thank you very much for your videos , its useful i want to ask you if i can make it without Benzyl Alcohol or is there any alternative. thank you for all
Hey! So to answer you question. There are many ways to make pomade, but each way is best the way it was made originally. What I mean by this is that by changing ingredients you're going to end up with a completely different pomade in the end. Play around with the ingredients you have and see what you come up with. It won't come out like mine does, but maybe yours will be awesome too! Hope this helps!
hi sir. i have one tiny problem. and i dont know how to solved it. maybe you can help me out. i already made exactly like the video said. but, the end product consistency is not exactly like the video. mine is to soft while yours is hard enough. i need the product to be hard. how to solve this sir? can u help me?
Hey! I'm wondering if you cooked it long enough? That's really the only thing I can think of. If you followed everything else like I do then it should come out thick like mine does. Other than that you could try adding beeswax or another type of hard wax. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Hi julo. Sorry for interrupting. I also have the same problem. For me the hold effect is perfect. The problem is, its not hard enough. The consistency is too soft when i put it on my palm. I already play around with beeswax. The consistency turns almost perfect. But the pomade is not clear like yours. It turns milky colour. I also played around with dimethicone and hope the pomade to turn clear and shining, but sadly, it doesn't. Should i add more cete 25? And what happen if i do not wait for 3 days for the 'VD' to mix? One more thing, is it ok if i dont put benzyl alcohol in it? It's quite hard to find it in my country. Thank you for your time sir.
Hey! They sell an almost clear beeswax here in the states. I don't know if they sell it near you. If you are using a white beeswax it will make the pomade milky in color. I like to use benzyl alcohol because I've noticed it makes the cooking faster which allows the ingredients to melt more efficiently. Waiting the 3 days allows for the oils to blend well with the emulsifying agents. It won't blend as well once added to the other ingredients if you don't wait which means that the final product wont have all ingredients in the correct amounts. Some will separate and float to top of mixture and be left in vial when you pour it. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Hello! Greetings from Argentina! Here I can not get some ingredients .. like benzyl alcohol, PEG7 and prickly pear seed oil.. so I was thinking ... It could replace PEG7 by glycerol monostearate?
Hi there, can you tell me what ingredients that makes the pomade final outcome crystal clear? I have been making pomade for almost one year now, but I still haven't nail it to make it crystal clear, I have increase my PG to 20% per 100GM, it makes the pomade clear, but still can see a little cloudy, not like others pomade where you put in the glass jar and you can see through the other side of the jar. please answer my question, thanks.
If you have an air tight container then yes it should be fine. If your container even leaks air a little then I wouldn't soak it more than say a week. And yes room temperature. Hope this helps!
Ok, one more question, i was a little difficult to find benzyl alcohol, do u have any suggestion? Or can use PGA food grade? Thanks before for u're help, this video really helpfull
For this particular pomade you need the alcohol. You can make a different type by playing around with other ingredients. If you make this without the alcohol it will more than likely not dissolve fully and all ingredients wont be mixed in then.
Oh i understand. Those vials are mixes of oils and emulsifiers so they need time to blend properly. Otherwise when you go to mix them in the mixing part with the water they will turn white and not blend well.
Hello @JuloHair . Im really thank you and appreciate your work. This video really help me a lot to make homemade pomade. I want to ask you some question. First, What is the function of Benzyl Alcohol on the Vial 1 ? If i dont have Benzyl Alcohol, may i change with another ingredient like Methanol or something that suit with the blend. Second, I want to change Prickly pear seed oil to another oil. The other oil is coconut oil, olive oil and almond oil. Which one that you prefer for the pomade ?
Switching the prickly pear seed oil to another should be fine. I'd stick with a lighter oil. Of the choices you gave I'd say almond oil. I've noticed my pomade melts better when I use benzyl alcohol. Without it it seems to clump more. It also works as a secondary preservative. It's definitely not a great preservative though. Use another preservative with it.
Thank you Julo! I have tried it. But when i mix the ingredients, i was scaled it at 100 gram. When i finished the brewing, i pour it on my jar and it was 80 gram. Any idea ? I was think about it, may be i brewed it too hot ?
Hello. This is a great video! You have an excellent channel! I'm subscribed! But I have a request. I'm from russia and do not speak English well. Could you write a recipe? Briefly, what to do, what order of addition, how many grams of each component. I'm sure many people would appreciate it. I can help develop your channel, I can send some money. I wish your channel prosperity and good new videos!
Thank you kind sir! I have added in the description of the videos the ingredients in the gram amounts. Thank you for your kind words! Thanks for watching!
hi Julo, great video! i wanna ask, whats the second ingredients after propelyne glycol 1,5g. i dont speak english very well and i didnt catch what u said in that video. after propelyne glycol before polysorbateb20. thanks before 😁
I would try playing around with peg-8 beeswax to thicken it up. I may make another recipe in the future which will include that in it for thicker pomade. This pomade in this video is pretty thick though.
Hey great question and it's funny you bring it up because I was thinking the other day that I should include an explanation in my next video the differences between PEG and no PEG. To keep it brief on here, PEG stands for Polyethylene Glycol. When the oil is modified with PEG it allows it to mix better with water and alcohol based products. So in a water based pomade such as this one you want to stick with PEG-8. If you were making an oil based pomade regular beeswax would be better.
Great video, I'm trying to calculate measurements for my list: MICRO CRYSTALINE WAX WHITE PETROLATUM LANOLIN BEESWAX AVOCADO OIL COLORING (CLAY COLORING) SCENT (ESSENTIAL OIL)
Thank you ❣️
Thanks for traduction
I went wrong in the mixing somehow and ended up making crystal meth. The cops are banging at my door. Tell my wife I love ajfjqlkaf v
Hi julo, some substitute for PEG 7? In my country Is dificult find it
thank you very much for your videos , its useful i want to ask you if i can make it without Benzyl Alcohol or is there any alternative. thank you for all
If you use an emulsifier, it would be nice to add it at what stage and let us know what emulsifier and the amount applied in the recipe.
could you made a detailed video on pomades, the wax to oil ratios and so on. Also with hairstyling clays, their ingredients, emulsifiers and etc?
I thought of doing that. Maybe in the future at some point. Thanks for watching!

Hello, if I do not want to use fragrance do I need to alter the amount of the other ingredients?

Hello Julo, just trying to get all the ingredients here in my country. Can I replace PVP-k90 with k30? will it do the job?
can i make it without benzyl alcohol ?
Hello! Greetings from Argentina! Here I can not get some ingredients .. like benzyl alcohol, PEG7 and prickly pear seed oil.. so I was thinking ... It could replace PEG7 by glycerol monostearate?
Benzyl alcohol I do not know, so I do not know how to replace it .. and the oil I imagine I can use any other .. thank you very much !!
You can try it, but I think it will come out too thick. You would prob need to tweak the other liquid ingredients.
And yes any other light oil should work fine.

Hi again julo, i've try making the pomade, but the c-25 didnt melting, can u help me
you used cetearyl alcohol?
is there a substitute to Peg - 7 cocoate??
Hi im from the philippines, im having a hard time finding the peg 7 cocoat and ceteareth 25. Do u have an idea if theres alternatives for the two
I see the oils are Food grade or pharmaceutical, cosmetic can u tell me which kind do i use are they all diffrent or the same?
I actually use a mixture. I think most of mine are cosmetic, but the glycerin is food grade for sure.
where do you buy your ingredients?
if i want a bigger batch do i times everything to 5 or just some items?
Everything.
Julo Hair like everything?
Julo Hair you didnt times all to 10 tho.
Julo Hair can i replace jojoba oil with any hair oil that i can get?
Julo Hair where can i get all tgese ingredients?
just confirming, no water is added?
Not in video 1. It's added in video 2. Thanks for watching!
it's work if i dont soak the recipe?
What do you mean?
you say the vial 1 and 2 allow to soak, what if i dont soak vial 1 and 2 ,and mixing all recipe together
Oh i understand. Those vials are mixes of oils and emulsifiers so they need time to blend properly. Otherwise when you go to mix them in the mixing part with the water they will turn white and not blend well.
so waiting on Vial 1 and 2 for 3 days or more is the secret to having a clear finished product?
Yes. It allows the emulsifiers to work.
Sir .. can i buy the strong hold matte clay recipe ? And the wax recipe ?

This is the best I've seen in my life! Let's now recipe American Crew Molding Clay!
And more please tell me what i can replace
Peg-7
PVP
Ceteareth-25
I can not find these components in my city
HAHA! Thanks! That's the next vid you'd like to see?
Maybe online you can find them...? Those are like the main ingredients. Replacing those would make a totally different product.
hi Julo, great video! i wanna ask, whats the second ingredients after propelyne glycol 1,5g. i dont speak english very well and i didnt catch what u said in that video. after propelyne glycol before polysorbateb20. thanks before 😁
1.25g of benzyl alcohol. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Help please where is the best place to buy majority of ingredients
I buy it all online. Different websites though.
What's the best website to buy these ingredients at low quantities?
I'm not sure man. I bought this stuff over such a big time span that I can't really remember.
how do you make a extra thick version for thick hair
I would try playing around with peg-8 beeswax to thicken it up. I may make another recipe in the future which will include that in it for thicker pomade. This pomade in this video is pretty thick though.
Hey julio grettings i have seen your videos and i have some questions about the ingredients can you send me the list plz?
Hey! I've added the ingredient list to the video description. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for watching!
Is there a significant difference with peg-8 beeswax and traditional beeswax? Or is it relatively the same?
Hey great question and it's funny you bring it up because I was thinking the other day that I should include an explanation in my next video the differences between PEG and no PEG. .......or, you could save 2 hours of your life, & the headache & just buy real pomade.
But that's not fun
Great video, I'm trying to calculate measurements for my list:
MICRO CRYSTALINE WAX
WHITE PETROLATUM
LANOLIN
BEESWAX
AVOCADO OIL
COLORING (CLAY COLORING)
SCENT (ESSENTIAL OIL)
Sounds like you're making Goon's Grease...
Actually, it's similar but i am going to swap some of the oils out and more...
