    Having clogged airbrushes puts the 'pain' into 'painting' hahaha
    actually Tim Gore's tutorial uses a lot of chip brushes instead, which is kind of interesting. But I do love my airbrushes. Just gotta practice more and get better at cleaning them out before it's too late.

    can you do a in depth video on colour matching skin with alcohol paints? I always have a super hard time with that

    • @saviswaste
      @saviswaste 8 років тому

      Gabby Jackson I usually take a chip brush and then out a shade paler,the closest match and a rosey muscle undertone color(if you have olive color I'd use that) and splatter them in layers (starting with rose color) until I'm happy. But I'm pretty sure she covers it a little in a few videos ?

    Great tutorial and what an amazing illusion you created. You didn't seem to stop and cure each layer with a heat gun or oven, is that just something you didn't film or did you paint on top of wet paint? Also I have heard the rule that one must go from light to dark with silicone flesh tones and yet you added lighter highlights though out the process even going lighter than the original casting color- something I have heard repeatedly shouldn't be done. With any discipline you have to know what the rules are so you know when to break them and why to break them. Why did you break the rule? Obviously it worked beautifully. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed watching your process. :))

  • @WitteArtistry

    Wow! Painting so thin that you can't even see what you're doing XD! Sounds like glazing in acrylic painting.
    Man watching this I realized that I know nothing about airbrushes XD
    How do you clean out silicone paint from an airbrush?
    Layers of color:
    light flesh
    blue
    green
    orange
    red
    purple
    Add Veins and repeat.
    WOW! It's crazy how many colors you put on. So the key is to do light washes then keep building up layers?
    It was so cool once you got to the more extreme red layer that you could really see the color developing!
    I noticed while painting the colors the skin started to develop "flakes" on the side of the hand? Was there just some pilled up silicone/ bumps from the hand casting there? Or what was that?
    Does adding a layer of clear silicone over the alcohol paints effect the shine or finish of the hand?
    Brilliant job!!! That looks so real! :D

    The hand itself was absolutely fantastic, however the nails threw me off a bt. Most nails have a fleshy pink undertone and are more yellow and slightly dirty from daily wear and tear and sometimes they're not as smooth. A good idea is to start with the ridges (albeit very slight) and then start with layering colors and add little details like maybe a little dirt or the cuticles aren't as manicured or they have hangnails.
    But all in all, it was absolutely amazing work and you've improved so much over the past few years. You're definitely a professional and clearly love your work (or at least have fun doing it) and it's amazing to watch what was just a lump of cheap looking silicon become a hyper realistic hand.
    I love your work and I hope you keep improving and learning.

    Can I ask what are the main differences between using silicone pigments vs alcohol Base pigments ? And one other thing what do you use to thin your silicone down ?
    I've painted with alcohol pigments but not with silicone pigments yet
    If there are some good main bennefits I'll be sure to give a go , to be honest I've got silicone pigments so I'll more than likely do it anyway.
    Keep up the good work 🖒

    • @melanie-rosannastevens7861
      @melanie-rosannastevens7861 5 років тому

      I'd think of it this way:
      Your fingernails are not made from flesh. So, when you cast a hand in silicone and you want the hand to have very long nails, you should not expect to get a realistic result with cast silicone nails. They will be floppy and soft, just like the hand itself. So, you should not try to cast long nails in silicone. It's better to put them on afterwards
