Subaru Forester Master Window Switch Replacement DIY

- This video goes over the easy replacement of a master window switch for a 1999 Subaru Forester. The process is similar for a 1998 - 2002. I replaced mine due to issues with the passenger windows all not working. Once the switch was replaced, all windows began working again.

Thanks for the vid. Gotta see if cleaning the contact points will work on my impreza.
This is so helpful. Where did you purchase the replacement part?
I got the window switch on Amazon. The link to this part is in the video description.
Thank you. You saved me a ton of money
I'm glad the video was helpful for you!
Looking for video with replacement instructions of rear window switch,2019 Subaru forester
I’m curious if the individual switches started working again after you replaced the master switch?
They started working again since they all go through the master switch.
@@FoulNews thanks so much for your reply and this video. I had a similar issue pop up this week and I’m just waiting for a replacement master switch to arrive, and hope it starts controlling one of the rear windows again.
@@ErinHardy-ww3di No prob! Hopefully it does the trick! If not, it could be the switch for the rear window, motor, or wiring.
The right rear window of my 2005 Forester got stuck halfway down last week and neither switch would control it. I had just finished detailing it to sell - ironic timing. I took it to my mechanic and they said motor had burned out, so I had them replace it. Window is now up but doesn’t work. It’s the only motor I haven’t replaced in the car in 7 years of ownership, so hoping it’s a switch issue and not electrical. I also ordered a replacement switch for right rear door just incase that switch is also bad. Thanks again for your helpful video and advice.
I bought this same one. Only the driver one worked. All the others didn't work.
If they still don't work after the replacement, the individual switches themselves may be bad, or the wiring to each window might be bad as well. It should take a few minutes to diagnose if it's the switch by removing the other switches and jumping the connections to see if the motor actuates.
@@FoulNews With the old switch, they all worked except the rear right. With the new, only the driver worked.
