A lot comes down to what a driver appreciates. I really liked my gt350 but after 3 years I felt like it was lacking something. I swapped it out for my ‘14 gt500 and it’s just way more exciting to drive!! I have no plans to ever sell it …. There’s nothing newer that checks the boxes better for me. You made some great points

This! Newer ain't always better and the grass ain't always greener on the other side. There are alot of people out there that could learn a thing or two from this. Always thinking they gotta have the latest newest model when the truth is the best days of true drivers cars that are fully modifiable are behind us. Newer isn't better.

I have recently been looking into GT350s due to also being in the same price range... kinda.. lol but also been hearing good things and the crazy conundrum i an in is that when i purchase either 1 of the 3 (being 11-12 GT500, 13-14 GT500, or GT350) i get not knowing driving manual proficiently is i want to buy right the first time. And im just stuck at the moment but i have time to think and see which might be better for me.

S197 is a driver's car. You have to know what you're doing as far as driving the car balls to the wall to be able to handle it.

Yep. I’ve had a bone stock 07 GT500 for going on 6 years now that I’m finally going into and changing some things on. It takes some finesse to drive one fast in stock form. The Goodyear F1 Supercar tires mine came with are wholly inadequate. The car is heavy and unbalanced. There’s no driving modes and stability control to save you. I have newer cars with way more power that aren’t as exciting. Just a different experience.

@@DucknCoverin I've had my 08 for 10 years and will never sell it. It's such a amazing chill cruising car and as much as people criticize it, the plastic interior and live rear axle just adds to the old school vibe. It's the last generation raw mustang IMO

If you want carplay or android auto that bad you can just get a base stereo car and put an aftermarket deck into it. I agree though these powder puffs these days are so worried about their 15 inch screen and digital clusters and auto trans with 150 gears in them people have gotten away from what made cars great. These cars still had that.

I feel the same way. When I'm done paying off my s550. A gt500 is what I'm going to get myself into next. I don't know how to drive a manual sufficient yet but i know how to get it in first and take off. Gonna train myself on it and have fun doing it and take care of it as well. Appreciate the input but i don't see myself getting the newer ones anytime soon. I like the newer gt500s but that price tag is out of my range. I'll be looking for 13-14 but if i find a clean 2012 i would get that as well.

If you are going to mod it go with a 5.4 car. They hold up better at elevated power levels and are much better bang for the buck imo.

The new mustang is not a good option unless you're happy keeping it stock and being limited on mods. The tuning thing is going to kill them and people are really overlooking that. Dark horse would have good potential if the ecu wasn't locked down with over the air updates. Not to mention it had a huge tablet stuck to the dash posing as a gauge cluster and looks more like a 2015 mustang than an all new mustang. Overall the new mustang is an epic fail.
Far as the active exhaust they make aftermarket mufflers that do that too it isn't just the fancy new cars that have that they just come with it stock. That stuff doesn't matter anyways if you're worried about that you aren't the kind of enthusiast that should consider an s197 gt500 or any s197 for that matter. These cars are bad to the bone and fully tunable. Best of all they don't have a 25 inch tablet glued to the dash in place of an actual gauge cluster. A man is definitely not missing out having an s197 gt500 instead if an s650.

"A dying breed"? That's exactly what they said about the Shelby Mustangs back in 1970. Look at them now. You wouldn't have the current gen Shelbys if the S197s weren't great cars.
