Yeah, I don’t know what it is. In 2003-2004 I overheard my newly found girlfriend saying that this guy Maynard’s voice makes her panties wet. I was super insecure and pissed off, like who the fuck is Maynard. Now 17 years later I get it. My panties aren’t wet but I get it.

    "By And Down The River"
Moving in and out of the shadow
It's no easy mission, holding on to how I picture you
    Showing only bits and pieces
'Til the light betray you and your empty allocution
Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility
Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility
Searching your eyes for a hint or trace of it
    Searching your eyes for humility

    Showing only bits and pieces

Float the Piper by and down the river
Carcass crippled underneath the pounding waves of adoration
Pied Piper, float on down the river
Bloated carcass crippled me, the weight of adoration

My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Darius, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life

      I know it's been over a year...
      But for what it's worth,
People that appreciate tool and a perfect circle, appreciate it in a deeper way than people who aren't really that into it.
Fans like us put a lot of emotional energy into listening to and absorbing those beautiful songs and beautiful messages from Mr Maynard.
I heard the 13th step when they played it live when they toured when the album was released, I really looked up to Maynard at that time, I hang on to every word he said.
And during that show he told me that this album " the 13th step"
That this album goes out to anybody that's ever lost anybody to addiction.
So my friend, I believe that these songs are for you. I hope you explore them more deeply now that you know that.
Peace in your heart my friend, move forward into the chaos, and change what needs to be changed, and make right what needs to be made right.
      Hope you prosper. 🤘💀👍🖖

@@zacharykeffer9358 I shared the story of my mom dying on several different tool and Gojira videos.
On the comments section, and I didn't post it exactly the same on every video, but it was similar. But that's because that all the different songs and different ways reminded me something about her, so I would comment.
But perhaps he is going through the guy that committed suicide, maybe he is going through his entire music catalog and listening and trying to learn more about the mental state of their hurt friend.

    • @olly8453
      @olly8453 3 роки тому

@Verne Dimatteo You've made a lot of asinine assumptions there. You can disagree with my opinion all you want, but at least try and represent it accurately.
I don't want a band to conform to my musical tastes, I want the band to freely express themselves; but that doesn't mean I have to like what they've produced. For the record, I do like this album, but it's a clear departure from the type of sound APC has produced prior, and IMO sounds almost like a different band; all the qualities I loved in previous APC albums are mostly missing in this new Album.
It's a fool's errand to try and disabuse people of their musical tastes.

    I'm in love~
I've been feeling really lost without music of late. Rn the songs I do have on list I've worn out completely so it's just bland and monotonous with no heart left to give. I also had a moment when I deleted all of my music having been fed up with certain people and things in my life that I was about ready to kill that part of me for good despite the fact music has always been my life whether listening or creating. I'm really glad I remembered A Perfect Circle and looked up some of their songs to come across this. It's like a dark haze that surrounded me was lifted, and a wave of euphoric nostalgia that only comes in holy reverence of what makes us human inside washed over me to survive in a clock work orange society run by big brother and the machine.

Absolutely. And as far as Tool and Puscifer goes, in the wonderfully twisted. (Tool), tortured (APC) and tuneful (Puscifer) world of Maynard there's absolutely a place for this holy trinity. Hail, hail.

I skipped it for the longest time, thinking it was the original. Not that I didn't like it before, was just burnt out on it going into Eat the Elephant. One day while driving it played while I didn't have a second to skip, and oh boy was I shocked.
For the next month or so I would tune into the album just to hear this version.

I like this version a LOT. I do like the triplet play between the hats and ride in the last chorus section in the other version, but this one seems cleaner. Love em' both.

@@Dienusha1 Our favorite artists get old at some point, so I might as well get used to who they are now. And I think Red Rocks is phenomenal.
Though, there were some very good 1997 and 1998 lives where he is at his peak. And he appears to be recovering his ability to scream, based on some more recent shows.

Listening to this I get an overwhelming feeling of sorrow and anger from all the friends and family I've lost from drugs addiction, suicide or freak accidents I burst out into tears thinking about it, but the sad reality is there's so many ppl out here hurting and they hide it well, including myself.
