how could you not after what Takayama did takes brass balls to do that.
Takayama is currentily a paraplegic , Don visits him some times .
@@liquidsnake6879 Your username reminded me of a random factoid. The Godzilla film Don Frye starred in, was directed by "Ryuhei Kitamura", who also directed the cutscenes for the gamecube Metal Gear Solid remake.
Kyle Cooper, the UI designer for the later MGS games, also worked on the film.
Takayama also pummeled the shit out of Frye
Frye is a true competitor with a Warrior’s mentality, there’s so much respect and humility for the ones they’ve fought and competed against.
Don was hard as nails, yet he epitomises humbleness and decency. His fight with Yoshihiro is the stuff of legends, in which he took the slightly lesser of two beatings, yet he puts all the praise on his opponent. A true legend in every way.
Frye is one of the GOATs based off his attitude alone. as is Takayama, heartbreaking to see what happened to him
@Goon GillunsWhat happened?
@@thothamon9046 didn't know, thanks. Very unfortunate
Yeah don talked about it in this very interview
Yeah it’s pretty missed up to takayama he’s a man too he doesn’t deserve it
@@Jc-ww5kg Takayama suffered a terrible injury during a wrestling match and got paralyzed from his neck down. Since then, he's been getting visited by Frye and Bob Sapp at the hospital
I met Don at the Tucson Airport. He was great. He had a promo pic of himself and he signed it for me. Wonderful dude.
Heart goes out to Yoshihiro Takayama-San 🙏🏻

When Don Frye shaves. The razor taps out
When this guy was in his prime..hell even now at his age. He is one of the last dudes on the planet you wanna piss off while your at the bar
Not as good as he once was, but good once as he ever was
Him and Mike, I don't want to mess with these two even at their 90s
@@reeeeee987 fr fuck that.
I would buy him a shot of whiskey and a beer. I would just say thankyou for the great fights man putting it on the line 👍 the man was the baddest of badasses. They don't have fighters like him anymore.
Reminds me if my uncle, dudes like that just have a look in their eye, like a hungry lion just waiting for you to start shit at the bar 😂
I'm still in recovery from watching the Frye vs Takayama fight. Thanks for your prayers.
This guy comes across as being cool as shit. ~Respect
That's because he IS cool as shit!
My shit is usually warm 🥸
"I think the bell rang for a week" love it. I love this guy,as modest & kind as he is tough.
I met Don a few days ago by random chance. He was at a venue we played. It was the highlight of the night for me, to meet this legendary warrior. He was humble, didn't want a bunch of attention. But took the time to take pictures with those who recognized him and was just the coolest.
this dude is a real cool ass dude man. god bless him. his laugh is so genuine.
This dude looks like a lumberjack who only drinks whiskey
That's one of the prototype alpha males.
He looks like a lumberjack who puts whiskey on his corn flakes and washes it down with vodka
And eats cigars for a snack
Fairly positive Ron Swanson was based on this man.
Lol
Some people could learn a think or two from this man. Dignity. Respect. Fortitude. Humility. Glad he made it through to reminisce over it. Great guy !
When a commentator states a fact about That fight being one of the best and his immediate response is “thank you.” Shows how true he is. Humble and proud.
Don Frye - absolute class all the way......For one of the toughest men alive he is so honourable and respectful....
Yes sir, such a legend
Don is my favorite MMA fighter. I wrote to him back in the day 1998 and he actually wrote back with good advice and sent me 2 autographed photos and a Superman pin.
Takayama is in a bad place. Prayers for him and his.

Holly crap. That was the best ever. Brought tears to my face to see so much respect for each other.
2:21 A sigh of regret after Don realizes Takeyama is no longer "walking the planet" as he had just stated.
Swallow sadness like a boss
I noticed that, good call.
What a Man huh ??

What an amazing interview with Don Frye, one of the greatest fighters ever. You can tell from the interview that he's also a true gentleman, humble to the core.
Holy shit, that fight was nuts! Bro that's insane, the ref was even crying, because he realized at that moment,
he was witnessing,
one of the best fights ever.

Don Frye, a real cowboy! So humble and a great man! So underrated.
What a humble man. Real gentleman. God bless him.
I’ve watched MMA for years and I’m just learning about Don Frye, what a man, great character and sportsman! Thank you for the interview.
Keep looking at these classic guys bud! Many stories similar to Don. Really amazing guys willing to suffer so much pain in order to reach “glory” much much longer careers back then now as well. Not to mention multiple nights in one night. Incredible era of mma fighting

😂😂😂😂😂 goddam...so true
Imagine being so badass that you fought this man and he acknowledges you and respect you dearly. What a beast Takayama.
That knee by Takayama when Frye was trying to get up was one of the most brutal knees I've ever seen.

Dudes an absolute legend. Forever respect. Back when MMA was super hardcore. Greatest match of all time. I saw this fight for the first time only recently and couldn’t believe my eyes! My mind was blown away 🤯 Frye is the MMA 🐐
I feel so lucky to have been able to watch him from the beginning..... I think I enjoy his interviews even more than his fights!
what a awesome guy don frye is, so humble, so polite.
What an incredible man. So thankful for the recognition and appreciation for the things he is being acknowledged for. The interviewer is embarrassing himself but Don is a truly a treasure. Bless him and Takayama. Takayama-San deserves so much more than the hand he was delt but he continues to live and be positive. Truly an incredible man. Stay strong big guys
Don Frye and Yoshihiro Takayama are legends!!

These Japanese pro-wrestlers were simply insane. They would accept any challenges, trained or not, fair or not, they'd just go.
