Great video! This solved my low pressure problem. (While you have this apart, clean out the cold water filter screen also.) Thanks for your expert help!
This video is still relevant 5 years later, thank you!! One note on the newer models: the filter may be located on the other end of the hose (where it connects to the hot water line). You can tell because the part inserted into the black box will be much slimmer and does not contain the filter. If that’s the case, you won’t even need to disconnect it from the box and can work just at the other end. On the other end you’ll find a small basket-like filter that can be cleaned with a toothbrush. Mine didn’t look that gunked up, but after cleaning it, there was a huge difference in the hot water pressure from the faucet.
Thanks @Max-md6yk. I read your comment after I discovered no filter at the "Case" end of the line. The filter at the supply end is micro tiny. No wonder it clogs. Good design improvement on Moen's part - much easer to access at the supply valve end.
Keith, this was a lifesaver. I recently changed the pressure relief valves on my water heater. After that, the hot water on my faucet for hot would not come out as before. After trying several items that I had read, I found your video, it resolved the problem. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Keith! I did not realize that there was even a filter in these lines until I saw your video. I suddenly had the hot water drop off to practically nothing and after watching your video I was easily able to make the repair in just a few minutes. Thank you for posting. Great work!
Even with 2 people we were struggling to press the ring and pull the line. My husband came up with the idea of getting zip ties to hold the ring down while he pulled out the line. It worked surprisingly well. Just a tip in case you are by yourself trying to attempt this repair! Thanks for making the video, it helped a ton to visualize what we were supposed to do!
Awesome. Saved me a plumber visit but the plastic filter was connected and wouldn’t come out. So broke it off lol and problem solved. Not sure if the filter is really needed.
Keith, thank you for your easy to follow instructions. We remodeled our kitchen in October 2018; about a month after we'd installed a Moen wave sense faucet, the hot water began to trickle out. We had a plumber take a quick look and he couldn't find any problem. My husband hated our very expensive faucet because of the hot water issue. After finding your video, I was able to clean out the filter without damaging the fancy manicure I got the day before, LOL. There was a very small piece of rust in it - cleaning it out did the trick.
THANK YOU!! YOU ROCK. I have been trying to find some information about how to get the dang water line out, where to depress, etc. THANK YOU again for taking the time to do this video!
Had some difficulty depressing the ring and pulling the supply line but the extra set of hands did the job. Great Video, thanks so much for posting it!
It's a good video, but it doesn't always work that well for me. Even though I have the model with the filter on the valve end, I still have to pull the box all out. I have a lot of issues trying to pull the connector out of the box. I found using a small box end wrench to depress the ring, then using a pair of needle nose pilers to pull out the connector out of the box helps. The brass ends corrode a lot
Appreciate u, Famz. No removable filter but blew it, the connector line then reconnected and have hot water again instead if waiting for Srs Home Improvement to get back to me next week. GiveThanks!
Keith, thank you so much for taking the time to post this video. You saved me a trip charge from my home warranty company. It was super easy to fix and a replacement faucet!
Thanks for the video. You might need to flush your hot water tank as that's where the water is getting heated and the particles are probably from the sacrificial anode.
Thanks for sharing! This fixed my hot water issue great. Had a new hot water tank installed so sediment from the old/new one must’ve gunked it up. Thanks again man.
Thanks for posting this video Keith! I had a plumber come out first but he could not solve the problem. I was about to order a replacement faucet but I then decided to go on UA-cam! Your video helped me solve the problem! I found it easier to use an adjustable wrench to press down the ring instead of my fingers. I am about to buy a water softener system to prevent this happening in the future and throughout my new home!
Kieth, Thank you so much for showing me how to unplug the hoses, and clean the filters. My cold line was running slowly, it is now pretty much back to normal. I ordered 2 new in line filters and will install them when they arrive. Appreciate your help.
This helped me a lot, thank you! BTW, mine popped out with the ring depressed but was still stuck. I was a little worried to break it but I kept trying and finally got it out with way too much force. Nothing seems to be broken though so if anyone else has that problem and it has popped out about a half inch or so you may need to muscle it too.
Hello… I have the same faucet. Both sensor and the traditional way of operating the faucet are not working. Have cleaned the filters, replaced batteries with new ones… still not working. Any suggestions? It’s weekend and I can’t even get moen technical department. Am stuck now. All ideas would be welcomed. Thanks
The house we purchased had this already installed. One year later, the faucet is not totally shutting off and a small stream of water comes out and can't shut it off with handle or motion sensor. The handle appears loose and the sleeve next to the handle pulls away exposing the insides. I don't know how to tighten this back. There is a hole which may hold an Allen screw/bolt but I have to blindly insert and cant tell if an Allen wrench is doing anything since it is up against the kitchen wall. Does anyone have any information on this?
there are 2 rings - a white ring and a gray ring - which one is depressed - I have tried both pushing both rings in and pulling on water line to remove and it will not release to detach -
Oh man, THANK YOU! I was all prepared to start a major investigation into my low water pressure and this saved me a boatload of time and frustration. Great video! THANKS AGAIN!
Thanks for your great video. I could not find any info on those screens in the hoses of a moen touchless faucet. Mine was the cold side, not the hot but your instructions made it easy to fix.
Thank you for demonstrating that we need an extra pair of hands to get these filters out! I have the installation guide that simply states "push up on retaining ring and pull down supply hose." I've been struggling with doing this on my own for an hour! I'll wait until I can get a friend to help.
I had the same problem, even after looking at the instructions on the Moen site, which states, "To remove the hot and cold supply lines from the control box, hold the grey ring down that's located on the black control box where the hose goes into it and pull out on the hose. Click here for an image of the grey ring." I pulled the gray ring down (toward the floor of the cabinet, away from the box), and tugged on the hose. It didn't budge. It was only when I asked my husband for help pulling the hose down while I pulled the gray ring up (toward the box) that he was able to pull it out.
I have had the faucet 2 years and have only done it once. Odds r there is a ton of impurities in your water. I also have a water filter that my well water runs through.
I Have done this twice in three years. As one of the other folks mentioned it’s a function of how many impurity’s in ur water. I have a ton of iron I. My well water. Put in a filtration. System and no issues yet. Obviously that’s extreme and expensive way to avoid the problem coming back. Glad it helped
Cleaning the filters took care of my 'no water on the cold side problem.' Tried this after Moen told me to change the cartidge which I did to no avail.
Thanks for showing in the video how to get the hoses out of the control box. I have very low volume both hot and cold and could not remove the hoses to clean the filters. I knew they were in there, but could not release the hose from the box. I found a restrictor in the nozzle also that I removed but did not increase flow. Now to get to work under the sink!!! Thanks!
Thank you!
You saved my life today!!! Thank you!!!
Thanks for posting the only video that helped me to fix the problem! I really appreciate you taking the time to post it.
Watched 3 other long videos before coming to this one to sort out the issue. BIG thanks, brorher!
Great video! This solved my low pressure problem. (While you have this apart, clean out the cold water filter screen also.) Thanks for your expert help!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
Saved me so much money and now I have hot water! 😊
Thank you so much. I was about to replace the whole thing and this fixed the problem in minutes.

Yes this is what I have. I should have read this comment earlier. I tried to pull out the filter and broke it off. Anyway it works now.
@@CathiCleveland I still have to pull the hose out anyway, compressed air from the other end works well.
This helped! Thank you
Thank You! Like so many others, you helped this 63 year old granny fix her own faucet. Awesome.
Awesome video brother.
Thanks for taking the time to share.
Thank you Keith. This fixed my issue. Thank you for showing me how to disconnect the quick connector. Very helpful. Thank you!!!!
Thanks Keith!
This video saved me a ton of time and money, and we now have hot water pressure. Thank you!
Whoa!! That gray ring was almost impossible to press in, but we managed. Thank you for the excellent help!
awesome help

Thank you so much!! You fixed my faucet!!
Thank you for this video, easy to follow and it worked!
Thanks Keith Banda for putting this awesome video together for us all ! Just fixed our Moen MotionSense after watching your clear instructions!
Thanks man, Had low pressure for a week, couldn't figure it out but that did it. Appreciate you sharing the knowledge.
Dude! You are the best!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! Saved me $400
Thank you so much, now I can fix my low pressure hot water side. Kudos.
THANK YOU!! YOU ROCK. I have been trying to find some information about how to get the dang water line out, where to depress, etc. THANK YOU again for taking the time to do this video!
Revisiting this, because I forgot what I did last time, to restore water pressure. See you in a couple years!
This worked for me. Thank you.
Had some difficulty depressing the ring and pulling the supply line but the extra set of hands did the job. Great Video, thanks so much for posting it!
A second set of hands is definitely needed.
Thank you for the video. It's a big help. This faucet is not cheap to replace, so fixing it is the better option

Have the same faucet and problem. This fix worked for me. Thanks
Thanks Keith. My headache is over!!

Easy to follow and made it seem flawless. Good job!

THANK YOU!
This is exactly the problem I had and this is exactly the fix I needed. Thank you for taking time to record the video and sharing this fix.
Thank you! This fixed our issue.

Edwin Naamon if possible, may you please drop a link as to where you got the filters from...

Can you just keep the filters out to keep pressure flowing better?

Thanks SO much, saved us a call to a plumber and I’m sure a hefty fee!
Your the man!!!!!
Great video. No BS. Right to the solution. Thanks
couldnt remove hose so i just unscrewed fitting while attached

Thanks Keith, this worked for me. Didn't even have to clear the filter. Just unplugging the hot water line and plugging back in fixed it. Cheers!

Patricia Skinner it is tricky on ur own. I've had to do this a couple of times so have gotten used to it. Hope it worked out
I like how his "third hand" magically appeared.
Its a tough one to do ..I'm a journeyman plumber and my wife had to help.
I still can’t figure out how to depress the ring?
I had the same problem, even after looking at the instructions on the Moen site, which states, "To remove the hot and cold supply lines from the control box, hold the grey ring down that's located on the black control box where the hose goes into it and pull out on the hose. Hello, I'm curious how often you do this because I recently cleared both hot and cold filters and not a month later it's slow again!
I have had the faucet 2 years and have only done it once. Odds r there is a ton of impurities in your water. I also have a water filter that my well water runs through.

Thank you for making this video.
Useful, thanks.
I still have low pressure even after I replaced those. There are 2 on mine.
