Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering though why you chose those certain carrier oils and also why did you use a preservative? Why would this pomade go bad?
C0lonel5 apricot oil I great for dry hair whereas the other oils are great for keeping moisture and softening skin, in other words the Scalp... You have to use the preservative because you're mixing water and oil... You're basically creating a meal for bacteria unless you keep it in the fridge, but it'll only last in the fridge for probably 3 weeks.
Hey everyone... I've been getting messages as to why my etsy page is down... I'm away until next week but it should be back up on Wednesday! Sorry for the inconvenience.
hello grettings from mexico!! i need some help and i hope you can help me, i found a récipe of how to make this kind of pomade and it says it needs emulsifying wax 7% but here in mexico is hard to find it!! do you think i could use stearic acid instead of the emulsifying wax?
Hey guys I'm back and with a new label and new recipe... Check out the new link in the description for the product and check out my video showcasing the product!

Hey John Jacob, many thanks for the video. I visited your etsy site but unfortunately shipping is way too expensive to Ireland for me :( I'm in the process of sourcing my ingredients here, can I ask do you have a background in chemistry? Or did you just have a pop at it and trial and error? Any advice would be great, it's very hard to source unorthodox water based pomade here.
ok, thanks very much. If I could ask one question, I understand you don't want to divulge any secrets but I'm wondering about the ratio of water to the oils/wax mixture. Again, I understand if you can't divulge.
Hello! Is it necessary to calculate the hlb of the formula to make the emulsion? I say it because however much I try different proportions always when taking some of the pomade once cooled water is seen on one side and does not extend well. Regards!
Nahlah Musbah right so I usually microwave the water for a min and a half and once the oils reach a temp of 185 I combine the two... The water is usually around 190 but never lower then the oil temperature... You don't want the waxes to cool down because of water.
PLEASE HELP. I made an excellent pomade, but whatever i do, i keep on getting a top layer that is 'foamy', beneath this foamy layer the pomade is perfect. I tried adjusting all the ingredients and mixing with different appliances and speeds but nothing seems to solve this problem. PLEASE advise me on what I can do to solve this? Thank you in advance!
emilio buenaventura no, e-wax doesn't make oil based pomade easier to wash off... Water based pomades are easier to wash off...e-wax is only used in water based pomade like the one I made in the video
John, it seems as tho you source most of your ingredients from the same place (based on the labels). I have thinking about delving into pomades as a hobby. Where do you get the ingredients? Thanks for the vidoe
Michael Lawrence I get the ingredients needed from vitamin shops (the oils), Amazon (the waxes), and etsy (the preservative). Everyone has their own recipe for pomades... It honestly research for the best products and trial and error.
candelilla wax have the same function with beeswax. But denser.. hope this can help www.biome.com.au/blog/diy-skincare-comparing-beeswax-and-candelilla-wax/
Hello, maybe someone will help me, I do lipstick on a water basis, and clay on a recipe from the video, but there and there the water condensate on the lid stands out. With what it can be connected? The products themselves get great, but it's the water going to the lid that confuses me. Thank you in advance for someone for the help.
A water based lipstick? You want the lipstick to adhere to lips. The purpose of making water based product it to wash off easily for hair products or for skin products to be absorbed by our skin. I don't know but a Water based lipstick is not a good idea.
+John Jacob and hey! I want to make you a descent labeling design if you want. and don't worry it's for free in exchange with this awesome vid you did. if it's okay with you.

Plastic spoons kept in while double boiling......
What makes it sticky when you rub it Along your fingers?
hey man! how long do you microwave the water for? And are the temperatures of both water and waxes the same when mixing?
Nahlah Musbah right so I usually microwave the water for a min and a half and once the oils reach a temp of 185 I combine the two... The water is usually around 190 but never lower then the oil temperature... You don't want the waxes to cool down because of water.
Is this easy to wash off since it’s water based?
I Try my recipe but it's too hard. Any Recommend for me?
BTW how can you clean up the mess?
are stearic acid mandatory for them to emulsify or is emulsifying wax enough to do the job?
BlaqOwlz the stearic acid thickens the mixture... I've never made it without but maybe I'll give it a try and make a video
how many stearic acid is enough? i heard it act as thickener and harden your mixture, i'm worried if it will harden my pomade too much.
No more than 1%
i like your video
it help me very much

emilio buenaventura no, e-wax doesn't make oil based pomade easier to wash off... Water based pomades are easier to wash off...e-wax is only used in water based pomade like the one I made in the video
