Yeah, I don’t know what it is. In 2003-2004 I overheard my newly found girlfriend saying that this guy Maynard’s voice makes her panties wet. I was super insecure and pissed off, like who the fuck is Maynard. Now 17 years later I get it. My panties aren’t wet but I get it.

After learning about the shadow from 46 and 2... the difficulty of crossing through it from the humbling river... this song and Maynard are on another level of self discovery
This masterpiece, Right in Two, Brena, and Humbling River..would need 10 hours and a whiteboard to explain the meaning they've had and still have to my life. ❤
@@thebatman6201 Based on what exactly? I'm am about 95 percent sure that I saw an interview with Maynard where he explicitly states that Billy Howerdel was the lyricist for the album Eat The Elephant. Maynard provided insight in how to sing the song and tweaked some words here and there but the actual lyricist was Billy Howerdel
i dont think theres enough ppl talking about the mastery of the delivery of the first line of this song. The Moo Oo Oo Oovin inand outofthe shadoooooow. like you can almost see his voicing going in and out of a shadow so to speak. freaking brilliant. I could listen to 0:30-0:36 all day.
I wish I could say the same. I found a lot of these songs to sound like Thirteenth Step leftovers. Many have the same drum beat and tempo. I just felt the album overall was a bit boring. I guess nothing will ever be able to compare to Mer De Noms.
@@Diosys Exactly my thoughts. It's a good album in and of itself, but it feels like it's an album from another band. It feels "off" and a let down as an APC album.
@Verne Dimatteo Or...let's just respect that people have different opinions, instead of trying to disabuse people to conform to our own; especially on a subject as subjective as music.
@Verne Dimatteo You've made a lot of asinine assumptions there. You can disagree with my opinion all you want, but at least try and represent it accurately. I don't want a band to conform to my musical tastes, I want the band to freely express themselves; but that doesn't mean I have to like what they've produced. For the record, I do like this album, but it's a clear departure from the type of sound APC has produced prior, and IMO sounds almost like a different band; all the qualities I loved in previous APC albums are mostly missing in this new Album. It's a fool's errand to try and disabuse people of their musical tastes.
This was hard to read, but thank you for sharing it. I lost my 19 year old son to suicide in 2020. Every Tool, APC, Puscifer, and Deftones song makes me think of him. Music is healing, but it’s raw and painful sometimes too. Keep pushing through. Your brother is always with you
Love how you can hear Maynard much more in this one. His voice will forever be my favorite. "It's no easy mission holding on to how I picture you" that part in the beginning is just wow. 🖤
It’s like TOOL and The Cure collaborated - my heart is so full listening to this! So completely and perfectly what my numbed out soul needs right now. ✨💖💫
I love Thirteenth Step with a passion, but when I try to be as objective as possible (it's impossible, I know) I always end up concluding that this is the best song they've made.
I'm in love~ I've been feeling really lost without music of late. Rn the songs I do have on list I've worn out completely so it's just bland and monotonous with no heart left to give. I also had a moment when I deleted all of my music having been fed up with certain people and things in my life that I was about ready to kill that part of me for good despite the fact music has always been my life whether listening or creating. I'm really glad I remembered A Perfect Circle and looked up some of their songs to come across this. It's like a dark haze that surrounded me was lifted, and a wave of euphoric nostalgia that only comes in holy reverence of what makes us human inside washed over me to survive in a clock work orange society run by big brother and the machine.
Moving in and out of the shadow It's no easy mission, holding on to how I picture you Showing only bits and pieces 'Til the light betray you and your empty allocution Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility Searching your eyes for a hint or trace of it Searching your eyes for humility Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace I'm still searching, searching Showing only bits and pieces 'Til the tide betrays you and your empty allocution Float the Piper by and down the river Carcass crippled underneath the pounding waves of adoration Pied Piper, float on down the river Bloated carcass crippled me, the weight of adoration Moving in and out of the shadows It's no easy mission, holding on to how I picture you

My brother in sorrow, this touches deep within the soul. I understand to step to that edge, to long for the pain to release. So live my friend, live for your brother. Heal and be healed. One day the light will call us all home. God strengthen you.
How can a song hold so much beauty and heaviness all at once, and how is it that A Perfect Circle continues to somehow use that balance so effectively? There's just nothing quite like this band.

Maynard's voice is the only man's voice that gives me chills and I'm man enough to admit it

Sad day when he passes
Starting off with tears in my eyes from the last song: this will be a journey
I'm not one to be categorized but I am okay with being a Maynard worshiper.
His lyrics and what he says and his ideas were always my draw
I fucking love this song, this album, this band and most of all: Maynard, such a bloody genius.
