hey brotha, nice little thing you've got going on here. I'm currently on my own journey to creating my own pomade. I've been researching and purchasing all kinds of different ingredients and doing tons of leg work simply because I'm that guy. I haven't even begun the trail and error process for recipes yet but I did want to share one thing with you. I've learned in my research this far maybe one tip you'd find helpful. Apparently the essential oils or fragrance oils we'll be adding to our pomades have this "flash point". It's basically the temperature at which the smell of the oil sort of burns away. I realize this adds a bit more to think about but you might find that waiting until you get your consistancy of the pomade right first WITHOUT adding the oils that are meant for fragrance could help. If you add them in while the brew is still in peak heat on the double boiler and hot the flash point, those smells will burn away from the full potential. Get me? Just thought I'd drop that little piece of info. Look in to it if you'd like. I like what you're doing here, I've subscribed.

Thank you for the video. I am looking to make a wet look strong hold and and high shine pomade. What would you recommend using to make such a pomade? Thanks

Thanks for clarifying the ratios of Oil/wax and the use of Shea butter. Now I got it right and can adjust the consistency to my own taste. Cheers bro

How is the hold on this recipe? Trying to slick back my hair and hoping this holds really well,

jared smith it's got a nice hold to it Jared. I've used it to slick and it worked well. After you apply it you can slightly wet your hands and run that through your hair. That helps to hydrate it a little and I feel adds a slickness and shine as well (if you want a wet look). Hope that helps my man.

Does it matter which shea butter you use?

you need more carrier oil in order for it not to be so hard when its done, or almond coconut, jojoba.

The consistency will be a personal preference, so that's a great tip! Thanks

The holding power is good - I've never had any issues. It's also a movable hold
