +DANtheMANofSIPA Rick was in the coma for 59 days or so, maybe up to 65 max, which is under 3 months. The main theory about rick surviving was that he was taken care of by a woman who didnt leave her job as a nurse at the hospital. Its a mini series (like the plane one for fear the walking dead) and is called 'The Oath". She supplies rick with the IV bags and what not to survive and either dies or leaves before he wakes up.

    Lost questions answered:
    -Polar bears were kept in the zoo on the other island and were trained to adapt in captivity (explained in the special features)
    -island is underwater because it is the island in the parallel universe (we find out this is purgatory) so that they do not crash on it and arrive at LAX safely.
    -Ben kills Jacob as a test between Jacob and his brother to see if his brother was ever able to kill him through a "loop hole" (Ben). Jacob temps Ben to kill him as his brother has now won.
    They were all answered but as I've rewatched the series many times I'm not surprised people have missed the "plot holes"

      +2012svk sadly it's left to your own interpretation. However I believe that they didn't die in the plane crash and that all the events on the island were real. I believe that the purgatory universe was created to explain the links between characters to show why the island needed them to all be on that plane. Because as Jacob said, they are all connected to one another because they NEED each other, like how in the purgatory universe they NEEDED each other to remember

    Didn't do your research, did you? Angel's return was in fact explained in the spin-off later on. He has a significant role in the apocalypse which is why he needs to be..... alive so it can happen. This is why he was resurrected by the powers that be, to fulfill a prophecy.

      +MinimiMax That's the problem though, if a plot hole had to be fully explained in a "spin-off" then it's still a plot hole. It shouldn't take an alternate series or show in the same universe to explain a problem left by the previous one. And even if they explained it in a spin-off, it still means the main series has a plot hole

      What I'm saying is this. Let's say Lost had a sequel series that fully explained all the plot holes from the first series. That doesn't then mean that the first series didn't have some gaping plot holes. Same goes for other series' if a secondary series explains a plot hole in a previous one, that doesn't mean the original doesn't have a plot hole. Plot holes must be resolved in their respective shows, otherwise they still exist

    Jesus Christ. The Man in Black's loophole was the realization he could kill Jacob through the manipulation of others using the manifestations of parts of their own lives coupled with his ability to masquerade as individuals only after they have been deceased. The Man in Black was able to con Ben Linus into doing the deed by using Ben's own lifelong devotions to Jacob mirrored against his own life failures that directly resulted from said devotion, and the con was brilliantly completed by using the image of non other than John Locke, the man Ben Linus felt the most guilt over having personally wronged (as well as the brief time he used Ben's daughter Alex for the same purpose). However Jacob had anticipated this loophole's exploitation, which is the reason most of the show even happened, most of it was Jacob's Failsafe plan being enacted. As for the polar bears and the Ajira flight members going back in time and why the "island" was underwater and pretty much any lazy complaint that people love to toss around because watching the show is just too hard, just watch the show.

    • @spookycookies19
      @spookycookies19 8 років тому +31

      My god the polar bear complaint is the best way to tell if someone hadn't actually watched the show. The show gives TWO extremely specific reasons why there are polar bears on the island. They (Dharma) first wanted to understand how the island's unique electromagnetic anomalies would affect certain characteristics of the polar bear's life, and a secondary use was for them to be kept underneath the Orchid station to turn the frozen wheel if the island was ever in danger.

    • @guin705

      I know right?! The show is amazing!

    • @sonicboom428
      @sonicboom428 8 років тому +3

      +spookycookies I know this is unrelated, but reading about a polar bear kept under a station to turn a frozen wheel if the island was ever in danger sounds really funny out of context.

    • @spookycookies19
      @spookycookies19 8 років тому +2

      +David Junco You are right that it does sound ridiculous. But it's not something the show just throws at you. There's a lot of buildup by a lot of smaller pieces of the puzzle eventually adding up to "there's a chamber underneath the Orchid station that contains a wooden wheel that is used to move the island that the Dharma Initiative employs polar bears to turn in emergencies". And luckily the writers had the sense to never actually show a polar bear turning a giant wheel. It was only ever suggested by empirical evidence, they didn't have to literally show it. And the actual turning of the wheel occurred only one time in the actual show (but like twice in mythology), and the one scene was used as a dramatic tool to humanize Ben Linus, one of the (at that point) villains of the story. What should have been an absurd scene was smartly written for dramatic purposes.

    • @spookycookies19
      @spookycookies19 8 років тому +9

      +David Junco I'm extremely familiar with this show, and it's why when I see "plot holes" like as presented by watchmojo I can confirm it is absolutely 100% lazy bullshit complaints by people who don't actually know what they are talking about. It's actually depressingly comical how little they are trying here to present "plot holes" in Lost. The script reads like they looked at someone's "I hate Lost" thread for 30 seconds and said "okay this is enough".

    FYI there are legitimate plot holes in LOST, but you didn't actually mention any. And there is a very clear difference between plot holes and plot element/mystery.
    mystery: polar bears. Why were they on the island? Where did they come from? Addressed in season 3 (which was in 2007).
    plot hole: Jacob, Ben, and Richard. In season 3, Ben explains that he's taking Locke to see Jacob in front of everyone in the others' camp - Richard says nothing, even looks shocked. But in season 5 Ben explains that he was always told he had to wait to see Jacob by Richard (never having gotten to meet him) and Richard says that nobody sees Jacob unless summoned and only he knows where to find him. These two events don't actually add up and mesh with each other, which makes the inconsistency a plot hole.
    Definition of a plot hole: "A plot hole or plothole is an obvious mistake or missing element in the plot of a fictional work, such as a book, play, film, or TV show. These include such things as illogical or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline."

    • @aceotaku
      @aceotaku 8 років тому +1

      +Damon242 basically, by plot hole here they mean 'shitty ass writing' the rela plot hole involves the reveal of who the villain is and how he manipulated people to come to the island by somehow leaving the island and shapeshifitng into their loved ones. why does he do this? so he can use them to...leave the island. which he already left to begin his retarded ass plan to escape the island he alreayd elft and then soemhow went bakc to for some reason.

      Ben was always jealous why Locke was so special, like he was on a wheelchair and the next moment he was walking, while Ben,unlike the other survivors, was diagnosed with a tumor, while survivors like rose and Locke were healed, Sun got pregnant and etc. Ben PRETENDED that he was the only one who could talk to Jacob while in fact it was Richard. when Ben takes Locke to the cabin were he thought Jacob might be, he PRETENDED that he was talking to Jacob and that he could see him, while in fact he was just as surprised as Locke when the room started shaking, and got even more jealous when he found out that "Jacob"asked Locke for help(when Locke heard the help me thing) that's why he shot Locke the first time. he was never able to see Jacob or talk to him, he was just pretending to bc he was jealous of Locke. it might even be the MIB who was in that cabin that night since the mib embodied Jack's father when Hurley first saw the cabin. so eventually I believe that's no plot hole:)

    • @Damon242

      aceotaku there wasn't any off-island shapeshifting.

    The loophole that got Jacob killed was quite simply that the Man in Black couldn't kill him, they couldn't harm one another, so by getting Ben to do it for him, he found the loophole. The island is at the bottom of the ocean because that was the flash sideways, a parallel story line where the island sank in the 50s after Jughead exploded, therefore couldn't have caused Flight 815 to crash.

      Exactly! While the show was pretty convoluted and had a very messy plot (messy as in many timelines, character connections and rules), it was still easy to follow.
      Proof: I have only watched it once, could have answered every question they brought up.
      Once of the only things they could have brought up was Walt, and the reason he went from being the most important thing in the show to nothing was because the actor grew too fast and they had to write him out

It is simply wrong to put them on the list

      Actually, that isn't the same thing. For starters, the character whom most of us knew as Seymour Skinner was apparently not the real deal, but in Curse of the Flying Hellfish from a few seasons prior, it showed his supposed father Sheldon Skinner, who looked just like him.

      They actually did make a reference to this in another episode. The one were Lisa cat Snowball 2 dies and then she keeps adopting other cats who all die in freak accidents. At the end the crazy cat lady throws a cat at Lisa that looks exactly like Snowball 2 and Lisa even decides to call the cat Snowball 2 (thus making the whole cats dying plot-line moot). Skinner happens to be walking by at that exact moment and mentions that the new cat looking the same and being named the same was very convenient and then Lisa makes a quip to the effect "Is it, Principal Tazerion" and Skinner visually reacts and then says that he will just move along.

    As a fan of Lost I will admit it left some questions unanswered. I did love the series as I enjoy very complex storylines involving paradoxes time travel and the supernatural. However all the questions posed in this video can be answered easily and were very obvious in the show.
    1. In the first time shift everyone who was still on the island went back in time. When the Ajira flight arrives those who needed to go back in time were sent and those who stayed in present time were needed there. The whole idea is that it's fate or destiny. That's why Desmond wakes up on the island without ever even trying to get back.
    2. The loophole was Ben. The whole thing was The Man In Black could not kill Jacob. He said one day he would find a loophole. he did he convinced Ben to kill Jacob for him. Simple.
    3. The island was underwater cause it was in a flash sideways. In a reality where the bomb goes off so the island sinks. Therefore the plane never lands. Yes it is a paradox however it is not a plothole.

    The "plot holes" you bring up about Lost aren't even plot holes. They are answered. Polar Bears were brought there by the Dharma Initiative. Kate and Sawyer are held in their cages for several episodes in season 3. The "loop hole" that the Man in Black got through to kill Jacob was by having another pair of hands do it. He could not kill them but he figured another person might. Thus he manipulated Ben to kill him. And the island is under water at the start of season 6 because that was an alternate reality (or rather purgatory) where the island made it's way under water. Either through Dharma experiments or what not, but regardless the island is under water so that the plane lands safely. But that isn't even a plot hole because it really wasn't important to the alternate storyline. But it is easier to say plot holes than actually think about it right? I will admit Lost has more than a few plot holes, but if you are going to bring up a series for having plot holes, don't bring up said "plot holes" that are actually explained.

    • @7DragonEyes7

      Joke aside the top 9 was actually plot hole and 1 was just we want answers. A plot hole is a clear contraction, not an absence of answer. Everything unanswered was good in Lost the second they started answering that's when the plot hole started.

    IIRC, the discrepancy of Warp 10 in the Star Trek universe is that, sometime in the TNG era, the warp scale is adjusted, with 10 being where it becomes theoretically impossible to go past (via warp, anyway). this is why in Kirk's era, you hear them mention all the way up to warp 13 or so. warp was measured on a different scale in that point in time.

    All the 'plot holes' listed for Lost were actually not plot holes, since Lost answered nearly all (if not all) of the questions that they posed within the series. The show didn't get more jumbled up and bad over time, it increased it's complexity (which confused some people) but in reality, the show answered the questions they posed. The questions listed in the video all had answers, which would have been obvious to someone who watched the show. The island was under water because the jughead went off and sunk it in the flash sideways, making it unable for the island to crash flight 815. The loophole that killed Jacob was that him and the MIB couldn't kill each other, so the MIB manipulated Ben to kill Jacob.

  • @TubeSteak

    on LOST: the man in black couldn't kill Jacob himself, so he had Ben do it. that's the loop hole. polar bears are on the island because the darma initiative wanted to test the islands weird levels and powers, and see if an animal from an opposite climate would survive on it. (explained in a DVD epilogue). and the islamd was underwater at the start of season 6 because...uh.... hmm...

    There are literally 0 plot holes in LOST, none. If you didn't understand something then rewatch the show because I guarantee that there is either an outright explanation for it or a thematic implication that can be inferred from the course of the show. One of the reasons why lost was able to reach the heights that it did was because it didn't pander to the fools. The polar bears were from the Dharma initiative, certain characters got sent back to the past because they were the ones that were supposed to be there (jacob decided just as he decided practically everything that happened), the loophole that killed jacob was just that it was someone other than the man in Black who was incapable of doing it (the entire thing that Jacob was trying to prove was that the good in people will eventually triumph over the bad in them, having the person who at that time embodied the bad in humanity kill him was extremely symbolic). If you think that there is any plot hole in LOST it's because of your own attention span, not the show.

      thekillers1stfan A. If she did remember why wasn't she like "he literally kidnapped my daughter" and B. If you gonna say she didn't remember that feels like the fans writing their own explanations, it's pretty clear the writers forgot or else they would have just had him wear a mask when he did it. Also there is never really any big reveal to the French lady that it was Ben who kidnapped her daughter (which there would have been if the writers intended on making it so she just forgot)

    • @thekillers1stfan
      @thekillers1stfan 7 років тому +8

      Rousseau isn't exactly the best at communicating, she is literally crazy. The fact is, she told them that Ben was an Other and that they shouldn't trust a word he says. That implies that she knows exactly who he is. Not to mention faces get blurred in memories that far back, then you also add ageing and the fact that it was dark the entire time and yeah, it's completely plausible that she didn't recognize him. There was no big reveal at that time because it wouldn't have fit into the second season as well as Sayid figuring it out by digging up the body of the man he was impersonating. They did have a big reveal of sorts later on when it's revealed that he is raising Alex as his daughter. I don't know what else you would've wanted.

      I also had some inquiries about this series...
      1) This one isn't too big of a deal, but I was kind of fixated at how at times when it was raining and that whenever there were torches lit up, I would have anticipated for them to burn out because of the rain. But again, I don't think this had to do with anything of the series.
      2) The fact that people that people could see the dead people. For example, Hurley would see many people that died throughout the series. I didn't understand why he could see that, and if him, why could nobody else see the dead?
      3) How Desmond could be immune to extreme levels of magnetism and how he could foresee Charlie's death.
      4) The people that were chosen were taken back into the past while others did not. However, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, and Hurley were in their present year back at home. When they came back to the island, they somehow got themselves back at 1977 like the rest of the people that were on the island. Maybe it was the island only that could go back to 1977 but how did the Ajira flight back to the island eventually end up going to that year when they didn't when they were elsewhere?

      Maybe Sheldon had a bad experience with cats at some point and didn’t want to be around them until his frame of mind was otherwise. Another possible answer is that Sheldon saw himself tolerating Leonard’s other break up habits as enough, and a cat was where he drew the line in the sand.

      +Dhairo Robayo Yeah, i don't understand why so many complain about lost. I think they wrapped up most plot points that mattered. The ones watchmojo brought up were dumb as hell. LIke the time travel. A show doesn't have to explain every little fucking thing.

    • @bkdmode
      @bkdmode 8 років тому +2

      +Dhairo Robayo I agree that this video's Claire Bennett "plot hole" is rather lame, however, the new show Heroes Reborn does have a dozy of a plot hole... Claire was killed and there is even video of her dead body in the last episode. How is this possible? Claire survived a nuclear blast in the original series and her uncle, who had her powers also survived himself going nuclear because he had her power. Sylar could not be killed because he had Claire's powers too. So how is it that Claire died in something her father survived? True they have 10 more episodes to explain this but that only raises another question, her adoptive Dad knew her power even if she appeared to be dead she was merely immobilized because some object was in her head and once it was removed she would revive.
      What the hell? If they can get out of the obvious contradiction and plot hole, I would be impressed.

    The polar bear was brought to the island by The Dharma Initiative. Because what intrigued them so much about the island was its magnetic force, they brought an animal that lives at one of the two magnetic extremes on Earth (those being the North Pole and South Pole).

    Well you're wrong about the Friends plothole:
    Through Thanksgiving flashbacks we know that Ross and Carol met and started dating in sophmore year of college. It is never stated that they were never "on a break" in that time. Which could have provided a window for Ross to sleep with the cleaning lady. Furthermore, at the end of the episode in question Ross says that the cleaning lady came onto him, this could have happened freshmen year, and Ross being the goofy nerd he is could have very well been unable to preform and actual lied about sleeping with her in order to save face.
    Moreover, there's way bigger inconsistencies in the series you could examine. Like Pheobes birthday, The Gheller grandparents, Ross's birthday, Rachel's birthday, pretty sure Chandler mentions a sister in season 1 then never again. their apartment numbers switch from 4 and 5 to 19 and 20 ....

      MIB and Jacob can't kill eachother or the candidates. Anyone else can.

    It seems like you guys only watched Lost first season, and then some stupid told u about the rest. They did answered why there were Polar Bears in the Island. And the statue under the water was like basically the plot of season 6, the Flashsideways. Only some of them were transported to 1977 bc the rest were dead or not on the island anymore (and the Others were actually there in that time)

    Lost has no plot holes, Man in Black/Smoke Monster disguise himself as John Locke. Seeing that the Man in Black nor Jacob can hurt each other Smoke Monster/ Duguise as John Locke who is the current leader of the other ordered or pressured him to kill Jacob. The Polar bear is on the Island because the Dharma Initiative were doing experiments on different kind of animals. The Island is under water because it starts up the formula of flash sideways showing that the island is under water because when Juliet blew up the mini jughead it create an alternate timeline, thus showing us what would have happened if the plane had never crash. Simple. And oh, the five that disappeared from the planes where Jacob's Candidates.

    You left out 3 great examples: 1) The Unkillable Russian (The Sopranos), 2) What happened to the big mutant eggs (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and 3) where is Victor Zsasz (Gotham). All three had the potential to pay off, and didn't...although there's still a chance with the latter.
    I'm giving one "bonus," although there's still a chance the show (Once Upon a Time) will come through on this: Where is the Lady of the Lake? We've seen the dried-up lake, and King Arthur sent her son Lancelot in search of her...and we haven't heard about her since.

    I object not to Doctor Who's inclusion in this list but to the very minor plot hole that was showcased here. There are much bigger plot holes in the series. For example, the Doctor's age which is only ever slightly written off by the Doctor once stating that he lost track. This is just the first that comes to mind. Anyone remember the reapers from the Ninth Doctor's era? You know, the ones that Never show up again despite the many paradoxes later created. (ex: The Year That Never Was, or the second Big Bang) Again, just one of many. I wouldn't be surprised if WatchMojo made a top 10 list of plot holes just from Doctor Who. Though I love the show, I have to admit, that over 50 years its many writers and producers have accidentally created many plot holes.

  • @PotterBrony82
    @PotterBrony82 7 років тому +12

    just cause you don't understand doesn't make the entire series of Lost one big plot hole. confusing, absolutely. did they leave some stuff hanging? yeah. but near as I can tell there was only one plot hole in the examples given. only the candidates got transported to 1977 from the ajira flight, sun wasn't a candidate cause jacob stated to kate becoming a mother caused him to cross her name out. he didn't want mothers to become the next guardian. that doesn't explain why kate was transported back though so yeah that is a bit of plot hole i'll admit to that one.
    the others are explainable, the polar bear came from the drama initiative, jacobs mother forbid them from harming one another so they were incapable of doing so thats the loophole. the island is under water cause most of it was destroyed in the past caused the rest to fall off into the ocean, not to mention that was purgatory and the rules there are a bit more lax.

    • @heisenberg3082
      @heisenberg3082 3 роки тому

      Almost all the characters in Lost were candidates, excluding extras, characters like Lapidus and characters that were never on the Island, Locke’s ex. It’s just that later on their names were crossed out. Also, the island was under water at the beginning of season 6 cos that was in the flash sideways world, purgatory, so it could’ve been in any timeline. The island could’ve submerged because that might have been 1000s of years later, another way u might interpret it is that some things weren’t real in the flash sideways, Jack’s son so it didn’t matter whether the island was underwater or not, the directors were just saying that the island was irrelevant because that characters never crashed, this is in the flash sideways

Also, if I recall, as least one person knew what country she was planning to go to. Dexter practically set the kid up to be a necessary kill.
      With that in mind, when Hannah asked Harrison if he wanted ice cream after finding out Dexter was "dead", all I could think was "That scoop is going to have antifreeze in it."

    Angel's return was explained though. The spinoff clearly says that he was brought back by the Powers That Be because he was prophesied to play a key part in the future apocalypse. And even if you discount the spinoff, BtVS has the First Evil tell Angel he brought him back to, well, do evil. The spinoff made clear that the First Evil lied, but even if you never watched the spinoff, there's still an explanation on BtVS.
    But Angel suddenly being too weak to break a thin metal cage is definitely a plot hole.

    Concerning the LOST plot holes-
    1. The polar bears were on the island because the original Dharma Initiative brought them there for experimentation.
    2. Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sayid were all touched by Jacob while off the island. They were transported to 1977 after flight 216 to unite/retrieve Sawyer, the other person touched and watched by Jacob.
    3. The loophole was that the man in black could not kill Jacob himself, so he had to get one of Jacobs followers to do it. He found Ben the easiest to manipulate.
    4. At the start of season 6, the island is underwater because viewers are meant to believe that this scene is taking place in the alternate/false reality where the island had been blown up by the H-bomb in season 5.

    Answers: Why do only certain characters travel back to 1977? Because if they didnt recreate flight 815 in flight 316, the results would be unpredictable. Hence it didnt totally work. What was the loophole that killed Jacob? It was basically the whole manipulation of Locke and Ben by the Smokie. Man in Black / Smokie used the skipping island, plus Locke's psyche, to convince him he was special and to convince Alpert he was the Others' leaders. Then he could see Jacob, imitating Locke, and convince Ben to kill Jacob. (The loophole is basically all of Smokie's interactions with Locke and Ben from Walkabout to the end of season 5 when Jacob dies.) Jacob says it directly to the MiB (as Locke): "I see you found your loophole." Why was the island underwater at the start of Season 6? Because in the "sideways" universe the Losties played out their fantasies while they waited to find each other to move in the after-life. Obviously one of their fantasy scenarios is the island sank. There ARE some plot-holes in Lost, but those three were not.

    Lost is a mystery show, which means you have to seek out clues to understand the whole series. I didn't understand everything the first time I saw every episode, but when you rewatch it with the ending in mind, you notice even clues about the ending in every season including the first season and even the first episode. The writers admit the whole show wasn't planned out from the first season, but if the writers never admitted that, there is an argument that it looked like they did plan it out.. For those who have never seen Lost, you may say why would I want to rewatch a show to understand it. The show is so well written with well written characters and fun mythology that you would want to rewatch it. If you are a fan of twists, humor, emotional scenes, and creepiness, this is the show for you. The reason this show gets so much flac for it's ending is because so many people were into it emotionally and you can't satisfy everyone with an ending.

      That is just what Angel believed in the Buffy episode Amends. It is never actually confirmed that the First Evil brought him back. Buffy even said in the same episode that Angel does not actually know that. I"ve seen every episode multiple times and it never actually says for sure how Angel came back.

    • @rochey1010
      @rochey1010 7 років тому +3

      That's not true. In 'amends' the Christmas episode the first evil 'Jenny Calender' keeps appearing to Angel and specifically says when it's trying to get him to fall off the wagon and drink human blood again "this is why we brought you back" and that was the first evil appearing to the characters for the first time. Angel was brought back by the first evil and the only reason Buffy said that to Angel is because she never saw the visions Angel did, and later on in the episode Buffy goes to the Christmas tree farm and we see the devilish version of the first evil reveal itself to Buffy as a little taster for later on, and then disappear. it was confirmed how Angel returned and it's not a plothole.

    • @mistyhustad7121
      @mistyhustad7121 7 років тому +2

      Actually the first evil was taunting Angel in effort to get him to kill himself. Doesn't mean anything it said was true. It is even said in later episodes of Angel and Buffy that the first evil was trying to get Angel to kill himself because it knew Angel would be a powerful champion for the Powers That Be. In fact if you watch Angel at all it generally becomes accepted that the first evil was lying and probably didn't bring Angel back at all because it doesn't make any sense that the first evil would bring Angel back and then try to kill him because he would work for the Powers that be. Even in the season finale of Buffy, Angel and Buffy say that the first evil tried to kill Angel. I was at the very end of Amends that Buffy said she didn't believe what the First said and didn't believe that the first brought Angel back. Later on Angel definately questions whether the first brought him back as well. Just because the first said it, it does not confirm it and since later on the main characters are still questioning how Angel was brought back, it was in fact never actually confirmed.

    • @jackolynnblack5626
      @jackolynnblack5626 7 років тому +3

      Yeah I actually thought that not only was it believed the first might be lying, I thought later on it was generally excepted the first was lying. It was said a couple times in Buffy that the firs was just trying to get Angel to kill himself. Besides why would anyone assume that because the first said something it was true. You see the first out right lie in season 7 more than once. Just because the first was able to appear to Angel in visions doesn't mean it's telling the truth.

      The writers left some questions for the viewers to theorize and answer. It's possible Sun didn't transport because see might not have been a candidate, or that they didn't perfectly recreate the flight. But I believe it was because Locke didn't visit her (per Jin's request). He needed to make a connection with them to bring them back. In a way, he was their constant like how Penny saved Desmond simply by talking on the phone.
