It has a bug where for some reason people actually playing it are tracked under the "beta". It's actually closer to 6,700. Still low, but not as low as 250. Edit: I'm wrong, see below.
P sure every ending you could get on any difficulty setting had a challenge associated with it. “Complete x level on y difficulty before the assault or after the assault” is most of the challenges. The rest are about how you upgrade your guns
all I know is I played the game, I enjoyed the game, I completed a heist stealthy, got 0 xp towards leveling up, uninstalled, if they since changed it toobad dead IP to me.

I personally think the Always Online requirement was what killed this game. We might have been a bit more tolerant (And I probably would've bought the game) if not for all those Matchmaking Errors.
I don't think we have been intolerant, quite the contrary, we have to say no when something doesn't please us. Always online broke the game straight away, I don't like that, if the server is shut down either because it is undergoing maintenance or because the executives decided to end the service, you can say goodbye to your game. Look at what Ubisoft is doing with the first The Crew, for example. Payday is not PVP, why always online? I played the other two games a lot and Pd3 would be in my Steam library if it weren't for these bad choices.
When I got into the closed beta, that game was so unbelievably fun to me and was overall a way better gameplay loop than Payday 2. The only thing that is keeping me from buying the game is the Always Online requirement because games don’t expire.
What killed the game from the get-go was the hate momentum they caught because they killed Payday 2 for a whole month before pulling hotfix patches. They never apologized, never reasoned their decisions with the community or known content creators. It's ALWAYS Almir taking the hits from the community instead of the executives. Was the death of Payday 3 deserved? Yes, Starbreeze SHOULD go bankrupt.

I don’t think literally everything from pd2. Most akimbos were a mistake, the AMCAR, CAR-4, and AMR-16, and maybe the North Star should’ve been condensed into one gun with the attachments of all three/four, and the weapon bloat will make some guns feel samey.
That's ignoring that Payday 2 was absolutely massive. Personally would be fine with 20% heists and the removal of guns that were essentially just clones.

They could have fixed the lore by simply... Making a new payday gang. No doubt their exploits gave rise to fans or imitators. Explains why characters from previous games aren't there, and creates a story point - is the new gang living up to the name? Are they happy with riding the rep of legends and not making their own? What if the old crew wants to come out of retirement? (What if new Bain was Former Dallas?) So much squandered potential. I think it all kind of proves Starbreeze was a one hit wonder, tbh. Non stop flops since Payday 2, and they even had to resurrect the game to save their asses.
i mean the heisters dont even look like themselves and they focus on the literal worst character ever written in the series so much its embarassing ("Wow guys she's a GAmUR GiRl aND nINeTNDO"), they may as well be new characters or shitty imitators
I stopped playing Payday 2 a little bit after the white house mission. The story was over, everything was essentially wrapped up, multiple VA's had either died or just left working for the company (Wolf's VA for example). Everything was done and it was just weird how they kept printing out more and more DLC and stuff. When Payday 3 rolled around and showed that it's gonna be copy-paste stuff from the previous game, I just had zero interest in getting it and promptly ignored it like one of those machine-printed COD games.
Overkill also wanted to be done with Payday 2 after the White House mission, they even announced at the time that Payday 2 would have no more DLCs after this. But then their next game, The Walking Dead Overkill failed miserably and they didn't have enough to fund another project, and they wanted their Payday Too.
I never played PD before, my buddy got this on game pass though and I watched him playing it for a little bit when we were hanging out and the brain dead enemy AI made me lose intrest almost immediately. Idk how the older titles are but just on it's own merit PD3 looks mind-numbing and basic.

continental hotel heist idea is one of the best ways to include the Jhon wick universe with an interesting map and being stealth only a good challenge. The map will just need a lot of randomization all the maps of PD 3 do. Hoping for some remade maps/objectives.
11:57 Bullet sponges? The biggest allure for PD2 for me was how little health we have. It's very interesting playing a horde shooter where you die in 3-4 shots just like the horde enemies, it made the game feel very unique for me. Armor gating was an awesome mechanic too!

But it's another No Man's Sky-kinda situation. Features that were expected --- whether mentioned by devs who didn't communicate that they were scraped, or features that were promised and just didn't have priority --- were absent at launch, most notably the dynamic city and branching story. What we got now is basically just a Tell-Tale game. It's alright, but it's disappointing compared to what was expected. A lot of these games do end up pretty awesome down the road, but I ain't keen on preordering to fill fat-cat stockholder pockets just to receive a vertical slice build with the promise of a real game later. I prefer to hold off and buy it on sale or from key resellers down the road, or just avoid AAA altogether and go for indie games.
To be fair, he talked about it in a recent ish video about how he played a different polished version he was told would represent the end product. But I do find it disingenuous that he didn't have a community post or a dedicated short video saying it.
I do like PayDay 3 for what little it does offer but i still like PayDay 2 more. I don't mind the combat in 3 but still feel like 2 had the best perks to go with (and obviously weapons) My biggest problem that i always run into in 3 is that i am almost always out of ammo compared to what i have in PayDay 2 being pretty efficient at keeping ammo in my pockets. I miss the fast pace moving of PayDay 2 and i don't mind the more tactical movement of 3. But the thing i love the most about PayDay 3 is that Stealth is actually fun. Although i do miss the ability to choose your soundtrack. I feel like what we really need to get PayDay 3 on track is a lot of heists and a lot of weapons. Because what i dislike the most is the lack of content, sure Payday 2 had a decade of content in the game. But at least have a large variety of stuff to do.

I spent hundreds of dollars on DLC, merchandise, and other Payday 2 related material. I have nearly a thousand hours across four copies of the game. My old airsoft callsign was "Payday," due to the fact I dressed up in a suit and wore a wolf mask whenever I played. I've bought and played both RAID: WW2, and the original Payday: the Heist. I've beaten the secret ending, and have nearly 1k achievements on PC. I convinced a dozen or so friends to play Payday 2 with me over the years. I've spent hours watching lore and build and meta videos on youtube. This is all to say I'm quite a fan of the franchise. Or at least, I was. I was highly skeptical upon seeing the gameplay trailer for Payday 3. Around that time there had been the recent fiasco with the mobile game that everyone already forgot about, as well as the update to Payday 2 that made it so you needed to run the game through Epic Games' servers, as well as breaking every mod in the process. Where I had once been fawning over every single piece of media released for Payday, I never even bought Payday 3. I still haven't. And I doubt I ever will. My love for the franchise was hit with three knockout blows all at the same time, and even now, I haven't been able to bring myself to boot up Payday 2 in nearly a year. It's heartbreaking, and I miss it, but Overkill/Starbreeze fucked up, and I won't partake until they acknowledge what they've done, and fix it. But we all know that won't happen, right?

I'd love to see a video reviewing how Payday 2 changed over 10 years, because today we compare PD3 to PD2 which had 10 years of upgrades. Don't get me wrong, I'm furious what PD3 is but also can see things that could have attributed. Creating PD3 on Unreal Engine was certainly a big one, making devs to start from a scratch I guess. Another were probably publishers forcing to release early, online only with season pass, etc.
Make a Choice gentlemen: 1 game of Payday 3: $39.99 40 games of Payday 2: $39.60 during sales 4 games of Payday 2: $39.60 regular time one will give you total headache, one will give you a full crew ready to play, one will give you lots of friends.
It's got good mechanics and good bones, so they could turn it around. But we'll see, if you don't get a big player base at the start it can be hard to keep the ball rolling. I'm gonna keep and eye on it though and probably get it later once they've brought some features back and added some more content.
There’s one way they could pull it off, with a big 2.0 update basically giving the game a second wind. Whoever is doing the marketing over there knows what they’re doing so they can pull it off.

The UI in Payday 3 is complete garbage, it's messy and uninspiring. Feels like they tried to emulate certain other games and even failed at that. Payday 2's UI wasn't perfect, but it was simple and unique enough to separate itself from other games. Even the backgrounds had "life" to them.

Yeah I read about it a while ago. One of the devs actually commented on one of my videos I think. It’s nice to see them trying to make something the like work.
I think the reason everyone gave PD3 so much shit day one was because everyone had been sharing their concerns about the always online thing since it was announced. The devs ignored all the feedback until the game came out and the worst case scenario everyone was warning them about actually happened. It was a moment of vindication and frustration.
Another thing is that payday 2 is completely broken on modern consoles. So even if you wanted to go back and play the superior game it's completely broke. The situation is so fucked, either play the new dumpster fire nobody likes or play the good game and hope and pray the game doesn't completely fall apart
as someone who never played any payday. it seemed like there was a good amount of hype surrounding payday 3 leading up to launch. obviously what killed the game was that you literally couldn't play it at launch. with single player even being mandatory always online, meant the game was useless for DAYS. when i finally could get a match it was decent, about what i expected. i played each map a few times and was done.

The main gameplay elements are already set up. Literally all they have to do is polish it, give us some better heists, and just do a few QOL things and it will be great.
The funny thing about this is that payday 2 at launch had some of these issues. Such as heavy emphasis on teamwork. No perk decks. Etc well the thing that sets launch payday 2 from payday 3 is that you didnt need people to play online you could play solo which is albeit harder but its there.

I had been playing Payday 2 for quite some time since 2014, and I'd like to think I even got to experience it at its peak. Stopped playing a few years ago when they claimed the story and game was practically "complete" and that there'd be "no more DLC releases" as they announced in one Steam post. What a lie that turned out to be eh? Considering Overkill/Starbreeze's past mistakes and failures it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone right? Disasters that were the addition of microtransactions and the absolute crud that was the Completely Overkill Pack (What a blast from the past right?). This was where I had thrown away all trust to the developer and publisher. Asides from Payday 2, the other games they had a hand in were absolute failures from Raid WW2, and Overkill's The Walking Dead. One of those two being so bad they removed it from the Steam Store not too long after. Anyway a part of me REALLY wanted Payday 3 to be good, but I was not surprised when it turned out to be a flop. At this point I just want a decent co-op bank heist/robbery game (GTA V/Online was good), such a shame PAYDAY is considered the lead in this genre.
TBH i would like to try pd2 instead of 3, but after what they did with epic servers update i couldnt play pd2 anymore... idk i just miss it idk if its fixed now or not...
you can add -steamMM to pd2's launch options in steam to make the game use the old peer to peer lobby system. There isn't a lot of players doing this unfortunately so it can be hard to find games, it should work perfectly if you have a few friends though

Saying payday 3 is getting "hate" is the wrong way to convey it, it's getting justified criticism, phrasing it like that makes it appear as if it was unjustified and just an emotional response.
Payday 3 clearly has a lot of heart behind it, but after level 90 something I just couldn't put up with that shit anymore. Online only likely wasn't the developer's call, but it still killed the reputation, the leveling system was the pain felt while the game was dying, and the lack of content buried the corpse. I even tried making a custom map or two for the game to help with the lack of heists but gave up a little before Syntax Error came out, good thing I did tbh because it would've been wasted effort given no one is playing this awful game anymore.
Payday2 was 10 years ago. Pauday3 has like 4 months the game still bullsht and they dont even bother to fix matchmaking or somethin i swear if in february update we only get 2 bad weaponds 1 new outfit and 2 more bored Overkill will bankrupt
I've played Payday 2 since launch, nearly 2000 hours, all achievements and let me tell you, it was never this bad. The main concern of Payday 2 was the lack of content at the start and some gamebreaking bugs, exploits and glitches etc. The playerbase agreed that the foundation is solid and it just needs more time to build on it, Payday 3 has none of that, it's empty and soulless as it can get. I purchased it, my friends did the same, we played for a few hours and we haven't touched it since.
This is one of those games that will become like very good in three years, if the studio doesn't shut down before then. I mean Darktide is kinda redeeming itself now, the latest updates have been fantastic, so you never know.
It would be cool if we had a knife melee in the game, they could keep the gun melee for example but maybe add a knife takedown animation for loud, that would only work in certain scenarios where there aren’t too many enemies close, so it wouldn’t be op
payday 3 is basically asking someone who never played any payday at all "hey make it look and feel better and modern", without letting them ever look at the actual games. Would explain why so many things are missing and new things just feel out of place

When Payday 3 rolled around and showed that it's gonna be copy-paste stuff from the previous game, I just had zero interest in getting it and promptly ignored it like one of those machine-printed COD games.
Sadly I can't disagree. it's very painful to see one of my favorite franchises go down the sh*t hole like this.
Overkill also wanted to be done with Payday 2 after the White House mission, they even announced at the time that Payday 2 would have no more DLCs after this. But then their next game, The Walking Dead Overkill failed miserably and they didn't have enough to fund another project, and they wanted their Payday Too.
I never played PD before, my buddy got this on game pass though and I watched him playing it for a little bit when we were hanging out and the brain dead enemy AI made me lose intrest almost immediately. Idk how the older titles are but just on it's own merit PD3 looks mind-numbing and basic.
@@BigWheel. The first Payday game was a very good game, it was difficult and challenging... the second game was updated many times so it became balanced due to new DLC's and updates that fixed a lot of bugs and mission bugs, so yea... the older games were better.

The whole Continental thing would require the studio who owns John Wick deciding to do a crossover of some kind.
continental hotel heist idea is one of the best ways to include the Jhon wick universe with an interesting map and being stealth only a good challenge. The map will just need a lot of randomization all the maps of PD 3 do. Hoping for some remade maps/objectives.
That UI showing your teammates and their health bars is ripped straight from COD
11:57 Bullet sponges? The biggest allure for PD2 for me was how little health we have. It's very interesting playing a horde shooter where you die in 3-4 shots just like the horde enemies, it made the game feel very unique for me. Armor gating was an awesome mechanic too!
Of course DSOD is an entire different story…

But it's another No Man's Sky-kinda situation. Features that were expected --- whether mentioned by devs who didn't communicate that they were scraped, or features that were promised and just didn't have priority --- were absent at launch, most notably the dynamic city and branching story. What we got now is basically just a Tell-Tale game. It's alright, but it's disappointing compared to what was expected.
A lot of these games do end up pretty awesome down the road, but I ain't keen on preordering to fill fat-cat stockholder pockets just to receive a vertical slice build with the promise of a real game later.
I prefer to hold off and buy it on sale or from key resellers down the road, or just avoid AAA altogether and go for indie games.

I refunded the game after realizing that Payday 3 is just “we have Payday 2 at home”…
I do like PayDay 3 for what little it does offer but i still like PayDay 2 more. I don't mind the combat in 3 but still feel like 2 had the best perks to go with (and obviously weapons) My biggest problem that i always run into in 3 is that i am almost always out of ammo compared to what i have in PayDay 2 being pretty efficient at keeping ammo in my pockets. I miss the fast pace moving of PayDay 2 and i don't mind the more tactical movement of 3. But the thing i love the most about PayDay 3 is that Stealth is actually fun. Although i do miss the ability to choose your soundtrack.
I feel like what we really need to get PayDay 3 on track is a lot of heists and a lot of weapons. Because what i dislike the most is the lack of content, sure Payday 2 had a decade of content in the game. But at least have a large variety of stuff to do.

I spent hundreds of dollars on DLC, merchandise, and other Payday 2 related material. I have nearly a thousand hours across four copies of the game. My old airsoft callsign was "Payday," due to the fact I dressed up in a suit and wore a wolf mask whenever I played. I've bought and played both RAID: WW2, and the original Payday: the Heist. I've beaten the secret ending, and have nearly 1k achievements on PC. I convinced a dozen or so friends to play Payday 2 with me over the years. I've spent hours watching lore and build and meta videos on youtube. This is all to say I'm quite a fan of the franchise. Or at least, I was. I was highly skeptical upon seeing the gameplay trailer for Payday 3. Around that time there had been the recent fiasco with the mobile game that everyone already forgot about, as well as the update to Payday 2 that made it so you needed to run the game through Epic Games' servers, as well as breaking every mod in the process. Where I had once been fawning over every single piece of media released for Payday, I never even bought Payday 3. I still haven't. And I doubt I ever will. My love for the franchise was hit with three knockout blows all at the same time, and even now, I haven't been able to bring myself to boot up Payday 2 in nearly a year. It's heartbreaking, and I miss it, but Overkill/Starbreeze fucked up, and I won't partake until they acknowledge what they've done, and fix it. But we all know that won't happen, right?

No no no no, Simon Viklund is just INSANELY good. I remember hearing the soundtrack to Bionic Commando Rearmed which happened to fall into my lap and wanting to instantly play the game. I'd love to see a video reviewing how Payday 2 changed over 10 years, because today we compare PD3 to PD2 which had 10 years of upgrades. Don't get me wrong, I'm furious what PD3 is but also can see things that could have attributed. Creating PD3 on Unreal Engine was certainly a big one, making devs to start from a scratch I guess. Another were probably publishers forcing to release early, online only with season pass, etc.
There was an easy way to predict how payday 3 was going to turn out. It's called Raid: WW2
I actually predicted that pd3 wouldn't perform as pd2 did. Pd2 set the expectations so high, that it's very unlikely to make something better.

It's got good mechanics and good bones, so they could turn it around. But we'll see, if you don't get a big player base at the start it can be hard to keep the ball rolling. I'm gonna keep and eye on it though and probably get it later once they've brought some features back and added some more content.

The UI in Payday 3 is complete garbage, it's messy and uninspiring. Feels like they tried to emulate certain other games and even failed at that.
Payday 2's UI wasn't perfect, but it was simple and unique enough to separate itself from other games. Even the backgrounds had "life" to them.

I think the reason everyone gave PD3 so much shit day one was because everyone had been sharing their concerns about the always online thing since it was announced. The devs ignored all the feedback until the game came out and the worst case scenario everyone was warning them about actually happened. It was a moment of vindication and frustration.
Another thing is that payday 2 is completely broken on modern consoles. So even if you wanted to go back and play the superior game it's completely broke. The situation is so fucked, either play the new dumpster fire nobody likes or play the good game and hope and pray the game doesn't completely fall apart
as someone who never played any payday. it seemed like there was a good amount of hype surrounding payday 3 leading up to launch.
obviously what killed the game was that you literally couldn't play it at launch. with single player even being mandatory always online, meant the game was useless for DAYS.
when i finally could get a match it was decent, about what i expected. i played each map a few times and was done.

The funny thing about this is that payday 2 at launch had some of these issues. Such as heavy emphasis on teamwork. No perk decks. Etc well the thing that sets launch payday 2 from payday 3 is that you didnt need people to play online you could play solo which is albeit harder but its there.
What i hate about it is that many UA-camrs got sponsored and they promoted this game highly and most of them didn't bother making an apology video.
I also had high hopes for the game when I played the Beta. I even praised the game back then. But holy mother of god as soon as I played the full game I changed my mind.

I had been playing Payday 2 for quite some time since 2014, and I'd like to think I even got to experience it at its peak. Stopped playing a few years ago when they claimed the story and game was practically "complete" and that there'd be "no more DLC releases" as they announced in one Steam post. What a lie that turned out to be eh? Considering Overkill/Starbreeze's past mistakes and failures it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone right? Disasters that were the addition of microtransactions and the absolute crud that was the Completely Overkill Pack (What a blast from the past right?). This was where I had thrown away all trust to the developer and publisher. Asides from Payday 2, the other games they had a hand in were absolute failures from Raid WW2, and Overkill's The Walking Dead. One of those two being so bad they removed it from the Steam Store not too long after. Anyway a part of me REALLY wanted Payday 3 to be good, but I was not surprised when it turned out to be a flop. At this point I just want a decent co-op bank heist/robbery game (GTA V/Online was good), such a shame PAYDAY is considered the lead in this genre.
To be fair, Payday 2 took ages to get fun for a while. That's basically how I'm seeing PD3 atm. So I'll wait a cpl years then hop in

you can add -steamMM to pd2's launch options in steam to make the game use the old peer to peer lobby system. There isn't a lot of players doing this unfortunately so it can be hard to find games, it should work perfectly if you have a few friends though

Saying payday 3 is getting "hate" is the wrong way to convey it, it's getting justified criticism, phrasing it like that makes it appear as if it was unjustified and just an emotional response.
Payday 3 clearly has a lot of heart behind it, but after level 90 something I just couldn't put up with that shit anymore.
Online only likely wasn't the developer's call, but it still killed the reputation, the leveling system was the pain felt while the game was dying, and the lack of content buried the corpse.
I even tried making a custom map or two for the game to help with the lack of heists but gave up a little before Syntax Error came out, good thing I did tbh because it would've been wasted effort given no one is playing this awful game anymore.

Payday2 was 10 years ago. Pauday3 has like 4 months the game still bullsht and they dont even bother to fix matchmaking or somethin i swear if in february update we only get 2 bad weaponds 1 new outfit and 2 more bored Overkill will bankrupt

I've played Payday 2 since launch, nearly 2000 hours, all achievements and let me tell you, it was never this bad.
The main concern of Payday 2 was the lack of content at the start and some gamebreaking bugs, exploits and glitches etc. The playerbase agreed that the foundation is solid and it just needs more time to build on it, Payday 3 has none of that, it's empty and soulless as it can get.
I purchased it, my friends did the same, we played for a few hours and we haven't touched it since.
The best thing about payday 3 is how it reminds me how awesome the first 2 games were.
This is one of those games that will become like very good in three years, if the studio doesn't shut down before then.
I mean Darktide is kinda redeeming itself now, the latest updates have been fantastic, so you never know.

It would be cool if we had a knife melee in the game, they could keep the gun melee for example but maybe add a knife takedown animation for loud, that would only work in certain scenarios where there aren’t too many enemies close, so it wouldn’t be op
