The most polite gentleman we ever met. Best wishes, Mark. Stay healthy.
My dad was Mark's football coach in HS. Mark was a tremendous athlete who could have played Div. 1 football. He played linebacker but also played fullback his senior year when the starting fullback went dowb, nearly leading the league in rushing despite not starting the entire year (future Tennessee star Chuck Webb led the league). Great competitor.
He never had a problem with being humble and honest- he was just as honest as any fighter back then, if not more for actually saying he was looking for drugs for the pain, and he was MORE humble than most fighters. Being hung over and brain fried doesn’t mean arrogant and dishonest. Everyone is dishonest to a degree- just pick apart any conversation and see how much somebody is being 100% honest. Meanwhile, you have these jackasses that talk as if no fighter can ever be scared. Even if Kerr was the ONLY one, ever scared to be in the cage (which of course he’s obviously not)... how does that make him an ass hole or something Frye or anyone needs to be pissy about? Sure, rip him for being unprepared for Brock’s training, but for admitting he was scared? How fucking stupid. I met him and he was cool but seemed quite punch drunk already. Not to sharp. Good guy, just not the first I would listen to about understanding somebody else. Keeping that attitude about Kerr to this day is really thick and simple.
The thing I like about Kerr is as flawed as he is, he is HONEST about his flaws. He openly admits his mistakes and his fears. This is a guy who did a film showing his extrememe drug and steroid abuse while still competing at the top of mma.. He even showed how he was cheating on drug tests etc. you don't get any more open and honest than pitting that shit on camera. How many guys would ever admit they cheated while still competing and show that kind of behavior?!! Most guys would hide every single one if those things even after their careers were over.

He may have done some bad things in his past when addiction was in control of his actions, but he seems like a truly honest and humble man now. All too often people will lie and try to make themselves out to be some kind of street thug that had hundreds of street fights before turning pro, and most of the time it's total shit. I like that he admits his own personal shortcomings. There's no shame in it because we all know what kind of beast he was in the cage and ring.

Mark Kerr is another legend of MMA say what you will and he also had it pretty rough, good to see him now looking amazing. I really like Don Frye but man this guy looks special.
The reason Kerr came across in the ring as he did was because he had an incredibly high adrenaline response to the tournament situation, which causes people to feel afraid and apprehensive. It sounds ridiculous, but lots of good fighters get it, and it makes them behave in different ways to counteract it. Ali would trash-talk and taunt, Rousey put her ridiculous badass act on, and Kerr just pumped himself up to be an agressive violent beast. After the fight was over he went back to being a nice guy. Unfortunately the drugs, steroids, and opiates blurred the line between the guy in the ring and the guy outside, which became his downfall.
I don't know all the ins and outs of his life, only from Smashing Machine and interviews. He seems like a genuinely good dude and I hope the best for his life. I don't know if he's actively involved in the business now, but he would be a good coach. After watching Don Frye's interview about him, I think Don just makes himself look bad.
Love both Kerr and Frye. In a fight between both prime versions, the Prime Kerr (roided) that dominated in Brazil and in The UFC, would have beaten Frye worse than Coleman did.
...back in the days there was no testing and almost everyone was using steroids , including don frye . Kerr admited openly about it , but i dont need all the others to admit something that was generalised back in the days of UFC and PRIDE , and using roids helps recup faster and gives you more strenght , that's all , because the rest (technic, quickness , precision , timing , fluidity and experience) comes from practice , hard work , training and lots of will ...steroid does not do the work for you , even if ti helps recup , your the hard worker .

Wow, nice down to earth and respectful guy. Took responsibility for his irresponsibility with Brock.Very cool. Maybe Don will see this and think a little differently about him now.
Cool dude. Went to same high school on the east side Toledo, Ohio. To us younger kids he was the man, football and wrestling. He's absolutely right, never fought a high school fight. Never had to. The only one on our side of town that would of whooped his ass was Gary Burgess!!! Ask him. He'll tell you.
Getting into some bar fight as a professional fighter is like the late Diego Maradona (arguably greatest soccer player) agreeing to play on a field of dung kicking around a ball filled with sand. The athlete could have a career ending injury for nothing, others would have a huge laugh at his expense and he would be destroying his reputation in lowering himself to that.
Kerr has a good disposition and is handed this really well. Don is popular, and he's funny, so it wouldn't look good to be over serious about anything he said
Prime vs. prime, Kerr was MUCH bigger and heavily roided. It would probably look like Coleman vs. Frye...and Frye was too small in that fight. That said, if Kerr started gassing and Frye survived long enough, I can see him coming back and winning.

I agree that Kerr probably would've beaten Frye, but I think that Coleman was a more vicious and brutal fighter than Kerr.
damn. mark kerr might’ve squandered more than a few opportunities, im sure he has some epic times to make up for it but he is the epitome of mixed martial arts ground n pound no matter what! and i bet hes killin it as a dad right now, very happy for him.
I grew up in the same neighborhood as Mark. He is a nice dude.
Lovely guy. Hope you're keeping okay Mark
mark kerr was smart to stay out of street fights.
The irony of “the smashing machine” and avoiding fights your whole life… I’ve always liked MK as a fighter. The more interviews he does, the more I think he’s a good person who likes the physicality of man vs man sport and had a pretty good run at it. Seems like a really good dude!
Legend.
Don Frye is a freaking stud.
I like Mark. He takes accountability. I greatly respect that.
The smashing machine brutally honest .
Kerr is very honest and humble
I’d love to have seen a few of Mark Coleman’s street fights 😳😳
I hope Mark gets everything he wants in life.
First time seeing Kerr fight years ago then hearing him speak, I said this dude looks & sounds like the Mike Tyson of MMA only way bigger & smarter.
Woah, I was just wondering how Mark is doing. Nice! He looks well.
Wow, nice down to earth and respectful guy. Took responsibility for his irresponsibility with Brock.Very cool. Maybe Don will see this and think a little differently about him now.
Kerr was one of the best ever.
Prime vs Prime, No piss tests...Kerr is the GOAT IMO
Hannibal laughed at Frye’s comments like he didn’t believe ‘em.
Respect to Mark Kerr for this
I love the smashing machine what a great guy I hope he is doing good
Mark Kerr is a beautiful human being.
I love the humility
It’s more manly to apologise when you are wrong than drinking water from horse’s barrel
Frye been watching too many John Wayne movies. Kerr could kick 99.9% of peoples ass but reveals with honesty. Stay sober Kerr!
I went to school with him too
Like his honesty
Wow, I thought he would be DEAD for sure with his Steroid and Drug Use. Amazing Turnaround. I hope it is a consistent behaviorial change.
Is this doco guna happen. This guys got a great story Nd hope he’s doing well
Ill always love mark kerr man, the smashing machine baby
Kerr seems like he's in a really good place here. I hope he stays there.
Even doing violent shit he always seemed like a good guy
Getting into some bar fight as a professional fighter is like the late Diego Maradona (arguably greatest soccer player) agreeing to play on a field of dung kicking around a ball filled with sand. The athlete could have a career ending injury for nothing, others would have a huge laugh at his expense and he would be destroying his reputation in lowering himself to that.
Wow. One cool customer this guy is. Man, what a world he dominated....
Mark seems much smarter and more thoughtful that Don Fry
Kerr has a good disposition and is handed this really well. Don is popular, and he's funny, so it wouldn't look good to be over serious about anything he said
Kerr is going to end up on Rogan sooner or later. I’d say sooner.
Hopefully
Kerr would probably beat Don 10 out of 10 times. And I love Don.
@Brad Lincoln absolutely not.
Prime vs. prime, Kerr was MUCH bigger and heavily roided. It would probably look like Coleman vs. Frye...and Frye was too small in that fight. That said, if Kerr started gassing and Frye survived long enough, I can see him coming back and winning.
Mark never talks smack about anyone. He is always friendly and forthright. I'm sure with his addiction issues he's left a lot of sour feelings.
