Yes definitely a video beast and pretty decent for photography. Though on BH I saw its photo bit depth is 10-bit? Or is it 12-bit for raw? I know the gh5s does 14-bit raw 10 MP.
I think it handled AF in real vlog style (moving around like crazy) really well, impressed. I think this is the absolute option for anamorphic with open gate 5.8k 50p and also multiaspectratio content creators. The moment you use an nd filter, you can work on base ISO so noise will be well controlled. I am really surprised by it!
The funny thing is, I discovered your channel way back because of the GH5. I remembered that a ton of people disliked and hated your review on that because of the wrong information you have leading to a bad review and I was one of those people. lol But after that I was actually intrigued by your other videos and I started watching you since then. I was here when you called your channel travel feels back then! Cheers matti!
I have to say that from the viewer's perspective this GH6 footage is the most enjoyable to watch out of any of the cameras you have used in a long time. Awesome skin tones.
One thing us full-frame users tend to be biased against micro 4/3 is the depth of field. At low light, while full-frame can shoot with higher ISO, we have to stop down from f1.4 to f2.8 or even f4.0 just to have more in focus while micro 4/3 can shoot at f1.8 or lower, at lower ISO and have an equivalent depth of field as full-frame f4 which means lower ISO. 😁
This is a really good point. I have a GH5 and a couple of f/1.7 & f/1.8 lenses. That would normally be too wide open for run-and-gun with a full-frame camera because it's too hard to hit focus when on the move. But with the MFT sensor I can get the light of an f/1.7 exposure but an f/3.4 depth of field, resulting in fewer out of focus shots when I don't have the time to constantly check focus. A lot of people seemed obsessed with narrow DoF, but for video, it makes life hard, and sometimes impossible if you're a solo operator and have to do everything.
That’s not how it works though. Just stop down your FF camera to 4.0, raise the ISO anyways, and you wont get more noise. Because sensor size is capable of letting the lens be 4.0 with high ISO without getting more noise than M4/3. And pls before u think I’m hating; I owned and used many incredible m4/3 lenses with the GX85 and G9. I love the system for other reasons but we need to stop misrepresenting stuff. Noise is always better on FF. Shooting at 1.7 on m4/3 at base iso isn’t always better than shooting at 4.0 on FF at raised ISO.
@@thatsreallyamoon I own a 5Ds. It's no longer manufactured, though I think it's still available new. I doubt that it's better at high ISO than my GH5s or G9 or GH5 II or GH6. Sensor size isn't as important as pixel density, and these micro four thirds cameras have a similar pixel density as the 5Ds, but much newer technology.
The full frame guys do as if video is all about shallow depth of field. you can get it also with the gh5, perhaps not that big as with a FF, but its totally enough for me. And, as I said, for me video is much more than this sdof. For ex. picture quality and transportability. And: I don't like when there is too much shallow dof, cause I want to see (at least a little bit) where my interview partner sits or stands. with that big blurry picture I never can see where he is and I don't like that.

I'd much prefer a compact full frame with solid AF... like my Sony a7C for $400 less.
That’s a great point 👍

A7C doesn't have great codec choices and the IBIS isn't as good. I have both a GH5 and an a7C. AF is better for sure, most of the time. Now if Sony threw at least 4K 60 and smoothed out the IBIS a bit. I like both but grab my GH5 because I shoot shaky footage and the LUMIX saves me...lol.
