      The pipe is only 19 and a half inches long, and I now have my pipe adjusted as far as it will go 19 and 3/8.

    I've had the first gen Liberator model for 2 years. Different design mine doesn't have the air intake holes its just one solid square tube and I didn't buy all the pellet hopper accessories I just burn wood in it. I don't recommend it as a primary heat source if you're just burning wood. A efficient soap stone wood stove would be better. It only burns about 1 hour with wood, you have to keep feeding it and babying it.

      I am using this as my primary heat source during the day but not at night my wife keeps an eye on the pellet Hopper so when it gets to the end and the tube is full but the Hoppers empty she shuts the hopper shut off door and then we have no more problems and everything's cool

    Too funny, I did almost the exact thing you did for troubleshooting. Tin foil on intake, and a heat shield. No idea why pipe length was not in the manual. But yeah, once the stove is dialed in it really works well. I thought the sap was boiling out and causing the drop tube to get sticky.

    Take out the burn basket. Rake out your ashes. Fill the hopper with pellets. Put one charcoal briquette soaked in charcoal lighter fluid in it, and put it back in. Open your pellet chute and drop the pellets. Light the briquette with a match. Depending on relative pricing dry corn works for fuel too.

    Oh that is interesting. Our hopper never warms up, maybe the air flows differently in our house or is it just that we always have our fan running next to the stove?

    Can you write please the size of the square intake vertical pipe?
    Why the side air holes are needed for? Is it not enough of the air going through the bottom damper?

    I have seen others simply placing a wad or two of paper in the opening and then pushing it towards the center of the chamber when lit... Can you do this with your stove AND why use the propane torch if one does not have to?

      LOL two things first of all it's a lot easier to light it second of all yes I can but I would have a lot of paper Ash to clean up later on but I do have the option of using paper

    Do the pellets just gravity fall down the tube? What keeps them from just completely covering up the burn chamber at the bottom? It looks like it would be hard to shut them off if you wanted to shut it down. They say you can burn wood but that looks like that would be a joke with the little 4 inch tube to feed it. How much is a bag of pellets?

      I learned how to use this stove proper tools the 3-in pellet stove brush is vital for cleaning out the 2-in pipe everyday. Because the 2-in pipe gets a little bit of creosote built up from the pellets and when the pipe is empty the pipe will burn creosote straight up through your Hopper that's why and it goes out pretty quickly but it still fills up your house that's why cleaning it everyday prevents that and I haven't had any problems after that.

    Hi, thanks for putting out this video. I’m about to have my Liberator stove installed and it’s good to hear what you had to “tweak” in order to get your stove operate effectively. May I ask why you placed the brick underneath the legs of the stove? Is it because you were afraid the temperature of the stove, along with the legs would scorch your tile? Also, what size cookie sheet did you use? I take it that it’s an aluminum sheet? Thanks! Dave

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  Рік тому +1

      Yes it's a small cookie sheet, and the bricks are just to put it up higher so I don't have to reach down so far to start the fire and yes it doubles with my fan on the floor behind it pushing the air underneath the stove that's where it's the hottest

    • @bonsukan
      @bonsukan Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the quick reply. When burning pellets for the first time, did you ever have a problem with the pellets sticking to the inside of the pipe and thus causing the fire to snuff out?

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  Рік тому +1

      Yes I believe my pellets were right straight from the north 40 yard outside where it was wet moisture I brought my pellets inside to acclimate to the inside air works a lot better that way and the pipe needs to be 19 and 1/4 in

    • @gw10758
      @gw10758 Рік тому +2

      @@tinbender998 hottest on the bottom? That does not sound safe. What is on the inside of the stove itself? Is it firebrick of some kind? Can it be disassembled for cleaning and repair?

      @tinbender998  Рік тому +1

      @@gw10758 no I was wrong that was just me and my words I just took a temperature right now of the floor and it is 160°. That's not very hot and on top of the stove where it does get hot is 520°, so I just got done putting my fan to the top of the stove I was premature with my words the stove yes can come apart and be cleaned and it has ceramic boards inside and the Firebox has a ceramic coating and it's very nice right now we've been burning one bag of pellets for 14 hours very very nice it's only 9° outside

    Where is the mass? I'm confused. Is your chimney the mass? Or is it the cylinder that looks like it would contain the heat riser?

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  Рік тому +1

      I know there is no Mass, there will be a mass this spring when I get done building it I will plug my rocket mass heater into it. Then it will be heating up a mass. Thank you for keeping me in check.

    As the pellet tube is running empty smoke comes up thru the hopper. What is the fix for This problem ?

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  Рік тому +1

      First of all make sure your pipe is exactly 19 and a quarter inches, that seems to have helped us, but at the same time we have had some trouble also so I got a 2 inch irrigation plug and wrap some carbon felt and tin foil tape and now we have to stick that down in there when we go to bed that stops the small creosote fire coming up. Yeah you know what I don't think I can explain it very good I think I'll make another video on just this topic because it is a problem in my mind and my wife is having problems breathing because of it

      I'm going to be honest

    • @tinbender998
      @tinbender998  Рік тому +2

      I hit the wrong it does not get as hot as a regular wood stove but it does burn steady and keeps our house really nice and warm. One bag will last us 13 hours. If you can figure out how to chunk your wood you can burn wood in it all day long and it will stay as hot as a regular wood stove. But instead of just putting one bag in and forgetting it for 13 hours, you have to stick chunks in there are every half an hour throughout the day.
