  • Check out the beautiful 4K side-by-side shots of both of these watches!!
In this video i had the opportunity to get both the 670€ Steinhart Ocean GMT 500m and the 8900€ Rolex GMT Master 2 Batman in my hands to see how they compare. Of course these watches play in different leagues, but what i want to show here is that the Steinhart Ocean GMT is really different as a hole watch, due to many different small differences to the elegant Rolex Batman. It really goes much more for the tool watch look and is arguably a more sporty and rugged watch.
Big thanks as always to Watchour Luxembourg for allowing us to film this beautiful watch.
if you are interested be quick as this watch is definitely hot as you all know:

the fact that steinhart is able to stand on its own against a rolex which is at least 10 times more expensive than it, speaks volumes for the watch.

I have the Steinhart and love it. My days of buying Rolexes are over. When I bought my last Rolex paid 15% off list. Still expensive but tolerable. But Rolex pricing, waitlists and AD bs these days is a complete turnoff. Just bought my second Steinhart- the Adventure and it is also an excellent value.

I agree. Same thing with me. I sold my rolex sub a while ago and was in the market for another rolex sub. When I walked into the AD to buy another one, they told me I had no chance and to just move on and buy something else. I was shocked, I said what my money isn't good enough for you? Left the AD, went online and bought a Steinhart. I would buy 20 steinharts before I ever would buy another rolex again after being treated like a low life.

TOTAL agreement. I used ot own three Rolexes. Now I own two Steinharts and, honestly, they are BETTER watches than my 70s era Rollies. I love them. Steinhart for the win! Rolex prices and avaiability games are just ridiculous.

I just bought a Steinhart 39 ocean premium exactly like this one, I loved the design, specifically the divergences from the Rolex, I don't really like homages watches and I think this is a great step for the Steinhart, I really hoping to see them distancing fron this copy/paste politics, it gives much more character for the brand. This comparison shows that.

Thank you that’s exactly what we wanted to show here! When you take all the small changes it is definitely more unique compared to others. Unfortunately it looks like their 1:1 homages are pretty popular so Steinhart will probably stick to that.

Frankly I wouldn't be prepared to either go around begging ADs for a Rolex or paying flippers a huge profit for a second hand one.
During the 80's/90's I wanted a Rolex...until I bought a Seamaster and I'm so glad I did as I'm an Omega guy now.
What I did do is buy a Steinhart Vintage Sub based on the Royal Navy issue (currently going in auction for around $140,000) and its my beater. Superb vintage look.

    Hello Mister,
Rolex has natural image, and is not worth the money, in my opinion.
Of course, Rolex Batman is a very good, also very nice watch.
Steinhart, on the other hand, is a GMT Diver, which is well worth the price of each cent several times. Looks beautiful, very well built, very good watchwork, a beauty for every day. A Daily Rocker, which is more than happy. Steinhart is a fantastic Diver with unbeatable price / performance ratio. A beauty still.

The Steinhart Premium 500 GMT is my first automatic watch since 2018, and was lucky enough to get one with a ETA 2893 - A2. True to Dona Doni, people complaining about the non bi-directional bezel on the Steinhart makes no sense. People forget the Steinhart also has Diver markings in the inner chapter ring that makes this watch actually more unique than other watches at this price point. Great video, thanks for creating it! I have the new titanium version of that 39mm Steinhart on the way. I've always loved the look of that Rolex but I'm shocked anyone would pay their falsely inflated prices. (It's similar to how the De Beers company hoarded all the diamonds to create "rarity" and inflated prices) 😮 To wear a watch that expensive, you'd always be worrying about scratching it or having it stolen!

Honestly, one of the best watch videos I have seen... and I have seen hundreds. You sold me on this watch. I look forward to receiving it within days. I always wanted a Steinhart, but did not want a homage or look alike, especially a Rolex. I guess I care what people think. This watch as far as I am concerned has only one thing in common upon a quick look at the watch and that is the black/blue bezel, and logically black represents night and blue represents day. Round markers, triangle 12, and batons are found on too many watches, so that can't be an issue. Amazing comparison. Now I have my talking points ! :)

Great video, it's nice to see the original where the design elements come from for the Steinhart. I am buying this watch to, I usually only buy watches that are as close to the original as they can be, as I want the same look, but this watch being different in its own way is still OK to me. Some people don't like homage watches, and that's fine, as long as they don't say they are fakes, because you must then think that of every brands such as Squale Seiko, Tudor, Timex that do the samething, not just single out one, and that there is a huge market for the 1 to 1 homage watch. I myself do not care if someone doesn't like my homage watch, as it was not their money that bought it, and it was my choice. I talk to Gunter Steinhart often and he is a kind man, he wanted to make an affordable Swiss watch, that is actually attainable, as most can't or are not willing to spend $20, thousand and up for 1 singke watch, which is perfectly understandable, and to which you probably can't get as they are not usually in stock. I think the Steinhart is a fantastic watch, especially this one as it can be worn with jeans and t shirt, or a suit, the same as the Rolex, which is great! a sporty time piece for all occasions. 😊

I don’t have a problem with homage watches. The big watch makers pay millions on marketing and research. Part of the marketing is finding which look will sell the best. They get patents and further publicity with each new innovation they invent. This is a big reason for price disparity. It’s not they have 9500 dollars better quality.
I get the best look and top quality while paying a price I can afford. I would love a Rolex but it’s just not in my price range.
Most of the hate isn’t on quality but ripping off others. Get over yourself you snobs. 90% if not more of the world is rip offs from others. Just look at the music or tech industry.
