HOW TO COMPLETE AN IRONMAN | 3 Months Training

  • Here is a peak at my first ever Ironman with only 3 months of training. I was a swimming at Michigan State University but since graduating, I barely swam. I was looking for a challenge to push myself mentally, physically, and spiritually and an Ironman caught my attention. Emilia Romagna in Cervia Italy fit in with my travels so I signed up! With no Ironman experience, a vegan diet, and internet resources, I trained myself to get in shape to complete a 140.6 Mile triathlon.
Leave a comment below if you have specific questions! I want to create a lot more content as I become a Vegan Ironman athlete and push myself further and set goals.

It definitely is a waste of energy and time if you overdo it...and educating yourself only gets you so far if you don't put it to proper use, so to the guy saying you're not looking at it the right way....you definitely are not, there's a healthy amount of watching UA-cam but watching hours and hours every day is not healthy, especially when it's mindless stuff and yeah it's good to relax with it, but it can easily lead to laziness.

I have the same thought process as you. My first sprint was last year, am doing the Herbal tri in LA this year - an Olympic. Once I complete that - am going for half iron man. Consistently throwing myself in the deep - its an amazing exercise of evolution. Am having new breakthroughs everyday. I don't think there is anything remotely close that is so gratifying. I did my first IM also with 3 Months of preperation but there are some points why this wasnt the best idea:
    1. In the 3 months I was completely into the sport - no time for nothing - even every free minute I have to buy equipment (bike, swimming gear,,, nutrition and so on)
    2. i finihsed in around 12:24 - but i raced the save way so that there was no chance that i will DNF.
    3. 1 year ago a ran a marathon in 4:24 - so i was in a good shape ( no kg to much on my body...) and before the 3 months specific ironman training i did the mark lauren 90 day program 2 times - so i had alot of mucles to prevent injuries and also some stamina through the training
    - i would say its possible but only without injuries if your muscles are well trained - so if you want to finish the IM in 3 months (if you dont like to train 1 year ...) be sure that you use the winter months to strengthen your muscles...

I do triathlon for 15 years now, also IM distance.
Dont train like that guy. Build up over time so you have lesser chance of permanent damage.
Besides - its not only the race, it's the way towards it and how its gonna change you in a positive way. You wont get that experience in a few months otherwise.
People taking more than 13 hours should not participate anyway (unless they have a handicap or are old) because it's not a race anymore but some sort of walking to the finish line...
Cutoff times are a joke these days.
