  • In this week's motorhome life video we explore an amazing canyon hike along a suspended walkway, visit what is said to be Spains must famous monastery, explore a local Spanish village while in search of food and visit a very unique village that we build by one man using nothing but scrap over the last 50 years.

This one is already on our list to visit when we are in that area, as it also has a very beautiful looking waterfall nearby. 😍

Interesting places, the dedication of building those hike paths👍. The old village, the human need to do something with themselves. Nice different places🤟

Lovely video guys ❤ While I'm sure it would've been nice to see a show in that self built village, I think it was much better that you seemed to have it to yourselves and to wander around in peace! A fascinating place and very pretty, although yes it did give the impression of stacked jenga 🙈
Covarrubias looked absolutely divine and yes very French!
I can imagine the frustration with the gopro, especially when you think youve recorded something and then it's completely gone 😬 Hopefully the new one works out better.
Given Spain was your home for so long, it's no surprise that when you return you realise how much you miss certain things - those sunny (and cheap!) lunches in a pretty village especially. Bliss. But you’ll always be returning to Spain at various points so you can come back and appreciate it.
I suppose our equivalent of the Chinese bazaars is all the Home Bargains/B&M type shops, but it's nowhere near the same! We still have a tiny water spray bottle we bought in Villajoyosa that's used exclusively to spray on sticking up hair 😂 Wouldn't do without it!
Safe travels and much love ❤🤟

      Hey Dan and StePHen..!
Alison here. You know us, we always prefer places to be less 'peopley'. 🤣 I'm sure it will happen less as the weeks go on.
Covarrubias... Total gem. A firm favourite with us. We have no doubt that we will go back again and not only for the food...
The GoPro has caused so many headaches for Darren with the editing, but we're sure it will behave itself now that it has been demoted to a B-roll and water scenario position. 🤣
Chinese bazaars, we struggled in the UK without them. I'm concerned about how we will fare on the rest of our European/World trip and what establishments will take their place....🫨
As a long term sufferer of the 'Bedhead' phenomenon, mostly thanks to Mahpiya sleeping on my head, I feel your pain. 🤣😂
May the Wayward Locks faerie visit you both often, to neaten your barnets. 😬😘
Mucho amor Alison and Darren 💜🤟

Another really good watch. I fear Darren may have found a new catch phrase to rival "stunning" though.
    "Why would you do that?"...swiftly followed by...."why wouldn't you?"😊.
Hope the GoPro behaves, its done you well thus far, but if its not behaving itself, it perhaps needs to consider it's behaviour.
Much love to you both, stay safe, and long live Finding Xanadu x

Haha Andrew you should hear some of the "Catchphrases" that get cut out of the final edits..! 🤣🤣
The GoPro has been demoted to B-roll duty. It just can't be trusted. We're not sure what it's problem is, but the misbehaving is more regular than we would like.
Much love to you and Pam. 😘💜🤟

      Hello Isra..!
Thank-you so much for taking the time to correct us. We asked at the ticket booth for information and we were sure that the lady told us it had been 50 years in the making, so we must have got it wrong and can only apologise.
We have had conflicting information about the size of the site as well. One internet article states 10,000 m² and another article says 25,000m². Please could you tell us how big the site is..?!?
Many thanks for your comment. We adored your father's creation.
Much love to you and your family. 💜🤟

Hi, really enjoying your content. My wife and I will be moving to Spain in a couple of years so have watched a lot of your videos. We are also interested in travelling around Spain and maybe wider Europe with a mobile home. Have you made, or could you make, a video about how you select where to park (are there limitations) and how you deal with the practicalities of van life (the toilet basically). Keep up the good work 👍

    • @findingxanadulife
      @findingxanadulife  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi Chris (and wife 😬)..!
We haven't made a video especially about how we chose etc, but basically 8 times or of 10 we use the "Park4Night" app and Google maps to select where we want to stay. We always have a rough area in mind, use P4N to see what is available in the area, starting with freebies, then use Google maps to double check with reviews and see if it's grass or hard standing etc. Hard standing is better for a motorhome of our size, especially if it's wet, but not needed of its been dry. If we need electricity on a heavy video editing day, we can modify the P4N search to suit. The other 2 out of 10, we find by luck or by driving past them at the time. If we are heading to somewhere that has a cost and pass a lovely area to park, we will stop, or if somewhere is full, we look for a plan B and often find one en route. It's easier in Spain as wild camping is legal. As long as you don't set up tables, chairs, awnings, laundry lines etc, you can park in most rural places without issue. There are plenty of motorhome Aires that are usually free, often have services, although some may charge a couple of euros for water, or electricity.
As for the practicalities of van life, we're spoiled. We have both a shower and toilet on board. We use both. Sometimes even when we are parked in a place with those facilities. In Spain we are never that far away from an Aire that has waste disposal facilities. We fill up with clean water, empty our grey waste water, (waste from the shower or washing up) and the black water (the toilet). We try not to use chemicals in our toilet, except in the UK where disposal facilities are thin on the ground. We prefer to empty out every day or 2. We plan our route, pull into an Aire, empty/fill and carry on with our journey. Hats off to those who live in vans without toilets. As a woman of a certain age, I couldn't be dealing with running out to wee behind a bush in my pyjamas 4 times a night. 🤣
Thanks for watching and for your questions and good luck with your planning for the future..! 😍
Much love Alison and Darren 💜🤟

Hola deben ir a Covarrubias, Burgos.

      Hi Towah..!
Alison here. So glad you enjoyed it. I tend to spend a lot of time trawling over Google maps looking for interesting or unusual things to visit. My Google news feed tends to recommend places for us, plus I also add anything that I see on social media that looks like we would like it. It's definitely not tourist season in these areas yet and we try to avoid peak times, so we can enjoy places to their fullest. 😍

We both wear Merrell hiking shoes and sandals. They're lightweight, very grippy but most importantly really comfortable and hard wearing. Darren is really tough on his shoes and his pair still lasted him 2 years of almost daily use.
