    Man I’m so excited to kick this year off with a new Behind the Brew! A goal for this year is to do a lot more of these! In order to make that happen one of the things I do need is to hit that subscriber goal so help me out and I’ll return the favor ;)

    What a good way to kick off 2018 by making behind a brew video. This video makes me want to get into more home brewed hair clays in particular.

    As someone who works in the cosmetic manufacturing business, my 1 BIG suggestion is that he should wear a hair & beard net. Let's not throw GMP out the door just cause he's making it at home.

    What’s the difference between a clay pomade, an unorthodox water based pomade, and regular hair clay? Does it hold stronger? Is there a textbook definition anywhere?

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  6 років тому

      noreaction clay pomades don’t have to be dry and a matte finish some have a natural finish and use the clay for additional hold and texture but aren’t dry and totally matte like regular hair clays usually are. Unorthodox wb Pomade really has nothing to do with clay it’s a waterbased formula that doesn’t harden up. Before the creation of uwb the only waterbased formulas were gel type products, or ones that hardened up like gel. Uwb isn’t supposed to harden up.

    Has anyone actually tried a clay pomade? Do you feel or see bits of sand sticking on your hair? I have a good recipe for creamy medium hold water based pomade but hesitant to add clays to my formula.

    I want to add a variety of pomade to my business but I dunno. In our humid and hot country like Philippines I don't see this going to be a hit. It looks sticky and hard to work on the hair, and what happens when you sweat? Does it melt and stick to scalp? with that texture it may scratch hair strands.

      silverbullet2008bb yeah that’s why we don’t show the percentages because they worked hard to figure it out and if you don’t have those then you basically have nothing. It’s super hard

    Whats the function of the sodium bicarbonate in the pomade???just curious to know :)

    • @tabormorin4526
      @tabormorin4526 6 років тому

      The sodium bicarbonate acts as an additional emulsifier, I think.

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  5 років тому +1

      Rocki Wingard anytime. I just looked at his site. It used to list all the ingredients for each one but I see now he’s got some without it but if you check the matte paste, he has phenoxyethanol there listed, which I believe is used to preserve the entire line on the waterbased stuff.

    how do you know the measurements to use for each and every piece

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  6 років тому

      Liljohnaye he measures them on the scale there. I can’t exactly show you that cuz then everyone would know what the formula is

    • @Liljohnaye
      @Liljohnaye 6 років тому

      oh gotcha. But like is there a basic formula everyone starts off with. like where is the starting point from like if i was to make my own clay for myself theres so many different ingredients how do i get an idea of the amounts to use. Is there premade hair formulas out there that people can start from then make their adjustments and tweaks to it?

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  6 років тому +1

      Liljohnaye there’s no basic formula all these guys started by researching what ingredients do and how to combine them and just started testing and experimenting until they got to where they wanted to be.

  • @DavidZh7

    how long it last?

  • @enbardis
    @enbardis 6 років тому

    So is clay pomade like a matte oils based pomade? Or completely different?

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  6 років тому

      Elias Bardis clay pomades vary based on the brand but they usually don’t have the usual dry lightweight volume they usually use the clays to add additional hold without a bunch of shine and a little texture.

    • @MMTV
      @MMTV  6 років тому

      Doesn’t mean their oil based, some are but ones like this are waterbased
