Completely agree with the comment about condension - this review is wholly objective and reflects my own experiences with this tent - I like the low weight, easy set up and ability to set up with inner and fly together - but the condension issue has lead me to stop using it unless the nights are very warm - ie mid summer in a dry climate.
I'm sort of glad you agree, it's just a shame isn't it! Almost the ideal tent!
I have used this tent for six years (I also have a laser comp) The weights quoted by Nordisk EXCLUDE guys, pegs and bags! Actual trail weight is some 120g more than stated. I've never had condensation issues inside the inner - but the fly is always drenched unless it's windy. It's a much warmer tent than the laser comp (less mesh) so you can use a lighter sleeping bag. It is a delicate tent the - ULW (carbon fibre version) especially so. The footend does not shed rain/snow well and will pool there no matter how tight you pitch it. But I do like it - especially its quick pitching.

As you asked about MSR. I used to use the MSR Hubba NX 1 person tent. Very light at 1kg and lovely materials . . . .but very small inside and very small in the vestibule.
I sold it and bought the MSR 1P Elixir Tent. A bit heavier at about 1.5 or so KG. Much cheaper to buy mind . . .and the interior is bigger and the vestibule is much bigger, significantly so. MSR themselves say that the Elixir is a more durable tent. Never any condensation.
I was brought here by my interest in the Telemark as a lighter option but am very happy I found this review now because Ill steer clear of the 1P Telemark

I've had a F10 Helium 2 for 3 years now. Still very light, but more room (in reality it's 1.5 person). No condensation issues, and pretty cheap. It's also withstood some pretty foul weather.
I have this exact tent. Condensation was OK is summer (Lofoten Islands, 15C), but terrible in winter (Swedish High Coast, -5C). Another annoyance is that the footprint does not connect directly to the rain fly. I now use a Hilleberg Niak, heavier but much less condensation in the inner.
I think thats the trouble, they're ace when the conditions are right, but UK only has those conditions about 2% of the time..!
Interesting, thanks for the review. A word on the MSR tents - I used a Hubba Hubba NX on my LeJog this year, superb tent space wise, little or no condensation due to large mesh panels on inner tent BUT - cold tent! I was absolutely freezing - in June! Had to buy a second sleeping bag but was still cold. As you say, finding the perfect tent is so hard 🙃 Your dog is identical to one we had when I was a kid, lab x springer, nice dog 🐶❤️
I've got the ProAction one man tent from Argos. Was £25 about 10 years ago I think and still going strong. Used it all over Dartmoor and Wales and never had much of a problem with it. Wouldn't do well on Everest but great for lightweight camping!
I used one of those too in the early 2000s. They were great. I think I paid £15 and I bought a spare in case of a failure of the special shaped pole on the original. The spare is still unused! About 2kg and I don’t recall any condensation problems.

I have had the zephyros 2 for about 5 or 6 years now and I'm well impressed with it, 2 doors means you can vent it well but cooking is always an issue if the weather isn't great.
Picked up the TN Laser Photon 1 just before lockdown for the bargain price of £122, yet to test it properly but so far so good, sub 1kg and well built, I can actually get a basic overnight setup into a 12l running bag! The fabric seems a bit fragile though...
Matt Baker I bought a laser years ago at a similar price, massively good value for that sort of cost!
@@JBMountainSkills not too sure what the difference between the Laser Comp and the Laser Photon are but at the time TN had it for £370, no brainer, if I don't get on with it I'll sell it on easily. 👍

My Quechua Quickhiker is 2.2 kg and I got it in a sale for £60. It’s served me well for 8 years.
Take it to a repair shop and get most of the inner cut out and replace it with mesh. That should fix the condensation.
Mesh inner won't reduce condensation, as most condensation forms on the flysheet, inner is breathable.
Mesh inner makes it more likely you will get a wet sleeping bag as condensation will drip through the mesh more easily than through a solid fabric inner.
Shame you didn't show the tarp feature, I think it's one of the best things about the tent! It's really useful to cook under and gives some protection from the rain whilst cooking. It also means you can keep the door open all night which helps with ventilation and reduces condensation.
I don't faff with taking the corner poles out though, just take 2 short sections of pole from another tent.
It's always too flipping windy here when I'm out camping!
Interesting Jez. I have a Zephros 2, but have moved to a Helm 1. Much more headroom for me at 6’4”. Not so lightweight but going for comfort, and can still pack down small

When I was looking into this tent I found they recommended lifting with a stick the ends to allow more air flow to fix the condensation issue.
Worth a try I guess. 🤷♂️

Check out the fjällräven abisko light 1 pretty similar (not as light I think) but way better ventilation.

Looks really interesting I am tempted by this tent
I have the 2 LW and its not much heavier but so much more roomy and higher inside so you can sit up in it and I am tall. Condensation an issue but a careful pitch leaves small gaps at the bottom of the fly and I cut down some bicycle spokes off a broken wheel and bent them to a V shape at both ends - so I can prop the central bit of each side of the fly a couple of inches off the ground and can prop the door open by a couple of inches when unzipped from the top. Every little helps. I am thinking about getting a company to replace a much bigger section of the inner door with mesh too - just havent got around to it. I wish it had proper end vents like the laser competition. Such a shame as Nordisk could have the perfect tent and we shouldnt have to customise it just to make it work properly...

First the pitch, I found the right way to pitch it leaves a small arch gap at the bottom of the fly on each side - you can see it on a couple of pics here. The way I was pitching before brought the fly to the ground and made the ends sag against the inner too. Then I added some props I made from spokes from a broken bike wheel I was stripping down - they weight 4g each and can either prop the gap under the fly higher as shown in one pic or prop the door gap wider if only partially unzipped. Dont know how much difference they make as havent had chance to use them yet but every little helps!

Do love the lightness and space in this tent but also annoyed by the condensation,. I’ve mostly solved it by putting a stone under each corner pole to lift the fly off the ground slightly which seems to give the slight air flow needed. But does seem bit ridiculous this is needed in a £300 tent, did they not test them!

I’m interested in photography, and have been researching getting a tent (& a few other bits) to enable me to go on little trips staying out over night to get sunset & sunrise, and double my chances of getting good light. I’ve come to this conclusion after following several photographers UA-cam videos. One of which is Thomas Heaton who has the telemark, and in one of his videos he commented about the condensation. Another photographer is using the Tarptent Scarp 1 and seems to be happy with it.
There seem to be a number of light weight tents from US companies using DCF material that seems to offer some advantages in condensation (& weight) but most are single wall, so still suffer condensation issues.
Tarptent is one who offer light weight DCF tents with an inner though. The down side is that they are not cheap. They do not offer the Scarp 1 in DCF, but they do offer several other models - the DCF versions having ‘Li’ added to the end of their names. The Stratospire Li is the one I have on my shortlist after a fair bit of research, not ordered yet though.

Scarp is really versatile too - you can get a mesh or solid inner, or both so use one in summer and the other in winter, and the cross poles make it indestructable in wind (its very good even without them) but again you only take them if needed based on conditions.
This tent looks really similar to the abisko light 1 from fjällräven
Edit: The abisko light seems to have better ventilation because it has extra vent openings at the Front and the back

I was considering this tent for the 630 mile South West Coastal Path next year. Seeing your great view was convincing me more, then you said the dreaded “Condensation” word..lol. So I ask myself,do I really want to put up with condensation for a couple of months, for the sake of a lighter tent. Also, folding this up every morning wet ,then using again later after many miles walking,while it probably still damp does not thrill me at all. Thanks for detailed preview,it’s really helpful 👏. have you found a more suitable tent since this video?
Glad it was useful! I haven't replaced it with anything better. I tried a Sierra Designs Studio, but that's not a tent I'd recommend for UK use, sadly.

I have had mixed experience with it .
I done an 8 day trip in Sweden 2 years ago and the tent performed flawlessly, not more condensation than I get in my 2 man hilleberg.
then I used in in the alps on a really wet and stormy night. there I had bad condensation which ruined my sleep.
my afterthought was that I had been lazy with the set up there . I dunno tho .
I have used it a few times since with mixed results . sometimes lots of condensation and sometimes nothing . I have not really figured out what I am doing differently on the times I get a lot.
mine also came with 3 extra guy ropes ,the 2 for the sides and one for the door when you set it up like a tarp .
they were in the little bag with the repair stuff , you need to attach them yourself

Hello! Thank you for your review :) Could you give as an example a tent which is better about condensation, from your experience. And which tent that you've used has the best ventilation?
The other tent I've used which is very similar in design is the Terra Nova Laser Comp, which has it's flaws, but not so much condensation.
I’m nearly as tall as you and am interested in the TN Laser Comp for solo trips. I was led to believe (without having tried yet) that I’d be jamming head and feet at the extremes of the the inner tent length but I’m getting the impression from you that it’s not necessarily the case?
There's not a lot of spare room at either end to be honest. I never felt it was an issue though, my head or toes weren't pressing on the ends.
