My big inspirations for this project come from playing a lot of (and getting a little addicted to) Super Smash Bros Melee. I wanted to do my own take on this kind of gameplay, with a twist!
I wanted to also make this as a big tribute to Valve and a bunch of other games and properties that I just like

ikr, it looks like and definitely could be a real game, its gameplay seems really good, and its all possible to create, maybe even with modifying in the source engine
A universe where valve joined the "party fighting game" crowd is the one I wish we were in.
The steam workshop would turn this game into MUGEN.
The fact that nobody has made a source engine fighting game with workshop support like this yet is absolutely criminal.
Yeah, when you think of fighting game engines source is not one that comes to mind... but if Titain Fall 1 and 2 could stretch the source engine as far as they did... imagine what further limits it could reach if used like this?

@@soggybreadman4035 Alien Swarm and Nuclear Dawn too, show that Source Engine can handle multiple genres, not just FPSes.
Super Source Bros has been my dream since someone made a Melee trailer reference 9 years ago.
Maybe someday we'll see a Source 2 attempt.

I know we're all sad about this not being an actual game but can we also appreciate what the video format allows Anomidae to do? Like Chell's moveset with a Portal Gun would struggle a bit unless you played with a mouse (the need for precise, quick aiming of portals). But we can enjoy it here.
Also camera movement and special effects?

angle of the blue portal (the only one which chell opened) is exatcly 45 degrees and was opened when jumped. maybe it's just like a jump followup, where you shoot a portal 45 degrees down?
Wanna actually make it a game? I'm a computer science major at the University of Oregon to learn game development, there are a ton of students like myself that can be gathered together to work on a project like this.

@@QSBraWQbut it would suck to have little to no control over the second portal. To make it truly stand out* it would require the aiming.
I'm not saying is impossible, I'm just saying that if I had to make a game out of this, I'd have to abide by certain... restrictions, to prioritize gameplay. But an animation doesn't have those restrictions.

This feels like a Valve-based Smash clone that's secretly a creepypasta. I love it.

You have to input a cheat code on the select screen to unlock the secret interloper character, who can phase through stage geometry and one hit kill.
Basically a cheat character, like some secret characters in old twisted metal games.
@@soggybreadman4035 he’d be able to summon dynamic npcs to do his bidding too, really a busted character.
@@soggybreadman4035Either that, or he's the final boss of the Arcade mode, and if you enter the code to play him, you essentially get to play the boss fight even though he has a non-standard moveset (like Valgas B from Powerstone)

Am I the only one who thinks that seeing Dr Kleiner using the Physics gun and the Tool gun against the terrorist was one of the best attacks in the entire video ??
I thought it was more of a Gmod player/Minge drone.
Being part of Sky Box, I could not tell if this was part of the ARG or a fun animation until I saw the 'X' at the end. Now I think it's both part of the ARG and a fun animation.
I’m pretty sure the interloper entity is in the last bit where Gman says “you aren’t supposed to be here”, would go along with the theme of “all source games are connected via the engine” theme
Wait incorporating the whole everything in source is connected via the skybox element of interloper into an actual crossover story thing is such a cool idea
Any video that ends in a big fat stinky “x” is apart of the greater “interloper” narrative.
And it’s not that “oh it’s one big crossover with all the characters!” It’s more likely this is anomidae (the fictional one) using type 5 demos to crank out videos like this.

I think every fan of Valve has thought about a crossover fighting game like Smash for their IPs. The way you bring it to life in this animation is really badass, and there's plenty of parts where you could fool me into believing it's a playable game!

The umbrella man boss fight was freaking tough, even with 7 other players on my side... the stun locks me and my team get put into by that guy when he uses his demo interference move are downright unfair!
i’d recommend getting a couple of your team to pick counter-terrorist and spam side special at him, the grenades do a shitton of damage

if valve (bc i think only valve can make a game like this) made a game like this, im pretty sure it would be a big hit, especially if they did collaborate with creators of other source based games like cry of fear, the stanley parable and others. i would be more interested in that than smash, ngl.
the animation is amazing to say the least, it does look like an actual game and is so smooth that its uncanny in the best way. Honestly, a great job. I love the videos that arent just the interloper (whether being merely connected to it or completely separate) bc you make such great content beside the interloper
the switch from 30 frames (rendered cutscene) to 60 frames (ingame cutscene) is just astounding. makes me wish this game is realer than ever
