FuseFX inventor and Master Silicone Artist Guy Louis-XVI, demostrates how to paint a Hyper Realistic silicone face using FuseFX M-Series silicone paint colors and WS Matting Powder.
is there a way to correct a bad paint job. i have a silicone doll with a super red blotchy red face done by her maker. i like a peaches and cream complexion
What do you find the best way is to keep your airbrush unclogged? When I've been spraying for any reasonable amount of time the silicone hardens inside the airbrush.
Thanks Gary, I was initially using dragon skin and tolulene/naphtha, and found that the setting time was way too fast. When i switched to a slow setting silicone, I had fewer issues with clogging brushes. Might switch to using many cheap airbrushes instead of one really nice one in the future.
Sorry to hear of his passing. First time seeing a video showing how to paint silicone with silicone paints while using an actual brush and not just an airbrush. Great video!
Guy was legendary in the FX world, which tbh is a fairly close knit community, he had battled an illness for a long time but unfortunately succumbed to it - he was a great guy and his loss will be felt for a long time, rest well Guy.
This is a great video. Looks like this silicone paint mix cures slow enough the worry of it gumming up my airbrush is not existent. I know gel-10 drys to fast for me to be comfortable putting in a high dollar airbrush. Not sure on smooth on's version. Anyone know cure time differences?
Forgot to ask,, does your silicone paint work with Gel10? i know thats probably a dumb question but i wanted to know before i started working on a project
Isn't it? I never would have thought to use blue on the lips either! Though, it makes sense. It tones down the red so it isn't so "loud". Haha! Tons of great tips to be used in this video.
Just one more question: If I use the matting powder (as shown in your video), the whole piece does look like skin with a lot of dandruff on it after washing and drying the whole thing. People told me that I might used too much matting powder but I used it exactly the same way as in your video. I'm clueless since it's annoying when you have beautiful painted piece which is then ruined by this dandruffy look. I just apply the stuff over the wet last clear coat.
Great video i must say! I have only one question... I work with Platsil GE10 and I want to work now with an airbrush, can you recomend any solvents to use ( similar ot the same you are using in the video ) Thank up front for the answer Great video once again !
Hi Guy! I had just one try with your paint system and I am amazed by it's simplicity and the amazing results! Some difficulties I had when working: - What working time does a color (partA & B already mixed) have? When I mixed part A and B, it dried very very quickly, I had only roughly a minute working time. Is this normal? Perhaps I work too slow :( - The solvent I used was toluene. This stuff is strongly etherial so the solvent is gone fast and the paint itself cures so quick. Thanks!
Hi! I am going to make a silicone mask, it's not a monster mask, it's a cosplay mask that will be more like a "beauty" mask. The mask will have "makeup", you know, eyeshadow and eyeliner, what kind of paint would you use? I need something that makes it veeery black and pigmented. Is it hard to paint with a brush? Can you paint sharp lines with a brush? I have never painted silicone before, this video is helpful, but you just make translucent layers, I would like to know how to do strong colours with sharp lines... Can you mix in acrylic paint into the silicone the mask was created with to make a strong color and then brush a clear, thin coat of silicone on top to seal it? Take care!
Smooth-on makes a silicone paint base called Psycho Paint. You add the pigment you want to that and air brush or hand paint. You can probably pigment and thin about any silicone and use it as a paint too. Acrylic craft paint and silicone won't work. Buy the proper silicone pigment..
regular paint would rub off since nothing stick to silicone except for silicone. as for your second question, do you mean what kind of paint, or what kind of silicone?
RIP Guy. I loved your work and your products.
Oh wow, very interesting to watch even though ive just discovered this 10 yrs later! very helpful for painting silicone reborn dolls.
Why does selpco peel after it is painted? With the brush 😢 What materials
Wow !! Guy, thank you so much for this video !
awesome video! Buying some of those paints right about...now.
Try Naptha ( Home Depot or Lowes carries it in the paint section), make sure you wear a mask & in a well ventilated area
this is insanely good
I applied that. Why does the silicone coating peel off from the surface of the face? What is the reason for that?
what kind of silicone is recomended? nice work very realistic,,, thanks
Its like watching god make a beautiful woman... its just so amazing.. :D

Justin Poulsen You need to disassemble and clean it after painting.

its just part A plus colour? no A+B plus colour and thinner?
Hey, the part B is already mixed in with the pigments so only requires part A as an addition.
Eternal Masks Great! Thank You.
I love you you ar amizng

When painting with silicone paints should i be wearing a respirator or face masks? Because a website said so on Google.

if you read the comments you would realise he passed on, over a year ago
How do you know he's dead!¬!?
its creepy how real it looks
Should we shake the pigments before using them?
How much is it for the raw silicone?
Guy was a wonderful person and a brilliant artist.

Why does selpco peel after it is painted? With the brush 😢 What materials
how did he pass???
Great tutorial! 5/5!
Very very very talent!
Auf galileo hab ich leider nicht geguckt
so weird
Ok, hmmmmmmmm. Part A is what... a gloss, color of clear or what?
Shawna C. probably just silicone so the paint sticks to the face
JapanophileKangaroo What causes the paint to come off of the silicone? Hmmmm. What kind can you use to paint it on by hand?
regular paint would rub off since nothing stick to silicone except for silicone. as for your second question, do you mean what kind of paint, or what kind of silicone?
JapanophileKangaroo Sure... but, I thought they made one that could stick to silicone Hmmmmmm.
Not sure, but I have never had any luck with anything except using the silicone paint mixed with silicone.
Excellent demo ! Really learned a lot ! Thanks !!!
