- In this week´s van life video we navigate through the picturesque villages in the Alsace region of France. We encounter technical difficulties with our microphones but continue to explore the winding roads and beautiful scenery. We visits a sanctuary and a castle, marveling at the views and historical significance of the locations. We also explore a charming village with colorful buildings and narrow alleyways, ending our day with a visit to a surprising sight - a replica of the Statue of Liberty. The whole week gives us a sense of wonder and appreciation for the fairytale-like locations we encounter.

Apparently Kaysersberg, nearby to Riquewihr is similar, but we left that on the 'future visit' list as we felt that we would compare the 2..! 🤣 I don't think there will be much to beat that post office. I'm a little obsessed..! 🤷🏼♀️🤣

Oh wow guys...that was a fairytale place and a half. Apart from the intro, we had no idea a village THAT beautiful was coming up 😍
Really enjoyed the first couple of locations too, and was just thinking it all reminded me of Beauty and The Beast right before you mentioned Disney. While I'm sure you'd love some brighter weather, the cloudy skies and bare trees really added to the magical atmosphere there in those mountains.
But the village...sweet jesus. That's exactly what you want to see on your French travels, right? The colours and buildings were jaw dropping. I've no idea when we'll get chance to go again but I've added this straight to the must-see list ❤
Don't know about you guys, but one of our favourite things to do when we visit is see how much it costs to live there (we do it in every UK town and village), and im guessing that village is $$$$!
And we always talk about prices as you know, but we'd definitely pay the 10 euros to visit that one I think (UK parking is frequently as much in nothingy places so we're used to it!)

Yep, the village had me (Alison) at the post office. That was worth the €10 alone for me. 🤣 It was so quiet too. Like a theme park in winter. Kaysersberg is nearby and meant to be similar. We've left that on our list for next time, as we felt it couldn't compare to Riquewihr. 🤣
We often do a house price check too, but I don't think we did here..🤣 I didn't want to know as it would have ruined my dream of moving into the post office in our old age. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@findingxanadulifeour dreams are shattered most times we check house prices, wherever that may be 😂 Interesting that there are similar looking towns nearby, must be the general style in that area. As we'll be coming out of Germany towards the end of our next trip, I'm hoping we can squeeze Riquewihr and others in in the last week or two 🙏 You give us so many ideas, if only we could do them all!
Us too. We were surprised to see an apartment in Leysin, France for €132,000 recently... Until we realised that it was only 24 M²...! 🫨🤯😂🤣
We've got some great ideas from you too. My (Alison) poor phone will explode if I try saving too many more destinations on our Google maps lists. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤣🤣💜🤟
We are driving down to murcia 26 of March looking for some were different to stay that town is just the place. Love the hat it's a fedora have one very similar keep going to beautiful places do my ground work. Thanks 👍

Thanks for a very enjoyable video. Hope you visited Colmar old town, I believe it's more colourful & beautiful than Riquewihr (only because we stayed in Colmar for few nights years ago & it is stunning). Good choice for the hat, although it's definitely not a cowboy hat, more of a dress street hat. Have subscribed and will catch up on your previous videos now.
Hi Mark, firstly a massive thank you for subscribing 😁. We didn't get a chance to properly visit Colmar which is an ongoing problem, so much to see and not enough hours in the day. For now it's on the list for next time we are in the area especially since you say it's even more spectacular!
@@findingxanadulife I agree, never enough time to see these amazing towns/villages. When travelling as a tourist, time is the currency, not money.
We are hoping to be able to see more of the places now that we are permanently on the road, but we were also running away from some really miserable weather at this time too.
How much time do you get to spend travelling..?!? 💜🤟
We live in Brisbane, Australia, so travelling in Europe for us is a trip we plan well in advance. We have had 3 European trips, either 6 or 8 weeks each. Very hard to choose where to visit or stay (UA-cam travel videos were not a big thing many years ago, so couldn't get the benefit of others' experiences). Our last trip in 2019 we decided to stay for 4 + nights in certain towns/cities and use them as a base for day trips. We used trains or buses as I would not trust myself driving on the right hand side of the road, also I could not handle the different attitude of the Italian/French drivers.
