Took me a couple of listens to get it, but this is a perfect example of artists evolving, taking risks, and not caring what anyone thinks. This is the best rock album to come out in a while.

I’ll admit I slept on this album when it first came out because at first glance, it wasn’t hard enough for me at the time. I was also dealing with some pretty hardcore traumatic bullshit and I was coping through much heavier music. However I have really liked the songs that have popped up in my suggested videos. I love the message they all convey. I’ve said for years, we are inching towards our own destruction at a snails pace, afraid that we are creating some dystopian future, when in reality we are already living in it.

The singer is 54 years old. The guitarist is 49. Very unusual, and impressive in a music genre that dictates all 'rock stars' should be young and crazy. True artists experiment and move forward. Their age should not be relevant.

Been listening to this a lot, and I figured something out about the song's meaning I think.
    Aristocrat breaks down to
    o
    Timocrat breaks down to
    o
    Oligarch breaks down to
    o
    Republocrat breaks down to
    o
Four of the five of Plato's five regimes.. the only one missing in this song is Tyranny.
In the outro "a ten, niner eight." 10-98, police code for assignment complete. The "sentinels", a guardian figure, are taken out and allow for the collapse of all but Tyranny. Once tyranny is all that's left it is considered societal chaos. Whether or not this is geared toward today's social climate I'm still trying to decide. One thing is for sure, MJK is a beautiful enigma.

It's music, if it moves YOU then enjoy it. I have Otis Redding in the disc changer right next to Slayer. Don't apologise OR dislike someone for what they do or don't like. You like red, I like like yellow. Who gives a shit? Just be happy and hope others are too.

Wish rappers would use electronic voices with talent, this is how electronics in voice should be used, tired of rappers using electronics to make their shitty voices "sound better" this is a great singer bridging new electronic technology into voice when its not whats demanded, but what's needed, Maynard and Billy mad respect, listened to this song like 10x+ in a row

And it has a massive impact on everything...species extinction, ecological desasters, climate change, deforestation, world hunger, didease... So yeah, if we continue on this path, of barbeueuing sentinels, without even making the connection, there is no hope left in the hourglass...

Right before Maynard starts singing red flag red; you can hear a whisper say "Red" before him. It sounds like it could be the guitar strings imitating a voice that sounds like it said red. Either way it's supernatural; which makes the real full lyrics
      Red, red flag red.
It doesn't change the meaning much but it does emphasize it more. Red flag red stood for the blood of christ being an obvious 'red flag' not to be ignored. Repeating of the word red twice over makes a statement that it's very relevant to the state of our fraudulent Christian society. No one is living like Christ at all, they're full of it; like the point being made in talktalk
When it says "all the sentinels are damned." It's referring to the Angels; the fallen to be specific.

I see a lot of Manson & NIN references in these comments.
In my opinion, this is all David Bowie influenced.
Obviously Manson & Trent themselves were influenced by Bowie... so it makes sense to hear those guys in this song... but to me, the vocal harmonies.. the phrasing.. the funkiness of the music, that's all Bowie. ✌️️
Also, this is one of my favorites so far...
    And Feathers...

To release an album like this after Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step is amazing - 10/10. I will buy it.
The only question I have about the album has to do with the sequence of the tracks. Feels to me that the whole vibe would be translated just right if the order was: eat the elephant, disillusioned, the contrarian, the doomed, dlb, hourglass, talk talk, so long, down and by, delicious, feathers, get the led out.

      04. The Doomed
      05. So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish
      06. TalkTalk
      07. By And Down The River
      08. Delicious
      09. DLB

Vlad Salbatecu It's more interesting to have "instrumental" after the doomed. It's a good effect, aesthetically. Besides, the listener "stops" for a bit, before going back to the journey. This is nothing but a personal perspective.

    • @svrgvlo43

Try this: Doomed, Disillusioned, Delicious, TalkTalk, Contrarian, SLATFATF, By And Downd the River, DLB, Hourglass, Eat The Elephant, Feathers, Get The Led Out.
This is by far the best tracklisting, makes the album 10 times better. You can also put DLB before Contrarian, flows surprisingly well

I own the Album on Vinyl plus the released special edition 10". This album is a pure masterpiece. Peolpe may citizise that it`s not compareable to what people are used to be use too from APC. But is that really the point? Why beiing stuck in the same rotational mind dumbster.! Never heard of APC before but when i did, they made me eat an Elephant right away.! Thank you "A perfect Circle" for this masterpiece. I love it, plus all the true inside on this record.! (the easter egg on the vinyl is great...but you should have cut it right to match the flow. I know. difficult if you have a fixed tempo of the track, bound to.!) The A & B compare between Vinyl and this YT video shows me ones more that i know why my heart and soul is addicted to the black gold.! Even on a cheap turntable.
