I thought I'd take a couple cameras along for the ride and go over some of the reasons on why I think a 2014 (or 2013) SVT Shelby GT500 Mustang is a pretty good buy. These reasons were what sold me on the car 3 months ago and as times are changing for the worse, I think this generation of GT500 will be highly sought after as the years go on. Let me explain...

I couldn’t agree more. I got my 2013 GT500 with 7500 miles for 48,500 in December of 2020. All summer I got calls from the dealership that I bought the car from offering me more money than what I bought the car for. This baby is staying with me forever though.

Man you got a great deal! I traded in my 11 GT500 with just over 9,000 MI, for a 2014 GT500 with just over 13,000 mi and I still paid 51 for the 14 and I just now had it over a year now.

The dealership wants to get you in the door. Unless the offer has been signed off by the sales manager the second you walk in they will offer less. Trust me. Never let those slimes talk you into taking in your car. Keep her and enjoy the drive. The way Carroll intended. If after years pass and you put a ton of miles on her and some dude comes along and wants to pay obscene money since a working Shelby are super uncommon... then you can think about parting with her. Enjoy the drive.

Boy this didn’t age well. People who over paid applying the lube to rub each other out. Prices are falling these cars are sitting unsold they can even sell new mustangs. It’s a ford not a Ferrari. Cheap plastic interior. Low quality leather seats. And a clunky solid rear axel boy that screams investment. Anyone who paid 48k for an 8 year old car that sold for 53-59k new should be ashamed nor jerk themselves off. You got taken and are bragging that’s an idiot

I can attest that the engine is bulletproof. I've had mine in Germany the last 6 years and the only thing negative that has happened is one of the plastic coolant caps let a little coolant blow out. I cleaned it off and everything is good to go and she continues to ride between 120 to 150+ MPH on the autobahns. There are very few sections of the autobahns where you can get near 200 MPH as there is always some sort of maintenance going on or you run into someone who shouldn't be in the left lane.

I have a 2013 deep impact blue/no stripe glass roof GT500. I see nothing but upside in price for these. When I first went to buy one from new, the dealer wanted 25K over sticker and I told him he was nuts and I ceased to look for one because prices were out of control and finding the specifications that I wanted I knew wasn't going to happen. But I continued to look around and about a year later, I sourced one that was up for sale at a dealer out of state in Iowa. It had 3700 miles on it and I knew it was what I looking for. The negotiated sales price was $59K on an example that originally had a sticker price of just under $70 K. Mine is a garage queen ( I know, but I do have a small collection) and now has 4000 miles on it. Per the Marti report it is 1 out of 7 made as mine is. Thanks for the always informative and fun videos.

Damn right it’s a solid investment. 2010-14 is the best class Mustangs created, not to mention how cool these cars look. Even if they lose value they’re still just a beautiful car to own and will never go out of style.

For now, 2006 and newer Mustangs aren't losing their value. In fact. They are appreciating!! I picked up my 12'GT in 2015 for $23,900. All computer cars go out of style. I have a 2003 Mustang GT converted to 15" wheels and real tires that I use as a transportation car. It is already out of style, and has lost most of it's original MSRP value, despite being in excellent condition. I just wanted a relatively inexpensive V8 powered 2 door rear wheel drive American car with a solid rear axle, and the Mustang was the only real choice.

    • @steelwill78
      @steelwill78 2 роки тому +2

@@geraldscott4302 Wrong..your 2003 Body style is out of style but the 2010-14 Mustang body style is classic and will never go out of style. These models were designed to look similar to the old Shelby Mustangs, that’s another reason why they’re so popular and a good collectible. Nobody is collecting 2003 Mustangs lol

Excellent video, couldn't agree with you more! I bought the car for exactly the same reasons you saw in it. Mine had 20K on the odometer and is a convertible and paid 56k for it about a year ago. I think they are the last of their breed solid axle manual transmission and big horsepower. What a more perfect recipe for a great driver experience. I am an older guy 60 years old but raced karts in my younger years and snagged a couple of big trophies at regional events in the kart world and I say that because this car reminds of the experience I got when racing karts. Not not that they are that similar in specs, but the adrenaline rush you get when driving this car is similar to doing close to 100mph in a kart with your butt half an inch off the pavement and drafting somebody a quarter inch off their bumper. It's the adrenaline rush you get whether it's trying to beat somebody on the track or handling big horsepower mustang when it's trying to Buck you off LOL

Amen, 35yo here. Purchased my '13 Jan. 2020 for $50k after tax n tags ($46,5xx before) Performance pack option, NO TP/Recaro's/Nav/Sub. Purchased with 13,162mi, now around 15,750mi. Last of the GT500 manuals and the last car Carroll himself helped design.... It is ONLY going to go up in value.
Can get about $51-53k right now and that is only going up with minimal added miles. Winter time in NEPA anyways. With that said, am trying to order a '22 CFTP GT500 right now. Working my ass off to hopefully keep the '13, but may have to part in order to get this at time of delivery.

10 Reasons the 13/14 GT500 is the best.
    1) First Mustang to reach 200 mph stock
    2) Reaches 60 mph in first gear
    3) No gas tax and gets 26 MPG HWY
    4) Last (at this time) manual GT500
    5) Engine, suspension, brakes, drive shaft all upgraded
    6) Can compete with cars double the price
    7) All new set up compared to 07-12 Shelbys
    8) Gears are tall so it's an excellent cruiser
    9) No major issues like engine (GT350) or transmission (MT82)
    10) Finally, Carroll Shelby made Mustang really shine in the 1960s. While Ford did most of the work after 1966, this was the last Shelby he saw and rode in, stating how great and special it was. His dream was to build a race car the average working man could afford. I feel like the 13/14 GT500 is the result of that dream. It was bought in the high 50s and lower 60s and could smoke 150k cars.

2yrs ago I was heavily looking for a 13-14 as prices were still sub $40k. Current car market everything is worth more but the 13-14 have plateaued. They'll do nothing but go up in value. Now on manuals and high hp cars, they just don't mix. Stability suffers massively due to the upset between shifts. Don't count out the possibility of a sequential transmission in a future Cobra, to give owners the feel of going through the gears.

NO computer car will ever be a solid buy. They will always depreciate, especially when all those computer parts become unavailable. A completely original stock 1967 Shelby GT500 would be a great buy, and will continue to appreciate forever. They are also a LOT more fun to drive, although I consider them to be too valuable to drive very much. It's not just their monetary value, but their rarity. If you destroy one, it is irreplaceable. With the new ones, at least if you destroy one, you haven't destroyed anything but a bunch of computer parts.

2014 Shelby GT500 is the last true Shelby mustang. The last car the great Carroll Shelby had input on. The last true muscle car. 15 and up are European style sport car.

I owned a 13 and 14 mustang, moved to a 15 gt and now a 19 bullitt and am currently borrowing a buddies 14gt and can confidently say I will never own another s197 chassis ever again. Unless you are absolutely infatuated with it’s looks it’s worse than a s550 in every measure. I understand it’s older but comparing a 14 to a 15 feels like a 10 year gap not 1

Since you mentioned your experience I’ll mention mine, I bought a 2017 GT350 first and the 2014 GT500 later. I can confidently say it’s not obsolete, just a different era. There’s things to appreciate about both generations.

Doubt. Before all this “chip shortage” talk, the last of the manual Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc. where sky rocketing. Can you imagine a GT500 without a manual?!! (among the other things mentioned) Crazy we even live in that world. She’s a classic now and will only continue to be appreciated. Time will tell but there’s just no chance it will be worth any less than it is now in 5 or 10 years time. But since you think otherwise, just how low do you think it will go?

Dude drive it. At 48,500 you may pat yourself on the back for it's low mileage, but no one is going to give you a second glance if they are looking for low mileage examples. Maybe once the car is 30 years old and kept in mint shape and they are rolling that bad boy up to the auction at Barrett Jackson will you get investment type of dollars returned. What I am saying is drive her. Be gentle, but drive her. Enjoy the car.
